Lmao the people saying tank dps isn't important. If you ever played a tank on the lower bracket of damage, such as a BDK, you can tell where the damage problems come in: getting threat. When you pull packs in M+ or have to pick up adds in a raid, you struggle as a low dps tank because the dps usually use their burst and your damage is not enough to supersede the threat generated from that. Additionally, because of the low damage output, you have to use your taunts (I say plural here because bdk has 3 with 2 being faster GCD taunts) to gain threat, making it more difficult for you to do your job of surviving.Outside of threat gen, tank damage has a non-zero impact on boss kill time and prog. If your tank does 50% less damage than the other one purely because of class (usually it's more like 25%), and you wipe at 1% or even sub 1%, that tank's damage could've been the difference between a kill and a wipe. Sure, you don't want to rely on tank damage to finish off a boss but it still is significant. While it may not seem that much on this graph, if you actively play with tanks of different classes in raids you can see a significant damage difference which I feel is pretty absurd. I have practically the BIS trinkets for BDK (441 Beacon and 441 Mark of Dargul) and yet the Prot Paladin in my raid group does more damage with his abilities than I can do with my trinkets. My top 6 damaging "abilities" are usually my trinkets, my onyx annulet, or some other equipped effect whereas other tanks like a Prot Paladin's top damaging abilities are their actual class abilities. In addition, my 99 and 100 parses do less damage than the Prot Paladin's 90 and sometimes even lower parses. I just want to do damage with my abilities and not have to constantly rely on equip effects, especially for threat gen.
If tanks were NOT supposed to do decent amount of damage then Blizz could've just added different threat multipliers and have tanks hit like a wet noodle. They could've added an aura for them to do additional damage when doing outdoor content to make sure those who don't want to be forced switching into DPS spec for outdoor activities don't have to do so.
as long as blizz refuses to to balance bdk dmg i will keep skipping the patch , why the hell i should be flamed becuz of the decision that blizz is making ?and yes i am a cutting edge Bdk main , i know what i am talking about
I dont need a graph... Just go tanking m+ 20 and higher as a bdk .. yes is will work in coordinated environment with a rogue/hunter or both, but without no chance to keep threatIts actually sad , compare bdk ilvl parses with Paladin parses 10 ilvl lower , they are still 20% higher.
buff bear tanks
I love wowheads ability to continously post articles that will piss of everyone at the same time. Good job, keep it up! Thats the best kind of entertainment.
RIP prot warrior, was fun while it lasted.
yeah bdk feels weak atm, which is bad bc our ST was weak last season too, add in 12 dead talent nodes in the spec tree and mando dnd playstyle and it makes for an unfun time
after 2 weeks everyone already forget that VDH was in the trash can since shadowlands? now that VDH finally got some love and still has alot to improve everyone appears complaining about tanks damage graphs and forgot about tankiness...
wtf buff prot paladin damage
Take these numbers with a grain of salt. The numbers are pretty meaningless. We are 2 weeks into the tier, most tanks are not playing their maximum damage builds yet as many will start off conservative so as to prevent tank deaths on early prog. Tanks whose full dmg build is closest to their defensive build will naturally be higher up. Many are yet to get tier set.Come back mid tier onwards for a realistic picture of tank damage.
I dont know about tank dps but I really wish healers on certain weeks would concentrate on healing everytime someone dies and a healer is doing dps I just think what if he had been healing especially when someone sits below half health for a long time when they have used all cooldowns to heal themselfs.
Leather gets the better embellished gear with those thorn shooting boots (with toxic patch) too, if they so desire.
These stats really don't show the whole picture : brewmasters are at the top because they really don't lose much going for full damage and even their defensive build has a high dps. They also benefit the most from borrowed powers with woo giving 32% more dam and rushing jade wind hitting really often. Tanks like paladin or guardian can do insane damage sacrificing a lot of survivability and obviously that's not what you wanna do on week 1 or 2 on hard hitting bosses unless you're willing to grief your guildBlood dks do absolutely no damage with their abilities and the difference only looks small on the graph because of borrowed powers like primordial stones and dps trinkets. Blood dk ability damage should get buffed by at least 25% to even be competitive. For prot warrior my only explanation is good players deserted this spec because it absolutely trucks with the new tier set.
Blizz making sure that bdk is lowest damage every tier(unless they give us a scuffed tier set as bandaid in SL) while other tanks have much more mobility or uttility on top of higher damage. And dont give me the "but selfhealing" bull*!@#, other tanks tank just fine by blocking damage.
