Blizzard is doing just fine. Still how many subs total? Pandas will bring them back, whether they like it or not. (first)
Aye, they'll be back next month.Though, it's not like 9.1 million is anything to sneeze at(also, they held at 10.2 till this point after the loss in Feb).
I'm pretty sure we've seen the game peak in its subscriptions. Many who have played the game from early on, have outgrown it. Many don't like like where it has gone, etc. Many probably signed up because of all the buzz surrounding this game. Perhaps they took a look around and moved on. Perhaps they stayed. Regardless, there a million reasons for one to stop playing.I have no doubt there will be a surge of re-subs and new subs once Mists goes live, but I doubt if we'll ever see the numbers that we have in the past.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
MoP will likely bring some back. Heck, it might even take my attention off of TOR for a little while.
Note that subscriber loss would NOT include Annual Pass holders. Annual Pass holders that are playing Diablo III committed to a full year of continuing to pay for WoW. So any loss to D3 is going to be to people who actually paid for the game.
Wow, a whole fiveseven posts without someone saying "WoW is dying", impressive. That said, they'll be back for MoP, I think.
I myself, and alot of my friends have quit playing WoW atm because we've cleared 8/8 heroic in dragon soul and have been farming it for like 6 months, it's not fun, and i'm very much hoping Mists of Pandaria isn't a dissappointment, which im almost 100% sure it wont be, and quote me on this, the amount of subscribers that are gonna come for MoP is gonna make their subscriber count go above 10 million again, i am 100% sure of that.
Hope they will learn something now.
It's not just the 1.1 million that left or the other 1.2million who decided to turn their eyes towards Diablo 3, there are many more who are going to leave wow, not because there 's something wrong with the game but because it's common sense that when something has gone on and on for this long eventually gets boring...introducing new stuff and renovating is different, no matter what you bring on Wow at this stage it's just the same graphs , the same environment etc. not to mention how ridiculous the new implements have and will become in the future (eg. talent trees).I mean, we all know that up to LK this actually was a lot of fun, since that , the game is continuously declining, stupidly easy boss encounters / DGs / same old dailies etc etc. having to use your brain is what made a difference in the past .I 've been both on the hardcore raiding side and on the casual gamer and both sides are on the same page at this moment, I 'd be surprised if the numbers didn't go down a lot more. They are gonna need a lot more than Panda's to bring their subs back, neither mounts nor free boosts will help them this time .
well im not suprised the number plummet this much. 4.3 is becoming a drag and ill be glad if we reach MoP.still i find it strange EA didnt release the actual numbers of subscribers lost in swtor, but instead they gave amount (below 1milion, above the needed 500k) while blizzard/activision just throws in the blunt figure. but then agian their different companies.
MoP is definitely going to bring people back. :D
I am among the many that have unsubscribed in recent weeks but I will be back for 5.0.4/MoP. I just found there to be no point to continue to waste money on the game when my guild had long finished clearing heroic DS and fully gearing up raiders and getting their DW/Achievement mounts, causing them to be burnt out from current pve content and ultimately going on summer break before MoP. This seems to be the same case for most other guilds as my low population realm barely has any players remaining on it. Once 5.0.4/MoP releases, I'd imagine more than 50% of the people who unsubscribed last quarter (at least) will return since if they had played through so much of Cataclysm, their primary motive for unsubscribing was likely simply not having anything to do anymore.
I think subs will stay around the same for the next 6 months or so then will probably start to drop and level out around the 7 million mark - be interesting to see whether that's accurate, in 18 months or so :) We'll lose all the panda-haters as the AP runs out; we'll gain some from folk coming back to see what the new xpac holds, and then it'll drop a little again as MoP gets 'old' and people have started to clear content.I've got a few friends who are actually suffering from MMO-fatigue now and have dropped all MMOs to go back to single-player games - wonder if that's a real trend?I've got around 10 85s, a pile of levelling alts and plans for a few pandas, so I expect to be around for a reasonable amount of time yet :)
I think GW2 will kill a lot of subscriptions from wow except for the serious raiders
I left WoW because of the raiding. 5 and or 10 man raids don't interest me..... 40 and 25 man raids were awesome! I enjoyed the interaction within the guild, the team spirit, The laughs and giggles. Once everything went to ten man's, it seemed like no one wanted to play for fun anymore. No one wanted to help the lower level people get geared for the raids. I don't know that I will ever come back, to be completely honest. I even bought a new pc thinking that maybe it was just my machine getting on my nerves or something. Replaced my AMD Phenom quad core with an AMD Phenom II with a six core cpu, 16 gigs ram and 2 X 1 gig vid cards.... It's great for facebook... -_-
