This boss drops 3 items which you will need if u wanna do the mechagon meta

1 vinyl battle of gnomeregan
2 blueprint blue spraybot
3 blueprint holographic digitalization relay

Well its only 3 items but there are other items too like the trinket item metal-detector
And the best part is that u can farm them non stop just wait at the point 63 55 and people will keep coming and summoning data anamoly .
There will be 6 different anamolys which are legacy raid bosses
Meathook , Baron Geddon , Lord Incendious , Balnazzar , Razorlash and Captain Kromcrush and you can get the loot from thoe bosses too as in tier or the gears that they drop in their raids .

Maybe i got rngd but i was killing all the mobs from 30 mins i had 2 patterns but the 3rd blue spraybot i didnt have so i kept killing and killing but nothin happened then i went back deleted the quest and come back the first kill got me the pattern . Again i maybe got rngd but its a worth a try if u get stuck in a loop

edit : Now you can only kill all of the 6 mobs summoned only once per lockout ! So still 6 tries aint bad for one say .

The Data Anomaly has several versions, which seem to imitate lower level dungeon bosses. Quite peculiar...
The original bosses and their anomaly versions:

Some of them seem to spawn more frequently than others (I personally haven't been able to confirm that either of the barons spawn). All versions have a low chance to drop an equipment tied to the specific boss alongside the normal loot any Data Anomaly can drop.

Blizzard put a cap on the amount of kills you can loot each day. After a certain number of kills on the Data Anomaly's, you are unable to get any loot besides spare parts. So don't farm like I did for 3 hours and get nothing.

It appears that Blizzard has pushed a hotfix on today's event. Now you can loot the non-elite multiple times but you'll only get scrap parts. The Elite mobs can only be looted once each, after that you will no longer have the option to loot.

You can loot EACH elite, but only once EACH.

So now you have 10 chances at loot for this daily, and it depends on RNG which one is summoned.

After the hotfix on the first night this daily was active on US servers, this quest has functioned very strangely. I've finally figured out how it works. I believe they made it work this way in order to eliminate the situation where abandoning your quest in order to resummon another type of rare was the correct solution. Each data disc is associated with one set of rares, so there's no advantage to abandoning the data disc quests now (except to trigger them later for guildmates or friends).

From my experiences, these are the following data discs available and which NPCs they spawn:

Corrupted Data Disc: Spawns either Data Anomaly (Lord Incendius), Data Anomaly (Meathook), or Data Anomaly (Razorlash). They are always lootable. They drop between 2 and 4 Spare Parts every kill. They can also rarely drop their appropriate boss loot (at what appears to be a much lower frequency than the elites). It does not appear that they can drop the blueprints or vinyl music tracks, which is what most players are really after.
Cracked Numeric Cylinder: Spawns either Data Anomaly (Hogger) or Data Anomaly (Razorclaw the Butcher). Looting them is a mutually exclusive action, doable daily. Killing one of them triggers a hidden tracking quest with ID 57385.
Large Storage Fragment: Spawns either Data Anomaly (Balnazzar) or Data Anomaly (Captain Kromcrush). Looting them is a mutually exclusive action, doable daily. Killing one of them triggers a hidden tracking quest with ID 57387.
Rust Covered Disc: Spawns either Data Anomaly (Baron Kazum) or Data Anomaly (Crowd Pummeler 9-60). Looting them is a mutually exclusive action, doable daily. Killing one of them triggers a hidden tracking quest with ID 57388.
Scorched Data Disc: Spawns Data Anomaly (Baron Geddon). Looting him is doable daily. Killing him triggers a hidden tracking quest with ID 57389.

This means that you can effectively loot 4 elites each day. I don't know if which elite of the 3 pairs of two elites actually matters for the important items like the vinyl or the blueprints. I would hope they all drop those at the same rate.

There are three discs to get, you have one chance per disc to spawn one of 10 Data Anomalies which can be either elite or non elite.

Each unique elite that spawns has a chance to give you a special item on top of the random assortment of other junk you can get from enemies on the island.

You can kill other players spawned elites and still get items, each RARE is unique per event, not just one per event.

Today alone I have had the Blue Spraybot and Metal Detector drop for me from other players spawned elites.

I still have 2 elites I am waiting to spawn to see if I can get the Hearthstone Blueprint to drop on the same day of the event.

EDIT: I also just collected my fourth disc on the same day.

There is a total of four items that drop during Discs of Norgannon. You will want to try and pick at least one of each of them up. They are:

While it is true that you can only get loot once per day from them you can start the quest, kill rare, abandon the quest and the next day repeat. This should allow you four attempts to get the blue prints and vinyl each day.

Do you have to complete Discs of Norgannon before you can loot Cracked Numeric Cylinder, Large Storage Fragment, Rust Covered Disc or Scorched Data Disc? Anyone know?

EDIT: Answered my own question. Right after completing the quest I got a Large Storage Fragment!

