My most epic moment... 10 seconds to wipe.-PlankIt was a friday night, the night I would continuously hope that a friend would have a raid spot opening for me and my brother. I was a dwarf protection warrior, not well geared, and my brother was a holy paladin, gear was slightly better than myself.I did my usual bouncing around in IF, sending tells to see if friends had openings. Wrath of the Lich King was just announced, and wanting to tank in Northrend, I wanted to prove I could handle myself to my friends, even if it was to be as an offtank. If there was anything I could ever want... it was my tier 4 helmet... a tanking symbol! I knew I could achieve this in Kara, but getting in a group was easier said than done, and every offer I got left my brother out to dry. I refused these offers, but he is my brother.Well, I finally got my chance to shine! I got a tell from a friend who had 3 openings, and they wanted a backup healer... and an offtank! I could not have been more overjoyed! I sat outside of Kara, smile on my face for almost 2 hours, waiting for the party to get going. Finally, the group all made it there and were ready to go.We hit the first horseman boss and I got to offtank the horse... I thought I did great, I did all the things I was supposed to, and got a compliment from the healer taking care of me... "wow, I was expecting you to drop", he said. We went through the boss fights, dropping them one by one. Kara was spectacular, and I had not seen anything like it in the game... this run felt epic already. But I had to get to prince, in hopes of my helmet, and symbol that I can tank more than a 5man to myself.Well, I never dropped and no healer dropped the entire instance, which where my duty was to protect them, felt like an amazing achievement. But, the moment had come... time for Prince. I was nervous and sat through the explanation, yelled to my brother down the hall, "Here we go! GET SOME!".It went the exact way they said it would, and I was DPSing in my tank gear, which was all I had at the moment, but I thank myself now that it was all I had.... the Pally tank dropped when Prince was at 40 or so percent left. He yelled at me to "Pick 'em up Plank!", over ventrilo. I quickly switched to sword and board, and proceeded to smash Prince. I was holding him, my health was plummeting quickly, and I would quickly be back to full. DPS was dropping quick from the falling infernals, which I think could be blamed on the fact, of panic, that the offtank was now main tank. It was down to 4 of us, my brother furiously healing, a holy priest and a fury warrior... Prince was at 3%. Health was at this point starting to fall closer to 0 before it would be back to 100. Then, panic fell, I dropped, with Prince at 1 percent, but I knew they could handle it... and soon Prince was down.I was getting cheers over vent, and my brother as well as the other 2 with us, for doing what we did. Everyone got back on their feet, and time to loot... I was roaring with joy! Tier 4 helmet token... for a warrior! But I didn't realize other classes could use it as well. I was kind of bummed. But, I heard something I though I never would. "Plank gets dibs on the helmet guys", the pally running the show, said. I proudly thanked them all and put my helmet on. Displayed it in options and have yet to turn it off.I like to think people inspected me in Ironforge after that, saying simply "Nice!".That is my story.
Shortly after Kara went live, I saw my first Squid Staff and knew that I had to have one for myself. There was only one problem with this- my guild was small at the time and only had ~10 or 20 people on to raid normally :(So we step into Kara for the first time, and are doing pretty good. We clear up to the demon room and decide to go for it... after 5 wipes we leave the boss i NEED to kill standing! We finish clearing Kara and decide to come back the next day with a different set-up. WE KILL HIM! and he drops a really nice tanking cloak (which i got).Next week we come back, and we one shot him! but no staff :( this became the normal thing for ~ 2 months... just about the time i was going to give up on the coolest looking staff in the game and just buy a gladiator stave, it finally drops! was probably the best feeling i have gotten from loot in awhile!thanks for reading :)
well a while back our guild was working on getting the lurker below to die. after many tries we were doing good we killed all of the adds with no trouble we kept everyone alive. but then our casters started dying then we lost our healers then our tanks then the lurker went after everyone and with a group and a half of dps still up we were at 1% left and it looked as if we could actually kill the fish. But then she dived below and phase two began and without tanks or healers we quickly wiped. After many more attempts we decieded that we could not kill the lurker. But later in another attempt we did it on the 2nd or 3rd try we killed The Lurker Below. We all grabbed our badges and were smiling with triumph one of the drops i couldn't use but the other i was intrested in. It was the Ancestral Ring Of Conquest. i was looking at it to see if it was an upgrade and two people already rolled for it with pretty high rolls. The rolling for the loot was almost over and i still hadnt decided so i quikly typed /roll and rolled a 91 a winning roll. i was very happy i cant say the same thing for the other rollers but with a new epic equiped i was very satisfied with the days work.
Bindings of the Windseeker, need I say more?Back in the era of the big, dark, reddish, lava filled cave, we were once again venturing in to claim our phat lewt as the regular raiding guild we were. Having out main tank offline doing some other stuff, we had some difficulty handling the more gear dependent stuff, but that did not stop us from getting onwards as we usually do.What was the turning point, when in our officer channel, where we go on about the nicks of the raid, our guild master and master looter just commented "guys, we has orange". Naturally the officer channel just exploded, and shortly after the guild and raid chat from us informing this. Now, normally having a legendary drop isnt that odd anymore, but this was when there were 2-3 legendary items on the whole server, so it was quite the deal back then. So, after us spending a fair time pondering how we should deal with this, obviously we had no predetermined conduct for this because we never tought of it dropping. As some may know, the Windseeker is one of the best tanking items in the whole game, by far, so obviously the MT had prio, surprise surprise, he was offline. As we were still in the middle of this, the MT loggs on and gets informed what happend, ooh was he !@#$ed, but, we had to go with the people in the raid. It ended upon 3 people. the guild second maintank, and the two most capable and active rogues. Yeah, we rolled, bite me, I won it.Ever since, we had had a few more drop, and whenever I get bored, I pull out my shiny sword and run in circles, never gets old.
One of the best items that have dropped for my hunter Sonic spear and the reason that's it so epic is that I ran shadow labs 25+ times to get it.
Colossal Skull-Clad Cleaver because c'mon, you can't have enough axes!
