At least the citizens living on Teldrassil are safe and sound in Stormwind.
Whew, that's a mouthful. Great analysis; looking forward to reading these for myself in full. I'm happy to see some real development of Saurfang's character, and really interested to see where it leads in Battle for Azeroth and beyond. On the one hand, it seems very clear that they're setting him up to oppose Sylvanas, possibly attempt to "reform" the Horde (as Garrosh was meant to, but without the evil and the racism) and would likely have leaders like Baine on his side. If this does come to a head, it'll be interesting to see where the other Horde leaders loyalties will lie.
Big issue I would say is that a lot of the story should be in-game. Saurfang doesn't scream for them to stop in the cinematic or even in-game. He doesn't even get a dialogue option showing how he feels about Teldrassil burning. Nothing. Even if the novellas are good that doesn't change that the people who were meant to tell the story of the War of Thorns did so poorly.
As I say in every topic regarding sylvanas latest actions ( or even ongoing ones)6 forces on the wow universeLight--------VoidArcane-------- FelLife ---------DeathLife is the most vulnerable force on wow universe, they can be controlled by the void or be slaved and consumed by the fel or even transformed to the undead Since the void got rid of their hard foe, the fel's legion (unfortunately by us with the help of the light "naru" and arcane "pantheons" forces) the next logical threat to them would be Death so I think Arthas, Bolvar and sylvanas knew that the death is the only force that could defeat the void and maybe that's why the light trying to make a holy undead (Caila menthel resurrection) to fight the Void tooDEATH seems to be the most reasonable force to fight and defeat the void since its not easy to be controlled. hope is in Death not in life Death is the morally Grey ….its not white (the light) nor black (the void)
This honestly paints the whole stuff in better. Specifically this part
Story is still bad. I just don't see how destruction of teldrasill can divide alliance. Damn, MoP taught us that alliance is strong because of the Horde, so if horde attacks, of course alliance become even more united, what sylvanas even HOPED to accomplish here? Holding hostages in Teldrassil could work i think, at least it makes some sense to me.
WHAT NIGHT ELF DEFENSE WHAT ARE YOU SAY , THERE WAS NO NIGHT ELF DEFENSE THAT WE KNOW FROM PREVIOUS LORE AND WARCRAFT 3 !i think the elfs was put in a bad posture ....i play warcraft 3 and man, malfurion know very very powerfull spell like that one that kill archimonde and i be thinking teldrassil the tree have some defensese ability like malfurion use the defense in warcraft 3 for mount of hyjal that was unfair to see elfs in that bad posture ..i be expect much detalis from the lore . like teldrassil should have a lot more defensive . the horde its like fight with nature and the nature its very powerfull(and the nature its powerfull not like in throns war where actually we don't see the powerfull throns:)) it was see it like its so weak and vulnerable.. and where is cenarius ...when the grommash hellscream in warcraft 3 mision want to cut of some little tree from ashenvale for resource cenarius instantly appear ...and what a suprise for darkshore and teldrasill its like cenarius stay and watching these ..i don't think was a fair fight for night elfs was not using all the power that they have(that was presented in the previous lore and expansion)..like they showed in warcraft 3 ..this is just a bad lore from my opinion..malfurion defeat mighty archimonde with the help of powerfull nature and the wishps , and here can't defeat slyvanas (i don't think sylvanas its more powerfull than archimonde)we see all the powerfull nature source from nightelfs in warcraft 3 , and why maiev its not in the war to defend teldrasill ?maiev in warcraft 3 its commanded by malfurion that hes know as shando and also he ask for tyrande and malfurion help her to stop illidan i don't see any unity in charcters elfs for defending teldrasil in this war of throns story . a lot of charcters missing here and detalis as we see in legion in valshara elfes have a superior armor and weapons and utilities and no Cenarius . but in burning of teldrasil wee see just some catapults that somehow they have the range to the top of teldrasil(that the tree its a way to huge ) ...the tree should have a lot of power and have a self defensive not some goblin on bats throw some fire and its burn ....a lot of charcters from nights elfs civilzation are missing here in this war(its totaly wrong and the draenei capital was near the teldrasill i don't see any support from exodar where its the good prophet velen no one explain again a lot of detalis missing ). its li ke the catapult have a better chance to hit exodar than teldrasill for real..this its a fake story copied from avatar movie lets burn a tree this will create drama ) .
somone can explain why no draenei its there prohpet velen should be part of the fight i mean the catapul have a better chance and ragne to hit exodar than hitting in the top of teldrasill and i don't understand what about defense of teldrasill if the catapult have range to the top of teldrasil(that i don't belive it ) why elfes don't have the range to hit with glaives from teldrasill or the arches of nightelfes why they are not used to hit from the tree with arrows the elfs are the best arches ) but the are put in the posture where the elfs just stay in tree and watch how the horde give fire to the city i don't see any elfs that shoot arrow from the tree to the horde solider that fly on bats above teldrasil to be so easy for them to stop them to reach top of teldrasil if they hit from the tree ...this things are missed here !the elfes - they don't have range(but horde have range somehow ) to atack from above that its the best defensive toeretic its like enemy stay down at the gate and you are up on the wall horde - are far away in front of a giant tree on the beach of darkshore and they burn it somehow :O (and the draenei are hype and cast /clap from exodar this its not a storyline)
Hearing about Saurfang actually doing something, even it just was him being overwhelmed by his memories of Shattrath and Stormwind... that crushed my heart. But in a way that could someday heal again.
Shake up of factions, third faction incoming?
I think the main problem of the storyline is the lack of dissent within the factions, at least so far as that is portrayed ingame. We see pretty much all members of the horde participating in the burning of Teldrassil or events leading up to it, but some of the races would have pretty clear objections to killing the world tree, and they aren't voiced at all. Saurfang has a bit of that, but we don't see pandaren or tauren objecting, and even nightborne and bloodelves would probably be a bit more hesitant to the genocide of their 'cousins'. Right now, the ingame situation almost makes it seem like the horde adopted an 'oh well, no use crying over spilled milk' approach, which makes no sense. Ingame cinematics have been teasing us for weeks now with tauren, orc, trolls and goblins all fighting together to defend lordearon... how on azeroth would such a big issue get resolved internally by the horde in time for their leaders to mount a defense of the undercity? If it had just been forsaken at the site, this whole situation makes sense. They've done this and worse to the alliance from pretty much their first day of freedom. The forsaken don't have to be "morally gray", its been pretty well established they can be quite evil if it gets them what they want, and that suits them just fine. However, the horde as a whole has always been pretty fractured, even more so than the alliance, with vastly different outlooks between their leaders.
so at least a large number of civilians escaped? :(this still don't explain why there is not draenie arround here.yeah trying to destroy the hope of the nelfs or the alliance is literally impposible. that was a stupid mistake sylvanas.
Well, that's a better story than what we saw in game, at least. Still kind of ridiculous that they put it somewhere that most players won't see.