Alright so after you complete the quest to kill the non elite anomaly you can go farm each item that spawns the rare elites and you can do the quest for each one for 45 rep each. you can only loot the rares from each item once per daily reset.

each item only spawns 1-2 specific rares, and if you kill one the other one that can spawn will be loot locked, think of it as being loot locked to each item/quest for the day im going to see if you can do this every day as long as you dont turn the quests in i will update tomorrow

Per Nerolab's response to another post, My guess is you can run this to see if you've done them all each week.

In 8.2.5 Blizz has "fixed" this again. The corrupted data disc no longer goes in your bag and will disappear the next day. The quest will also be removed from your log the following day, effectively ending farming for the blueprint.

I've been farming this for about a month now and just to help clarify (after running that lovely script Katherine posted) --- the data anomalies -regularly- drop absolutely nothing. Most of the time I'd say you cannot loot them. My general luck is that of the 4 pairs of elite ones (Baron Geddon being his own), only 1-2 drop anything. It seems as though this vinyl (Battle for Gnomeregon) is the most difficult to obtain. I also wasn't even able to activate my discs, but I realized I was in a Spare Parts party/raid so I think that was the issue. Good luck to y'all!

In addition to the daily quest for Corrupted Data Disc, there are four other items that drop around Mechagon which can spawn a Data Anomoly.

Here they are, and the rares and named mobs they drop from, so you don't have to open a bunch of browser windows to find them all:

Cracked Numeric Cylinder: Boggac Skullbash, Uncle T'Rogg, Earthbreaker Gulroc, and most Trogg trash mobs.
Large Storage Fragment: Mechagonian Nullifier, Gear Checker Cogstar, Bondo Bigblock, Scrap King, Knuckles, Paol Pondwader, and most of King Mechagon's minions like Sentry and Enforcer trash mobs, and Mechagon Troopers in the dungeon.
Rust Covered Disc: Paol Pondwader, Irradiated Box of Assorted Parts (Rec Rig HM), Recycling Requisition, Strange Recycling Requisition.
Scorched Data Disc: Paol Pondwader, Irradiated Box of Assorted Parts, Recycling Requisition, Strange Recycling Requisition.

Remember, once you've collected one of these items, you can summon/kill/loot the Anomaly, abandon the quest, and do it again the next day. Keep doing that till you get all the drops you need for Mecha-Done.

It seems in their desperation to stop people getting this faster than they wanted, Blizzard introduced a bug making it harder for people who did not exploit prior to the hotfix. Basically you are supposed to have 4 attempts (daily, if you abandon the quests after summon the corresponding anomalies) at loot from the rare versions of these anomalies, once you have farmed the 4 items that summon them (all but one item summons two possible anomalies, but if you loot one rare spawned from an item the other is also locked). However, for many players this is completely bugged and only a random number of the 4 are actually lootable - if you're unlucky, only 1 or even 0 may be lootable. This makes the loot dropped from these rares SIGNIFICANTLY harder to obtain for a large number of players who chose not to exploit, or didn't know about the exploit.

The Data Anomaly purged at the end can drop Blueprint: Holographic Digitalization Relay which lets you craft Holographic Digitalization Hearthstone.
Note that the blueprint is called "Relay" but the item is called "Hearthstone."

I'm being held back by the vinyl for the meta after a LONG time. I kell Freeza daily on 3 toons. Not sure if the achievement crosses over from toon to toon but im trying. Does anyone know if there's a set date or rotation for the Discs of Norgannon ?

Note that these quest-giving items are NOT unique, and if you turn in the quest, all copies of the item will be removed.

This comment is a combination of other comments with proper information and an extra trick that I haven't seen commented here before.

Collect the quest Discs of Norgannon >> Kill Malfunctioning Scrapbot, Malfunctioning Scraphound, Malfunctioning Scrap Pup or Congealed Oil until the Corrupted Data Disc drops. (It took me between 1-10 kills with the malfunctioning mobs to get the data disc)

DON'T COMPLETE THE QUEST YET, KEEP READING

You can't loot the other 4 items (Scorched Data Disc, Rust Covered Disc, Large Storage Fragment, Cracked Numeric Cylinder) unless you've completed this quest first, HOWEVER, if you complete this quest you can't continously spawn and farm the three Data Anomalys from the Corrupted Data Disc. Look at this comment if you want to know exactly which Data Anomaly spawns from each item.

The three mobs from the Corrupted Data Disc has a special quirk to them since they're regular mobs, not rares.
This means you can kill them over and over in one sitting as long as you DO NOT complete the quest.

You've three options to farm these three mobs and I'll list them in order of efficiency.

Option 1 Create a premade group >> log onto an alt and look for your newly created group >> apply to join the group >> log onto your main >> accept your alts group request >> log onto your alt >> accept the group invite >> log onto your main >> delist the group. You can now right click your portrait and freely switch between Raid Mode and Party Mode. While in Party Mode, speak to R33-DR and ask him to spawn the quest mob. Quickly change your party to Raid mode, kill the mob and loot it. If you didn't get the correct mob/loot you wanted you can now change to Party Mode again and speak with R33-DR in order to spawn another quest mob. Repeat until you've gotten the items you're looking for. After you've gotten everything you wanted from these 3 Data Anomalys you can safely disband the group and complete the quest in order to be able to loot the other 4 items(Scorched Data Disc, Rust Covered Disc etc etc...)

