Bonus Events: Arena Event Live, Timewarped Badge Quests and Costs, 6.2.2 Events Start On Wednesdays
The
Arena Skirmish Bonus Event
is active and runs between
August 28th and August 31st
.
During this time, you will get the
Sign of the Skirmisher
buff which can significantly increase the amount of Honor earned from completing random Arena Skirmishes. In addition, you can complete
The Arena Calls
(Winning 10 Arena Skirmishes) to earn 0
. The Conquest earned from this bonus quest does not count towards your weekly cap.
The Arena Calls
can be picked up in your Garrison from
Seer Kazal
.
In addition, with 6.2.2 likely on Tuesday, it's a good reminder that in 6.2.2,
Bonus Events will begin on Wednesdays not Fridays
. You can see a complete upcoming adjusted schedule on our
PTR Recurring World Events Page
.
The new holiday that likely starts on Wednesday is
Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking
.
As you may remember from our earlier coverage, there are new vanity items purchasable during Timewalking weekends with the new currency
Timewarped Badge
, such as
Bridle of the Ironbound Wraithcharger
. The prices of these items was exorbitant, and they have been lowered in a recent build. Here are some examples:
Reins of the Eclipse Dragonhawk
: 5k, down from 50k
Commendation of the Cenarion Expedition
: 50, down from 500
Ever-Shifting Mirror
: 500, down from 20k
Mark of the Ashtongue
: 1250, down from 12500
Check out all the updates on our
Timewarped Badge
currency page, or our
Timewalking Guide
.
In addition, there are new quests in the data that suggest you can supplement your Timewarped badge gains. These are weekly quests, so can only be completed once per event:
BC Timewalking:
Swirling Timewarped Vial
starts
The Swirling Vial
for 0
Timewarped Badge
Wrath Timewalking:
Frigid Timewarped Prism
starts
The Unstable Prism
for 0
Timewarped Badge
Timewarped Badges can also be obtained from killing Timewalking bosses (numbers not final, but it was 150 per boss, 200 per end boss in an earlier build), and the data in the tracking quest
LFGDungeons - Timewalking "Heroic" Random - Nth
suggests that you will be awarded an additional 0
Timewarped Badge
for completing any random Timewalking dungeon.

Preparing for Patch 5.4 Guide: Gear Changes, Removed Content, and More!
Patch 5.4 is a week away, so today we're taking a look at things you can do to prepare for the patch--from saving your
Valor Points
to finishing up Battlefield Barrens! Next week we will publish our Patch 5.4 guide to all the new content, but for now we're just focusing on the changes that can impact how you play the week before.
Olivia from Talk Azeroth covers everything you can do to prepare this week in her most recent show as well:
Existing Gear Changes
In Patch 5.4, all reputation gear tied to MoP factions (except for
Shado-Pan Assault
) will cost
Justice Points
instead of
Valor Points
and the reputation requirements will be lifted--so if you hate grinding reps and are short on VP, just wait a week to buy those items.
Shado-Pan Assault
gear will still cost
Valor Points
in 5.4, but heavily discounted, so it's probably best to wait and buy those items when the patch hits. Shoulders are unaffected, as they cost gold.
Item upgrades aren't going away in 5.4--if you're not sure what to do this week, upgrade your best pieces with Valor this week, and buy the cheaper

5.4 PTR: Currency and Reputation Gear Changes
On the latest 5.4 PTR, reputation gear costs have been nerfed pretty hard, making it easier to gear up fresh characters. Many
Valor Points
items will cost
Justice Points
and
Shado-Pan Assault
items will have greatly reduced costs.
As this is still the PTR, currency costs are subject to change, but here's what we observed in-game:
Shado-Pan Assault
Honored items now require Friendly--chest, hands, legs, backs. In addition, the costs have been reduced by 34%:

Patch 5.3: Mists of Pandaria Currency Guide
Patch 5.3 introduced several new ways of acquiring currency, and ways to spend them. We've updated all of our currency pages and gone over the updated rewards and methods of acquisition below. Of particular interest:
There are several new ways to acquire
Valor Points
, including 0
Valor Points
from
Battlefield: Barrens
and 0
Valor Points
from Heroic Scenarios.
A catch-up mechanism has been added to the
cap, and unlike past seasons, players can purchase Elite items if they have earned 0
this season, as opposed to hitting 2200 rating.
Players who have acquired 0
can also purchase regular Tyrannical gear for Honor Points instead of Conquest Points.
Players can spend their
Elder Charm of Good Fortune
on
Empty Supply Crate
in 5.3, which helps them out in the Troves of the Thunder King.

News Round Up: WoW at 9.6 Million Subscribers, Currency Conversions, PTR Testing
In today's
Activision Blizzard earnings call
it was revealed that World of Warcraft lost its initial burst of subscribers from Mists of Pandaria, coming down to 9.6 million. Last year WoW lost
a lot of subscribers
and was at 9.1 million right before WoW's expansion came out:
600k
,
300k
,
800k
, and finally
100k subscribers last February
.
This is still an increase from where things were before MoP launched, but we'll have to see if the more frequent pace of these patches improves subscribers furthe
