call me crazy but if you play a bottom of the barrel spec and class like for example enhance shaman, you may enjoy every second and love the class fantasy but at the end of the day the chances you have of actually getting groups to complete content without having a supportive guild or a bunch of friends is slim to none due to the sheep mindset of bad is bad. Everyone always trying to get a piece of the pie at the end of the day and be the next best thing.
Unless you're in a top 100 guild, play what you like, it'll do just fine.
This only worsens the tryhard meta slave mentality in the community where clueless people start worshiping it.Instead you should be getting creators and sharing videos that teach people how tiers lists are often flawed, dont rly matter outside of world first and tryhard elitist guilds and how you ll get better results by playing the class you enjoy and learning it well
It feels weird you guys post this, but three days ago also posted this article: https://www.cuckhead.com/news=318915/new-shadowlands-covenant-guide-best-covenants-for-all-classes-in-raid-and-mythic
I've been playing for over a decade and I agree- you need to just play what is fun. Classes gets nerfed and buffed all the time (especially at this part of the cycle) and chasing metas can drive you crazy. However! The 'play what is fun' mentality does come with a huge side of 'be careful'. Sometimes, no joke, Blizzard WILL do so poorly at balancing a spec that you will underperform regardless of how much effort you put into it. That can and will also drive you crazy. If you are the type of person who cares about how you perform (even in casual content), you might be in for some frustration. A 'fun class' is NOT fun when you feel like you are dragging the group down (or not achieving whatever goal you've set to solo), regardless of your rotation.
As a wannabe Survival player, I feel this.
i love arms warrior it dps is meh atm probly still gonna play it cause i love my warrior.
A lot of people are here saying to just play what is fun and while I appreciate that for some people that is just not how they approach the game. I think that the intention is for most classes to be strong and it takes a mixture of picking your favorite and considering what you want out of the game. Don't knock people who want to play "the best" based on tier lists and don't knock the people who just want to play their favorite class/spec/covenant.
I learnt the hard way not to jump the gun. I've been rogue'ing since day 1 .. Combat in vanilla and then Sass ever since mid BC. Pre Legion *every* simmer was extolling the virtues of just how good Outlaw Rogue was going to be .. ad nauseum .. so I shelved the daggers and unsheathed the swords with a hearty "arrrrrr" ready to get all piratey. I invested the first 3 months of Legion to my buccaneer ... but role the bones turned out to be a steaming pile of rng poop. So 3 months behind every one else I had to grab the daggers off the shelf and get back to assassinating. That decision and the 3 months of regrinding weapons has made me one very wary Rogue re new content and I take the pre patch simming with a grain of salt till I see for myself @ max level .. Sass daggers it will be till then. :-/
Just dropping a reminder that trickle down meta is a thing that very much exists.Sure, your class/spec might be more-than-viable for the content you're doing but if it's deemed "unfavourable" by the top end, then even the low end will decline you and leave you sitting 20+ minutes before you finally get an invite. This problem slightly diminishes if you play in guild groups, but even then guilds as an entity still harbour that mentality. As a good person, guild member or a friend, value the time of those you play with and make a selfless decision instead.
If only anyone would think to apply the golden rule of "play what you enjoy" to covenants...