Option 2 Speak with R33-DR and ask him to spawn the quest mob >> Kill the quest mob >> loot it and disband the quest >> Collect the quest again from the original quest giver >> farm for another Corrupted Data Disc. Repeat until you've gotten the items you're looking for. After you've gotten everything you wanted from these 3 Data Anomalys you can complete the quest in order to be able to loot the other 4 items(Scorched Data Disc, Rust Covered Disc etc etc...)

Option 3 If you've already completed the quest you can wait for other players to spawn these three Data Anomalys and kill them together. This'll take a long time and I don't recommend it at all.

Make sure you do this during the same day this daily quest is active because it'll be removed from your quest log after the daily reset.
Congrats on completing the easy part of this grind!
You can now move on to the other 4 items. They can only be collected during the same day as Discs of Norgannon is active so make sure you get all 4 after you complete this daily quest.
Read this comment to find out how to get them.

Once you've collected all 4 items you can now accept their quests from the items in your bag and spawn additional Data Anomalys from R33-DR.
Each item has its own set of Rare mobs and each set shares a daily reset cooldown so make sure you ONLY kill the rare you need items from.
If the wrong mob spawns you'll simply have to wait until another player kills it.
DO NOT COMPLETE THESE QUESTS AFTER YOU KILL THE RARE MOB
Remove the quest from your quest log and save the item in your inventory. You can accept the quest again the next day and repeat the process.

I personally found some of these comments either confusing or misleading in regards how to effectively farm the rares which drop the vinyls and blueprint from the Discs of Norgannon daily quest. So I am going to put in my (hopefully not too long) write up as of end SL/DF prepatch.

Things to note:
1) The Discs of Norgannon quest is a prerequisite to being able to farm these rares and it will disappear after the daily reset.
2) You will need to devote an hour or several hours depending on RNG to maximize your attempts to farm up the vinyl and blueprint.

What do you need to do start farming these rares which drop the vinyl and blueprint:
1) Wait for the Discs of Norgannon quests to be up.
2) Complete and turn in the quest (the "bosses" summoned from this quest have no useful drops)

Now that the quest is turned in, get ready to start mowing down a lot of mobs for rare drops. There are four special discs that are used to summon rares which drop the vinyl and blueprint. These four discs have some pretty awful drop rates and will only drop if Discs of Norgannon is up today and completed. This means if you fail to obtain any of the special disc before the Discs of Norgannon daily expires, you will have to wait for the daily to appear again before you can obtain them again.

Now actually getting these special discs to summon the rares:
1) Large Storage Fragment: Drops from various mechagnome mobs and rares. Low drop rate. I found the Western Spray (around where Steel Singer and Paol spawn as a decent place to farm)
2) Cracked Numeric Cylinder: Drops from various trogg mobs and rares. Also a low drop rate. Just mow down every trogg you see in Scrapbone Den.
3) Rust Covered Disc: Drops from the recycling quest box reward in Junkwatt Depot (and from the hard Mode of the Rec Rig construction project). I got this from the epic recycling box I opened, so I cannot say much about the drop rate.
4) Scorched Data Disc: Drops from the recycling quest box reward in Junkwatt Depot. Also a low drop rate. Can be dropped by Paol on the Western Spray as well.

Get as many as these discs you can get, if not all before the daily reset.

Now you have 1-4 of these special discs on you:
1) Accept the quest from the disc and do the objective (kill and loot the rare)
2) DO NOT TURN IN THE QUEST. AFTER YOU KILL AND LOOT THE RARE, ABANDON THE QUEST.

Since the quest is tied to the item, just pick up the quest again tomorrow for another kill and so on. One thing I noticed is that of the three I had time I collected, only one mob yielded loot. I am not sure how the lockout works or if there were any shadow hotfixes with this or what.

After weeks of no quest, it's up twice this week, incl today. Just note: turn in the primary quest, the one with the Corrupted Disc. Abandoning it means having to find the corrupted disc again, so it won't keep for other days. however once it's turned in (and it MUST be turned in) the 4 subquests items ( Rust Covered, Cracked Numeric, Large Storage, Scorched Data discs) will start to drop. These ones you do NOT want to turn in. Simply go to R33 DR, tell it you have the disc, spawn the mob, kill the mob and then ABANDON the quest. The disc stays in your bag with a ! on it. Now you can do each disc once a day even when the primary quest is not up.. You'll get duplicate subquest discs, delete them. If you do turn in the quest youll lose them all incl the ones in the bank. I got the 4 subquest discs from different mobs. One drops from troggs another from mechanized mobs, another from Paol (rare on Seaspits island) and the fourth from a Even More Recyling box (I think they can all come from that box in Junkwatt Depot). Hope this helps.
