OT dk can solo handle adds - he taunts them from a while away, and uses Chains of Ice on them so he doesn't even take damage from the Scorches
I don't presume a DK tank in the group :)And it is not my goal to encompass every single strategy - just the most popular ones, and the basics of the fight. On a side note, we missed both Ignis' and XT's fast kills by ~5 seconds in our 25-man raid. That sucked.
If I ever get to Ulduar I'll be sure to use this.
It's actually also doable with 1 Tank if your OT is a Paladin. Since the constructs have been nerfed to 10 stacks, its quite easy to be fast enough. I (as a Prot-Paladin) have enough tools to aggro any new spawned adds, even if i still deal with the old one.On a side note, we did the <4min achievement this way and it's much more safe than to offtank/kite the adds all the time. The one DPS you need to finish the construct off every now and then won't make too much of a difference for the timer.
my guild has ignis on farm.It is a really easy fight actually.if tanks have half a brain u can easily do it.I should add that destro or demo locks are also very good at shattering the constructs. Also OT MUST keep a taunt for when the construct becomes molten.other than that ignis is cakewalk.

Yea, I keep forgetting achievements...
A good guide overall, but I'm unsure of one thing.
This makes sense, seeing that he has a Berserk thing he says ("Let it be finished!"). However, even with 3-4 fewer DPS, this shouldn't be an issue, as a normal group would down him with about half the constructs up. Unless you want to do it with 7 DPS and 16 healers?
What techniques are suggested for the OT to drag the Iron Constructs through the Scorch'ed ground without being in the scorch themselves? I know there are ways to do it - have a mage freeze them, hunter traps, etc - but what is commonly used/easy? Or is this even needed? Maybe it's just easiest for the tank to have some Fire resist gear on and walk the Constructs through the Scorch...Also, you suggest to have the Scorch be directed to the water pools because it stops the secondary effect. But if the Scorch is necessary in order to kill the constructs, then why would you want to do this? Am I mis-reading something? Thanks for this next installment of the strategist! I've been looking forward to them since the first.
The strategies I post are the ones my guild uses on both 10 and 25 Ulduar. If there are iffy moments, I try to mention them.@netrbrunet, I just sit in the fire. As a paladin I could stun the Construct when the stack is at 4-5 and just wait outside, but my healer has never complained, so I haven't bothered. I think the only disadvantage of staying out of the fire while keeping the mob inside (CC'd somehow) is the fact that you are out of melee range when you need to pick aggro again (when it turns Molten). The thing with Scorches is, if Ignis casts scorch every X seconds, each scorch lasts almost 2X seconds. So, unless you extinguish every second one, you will have two up almost always. Not that it's bad, or that it hurts your raid, but it's messy to keep spinning Ignis around.
we tried the kill 1 add at a time strat the other day and though we had some good attempts in we never downed him. So we decided we would try the burn strat just to see if we were close enough in dps to get him down. our raid make up looked like thisPaly - MT bossFrost DK - ot addsshaman - healerpriest - healerDPS consisted of Feral druid2 mages2 ret paliesHunteronly the hunter and 1 of the mages has over 3k dps. the rest are around 1.5 - 2.5k dpsThe priest basically spammed heals on the tank to keep him alive and the shammy spammed chain heals on me (dk tank) while i tanked the adds. We all stacked up behind ignis so 1 he didn't do that stupid charge and 2 aoe healing the raid thru flame jets and me tanking the adds i could still dps the boss and tank the adds at the same time. When we started getting way too many adds and the shammy had to start healing the MT i would kite the adds a bit and i brought out my AotD and start popping my cds 1 by 1 to relieve healing IBF/UA/trinkets/etc. We managed to down him on our first attempt of trying the strat unfortunately me and the paly tank died right when ignis did but with alittle more dps it would be alot easier. If your having trouble with ignis i'd highly suggest the burn strat if you got 2 really good healers and tanks. The DPS doesn't have to be the greatest considering we did it with some low dps but it would help
