One where people can grind bgs while having fun and are slowly upgrading their gear to max ilvl, just a long pvp grind without arenas, let the few ppl that care about arenas do arenas, dont force them on the casual BG crowd.I for one I am NOT SCARED that people will also have mythic ilvl gear like me because in pvp skill should always matter more than gear.
At this point, whatever decision they make, just please either remove or limit this "PvP" scaling. Already now there are vids of lvl 50 characters much stronger than 190 ilvl 60. (Dont hate me for this reminder) Rextroy also pointed out in recent video that -lowering- your gear from 470 to 450 was 25% damage increase. Why in the heck should in MMO someone with lower gear have advantage over people doing end-game content?
Bring back the resilience please.
Just let us buy it from the vendors!
Strangely, I prefer the Legion formula. PvP gear does not seem a viable long-term option in the state of the game, resulting in the same imbalance we accuse PvE gear to create. Thanks for the article.
As someone who mainly does pve content I liked BfA system which allowed me to queue for some bgs and arenas from time to time and be competitive. I think they should go with either the Legion system of scaled gear or BfA system but they should have all the stat combinations on vendor for people who only pvp
This was an interesting read for someone like me who doesn’t PVP. It brings home that PVP players have been screwed the past several expansions. PVE-only players like me have been complaining that stuff we want has been locked behind PVP (most recently essences), but PVPers have been forced to do PVE far more. I hope they can fix this for y’all somehow. :/
Imho pvp gear could be a good thing and a bad thing, the good is that gear is balanced only for pvp so trinkets and stuff are pvp only so broken pve stuff isn't allowed but the bad thing is that gear sometimes makes you better than someone more skilled in pvp,the legion formula was a great idea but bad applied as gear affected way too much pvp,the best would be disabling pve trinkets and stuff and reducing the scale to a more balanced level, pvp gear could exist yes but it shouldn't be an enormous jump of power, just some good stuff like more damage dealt or less damage taken but not too much or trinkets that give cool effects,so yeah the best would be something in between
Gearing in wow will never get better at this point. Blizzard wants to appeal to a broad audience and allow them to whatever content they like regardless if they are prepared in any way (i.e. go join a raid with your pvp gear or join arenas with your pve gear) we live in a different time compared to Cata and Wrath, people want to be "in the interesting part" as fast as possible else they'd go to other games and blizzard would lose out revenue. So good old Blizz has took upon themselves to try and balance everything as close as possible, but in that case BFA happened where people who wanted to do competetive pvp or raid for the first spots in mythic just went and did a bit of everything to get the best possible gear in the shortest amount of time. At this point we should all just accept that balance will never be a thing. The post praises WOD but completely disregards how impossible it was to get into pvp if you weren't already playing it, yet brings up the same argument of how it is going to be hard(time consuming) for pvpers because they have to do pve content.
Excellent summary that brings insight.Bring WoD or MoP system in its entirety back! Remove the legion/bfa style templates in instanced PvP — it was nice experiment that felt like torture for 4 years — no more !
WoD's gearing /scaling system was awesome. Bring it back plz.
Hands down, Warlords way is best, it doesn't deal with pointless "different" stats. Rather a nice and simple "pvp" item level that goes above pve gear item levels. Simple. However, we should have BOA PvP gear so alts leveling up don't get pummeled, if level 50 characters can have a more fair fight against a level 60, but WITHOUT the weird scaling, that would be cool because while scaling does suck, I still think people 10 freakin' levels lowers deserve a fair fight... soooooooooo make gear low levels can obtain that follows that Warlords pvp item level increase and put within a few level of the best gear! BAM easy fix!
Since the net result of the gearing system benefits all PvEers, especially elites, at the expense of PvPers, it is necessary to consider that this is the intent of the system. PvP is now designed by mythic raiders for mythic raiders. Everybody else is collateral damage.
What if the pve trinkets just doesn't work in a pvp enviroment. All "On Use" and "Proc Effects" give no advantage in pvp. What you guys think about that?
PLS Blizzard. I beg you ! No pvp scaling
