I am surprised people were worried this would happen when they didn't mention anything about removing the auctioneer when removing the mount from the game.
The only reason the mog vendor replaced the reforger was the fact that reforging was removed and they needed to give the mount value. How exactly is this even a discussion haha
could only be the casuals ^^
So... why are they removing the mount from vendors at first place? Is this a plan to increase token-gold selling because people are panicking?
Blizzard suffers from schizophrenia. If they don't want to look around and see AH vendors everywhere then why put the mount in the game in the first place?
I understand them wanting to keep the mount special but then if it's to keep it special why not just jack the price up every expansion? Also only telling us a year before it is removed seems extremely scummy and screams of the higher ups trying to milk WoW Token money out of people right before their earnings reports come out.
In Wrath, there were three different colors of mammoths. There were six different mammoth mounts obtained in different ways (a one seater and a three seater version of each color). One was a gold sink, none were removed. In BfA, there are three different colors of brutosaurs. There is only one gold sink mount. It is being removed.Honestly... just let that sink in, because for me, it sort of informs how much the company has changed in their practices for the worse over time.
their fear the mount would be too common could also be averted by squishing gold like they squished everything else before - stats twice, now levels. that would keep the mount just as unobtainable and rare yet not make it so ridiculously rare and hard to obtain as it would be on the bmah.the explanation given is not honest. it is just another way to get some money from players buying tokens which is more profitable than a usual subscription for them.tbh I doubt there is something intrinsically bad about everyone having an ah on demand. the ability to repair in some places is already restricted by the inability to mount in some places. the same could be achieved if the don't want ahs somewhere. we aren't living in a world where you are visually pestered by all the mammoths and yaks just because they provide repair. you use them and hop off. just like you use a brutosaurus.also that brutosauri would cover all the landscape is ridiculous. people tend to use the cool mount that are freshy introduced and therefore rare. it is not like you only see e.g. ravenlords because time lead to people getting one form of them over time.also people stop and start playing all the time. new players tend to not be very rich and wouldn't have expensive mounts.instead of above proposed idea of squishing gold they could also just increase the cost of the mount by the planned amount of inflation or a multiple of it. they'd need to adjust gold cap for that though. may be easier still than squishing gold but would also solve their fear of brutosauri being too easily obtainable while not going for a cash grab.just have the store items be the cash grab. there should less scummy ways to get more money.
