Ret paladin's being turned into consecration buffers/spammers is an interesting idea for the class. I know it's upset a lot of them but the class fantasy of it is kinda neat I guess.
It's good to see them making changes, hope they make the class better and they share this love to the other classes.
The consecration stuff has to be stopped before it hits live. Not only is it absolutely awful for anything m+ related or, well, any boss related stuff whatsoever, but its essentially unplayable in PvP. No one is going to want to play with a ret paladin that has a permanate damaging field on the ground that will break every sheep, fear, paralysis, ice trap, repentance, blind, etc. It essentially gaurantees the only way you'll be played as a ret pala is in 3s and with a character that doesn't care about CC, like a warrior or DK - which is the miserable state the class is in right now. There was a time when Ret paladins could play the game by themselves and could team up with hunters, rogues, druids, monks and so on - but right now the total lack of mobility means that simply isn't possible.Instead of pigeon holing rets into another 2 years of 'get 10 seconds of uptime every minute and a half, and do the combined damage of 4 other people in those 10 seconds' - why not: - massively nerf cooldown stacking- buff sustain- buff mobilityrets already suffer from a lack of CC, mortal strike, sustain and mobility (which is again why you only see them played with characters that are unpeelable and have infinite slows (fury, dk) and that do all of their ccing and mortal striking for the ret.Signed, a ret paladin who got bored and rerolled from one shotting people then being kited while crusader striking for 800 damage and divine blading for 2500 damage,
Please bring back Long Arm of the Law
It's interesting how this expansion seems to be giving consecration a shot in the arm. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet but I'm sure in the beta I'll get a chance to test it out. Could be fun, or could be an expansion where my rogue or mage takes the main spot again.
Can we please re-prune consecration? I’m not taking any of those damn talents and I’d rather they not end up meta.
Ugh. They are so lost. Why are they adding talents called "seal" if they're not bringing back the seal/judge system? Why are they taking away long arm when freedom has 30% move speed baked in? So many weird decisions. And the consecration thing.. Is just a poor substitute for Ashen Hallow.
Alright, why's the background pally for the prot trees look like he's dealing with some major constipation?
a question to the ret talent designer, why are you still having justicar vengence as a talent even..? its super bad
we need a new paladin talent designer
Please stop it with the "only useful while bursting" thing for ret paladins. It's impossible to balance.
Our sustained damage is mediocre, and we bring nothing that Prot or Holy can do better, or more efficently. If healing is supposed to be utility, then we pay quite a toll for it as it comes at the cost of damage. The game is evolving and retribution is still using an out moded design philosiphy. Dungeons aren't designed with a mounted character in mind, especially for the larger races like Tauren, and tying four points into an ability that requires two globals to use effectively is overkill.Retribution needs a drastic overhaul.
Some Prot tree talents cost too much points: Righteous Protector, Bulwark of Order, Tyr's Enforcer, Light of The Titans, Sanctuary, Faith in the Light, etc. At least some of them should be worth 1 point (keeping the 2-point summary) which would at least give us some more room for taking better stuff down the line.
I'm just glad I decided to level and gear up a DK at this point. Gonna have to wait till 10.1 before pally is playable.
What ? Where is my Long Arm of the Law ? Are you joking ?
Still 4 talent points to get subpar movement.Still no real defensive ability for PvE scenarios.Still no party or raid utility that would warrant a Ret over or in addition to a Holy in a raid.Only thing this tree does well is burst a single target - yay for PvP I guess.
the more I review the Ret tree the more I'm becoming annoyedEvery 2% passive stat talent in the game is bad, In every class and spec tree. Every single one of them represents the talent system starting to go sideways as the devs run out of ideas and fill the tree with sawdust. They keep attaching AOE effects to the single target abilities, so there is not a really clear role to anything, all paths lead to passive melee cleave. You literally cannot make a single target build without being forced to take AOE talents along the way. Wasn't the point of the tree to let you customize your build with what you need? If I am fighting a single target raid boss why do I need Divine Storm?3 capstones are AOE Holy damage attacks, and the choice node capstone is opposite side of the single target capstone. I like the final verdict/hammer of wrath path. But to go full ST you get to take 1 capstone and can't reach the 2nd one in Executioner's Sentence. Divine storm and consecration buffs are zigzagged all over the tree, in a meaningless and random way, so you can't actually get them all to maximize your synergy, But also it doesn't matter which way you spec, you WILL be taking talents for them even if you try to avoid it.Exorcism having a stun for undead/demons is dumb - We already DR on stuns from wake of ashes against those targets which makes HOJ less valuable. And this week doing Kara with Sanguine I am reminded why I don't love wake of ashes doing a stun btw.The concerns about consecration procs going off and breaking CC in PVP are valid, but also in PVE too, There are 2 current dungeon bosses who want CC used and the Zul'gamux miniboss does as well. Who the heck is writing this talent tree and what is their /play time on paladin? Seems like there are not enough base abilities in the class for them to use this new talent system properly. Shaman's tree is SO good because they have so many spells to modify. With Paladin and Ret in particular, each base ability has like 5 talents to modify it, and in the end it feels really homogenized because almost every button Ret has will be a slightly different version of holy cleave attack. The Ret tree is simply the illusion of choice, you can go final verdict, or you can go whatever AOE spec sims best, and the other AOE choices will be abandoned. There is no functional difference between going executioner's wrath vs empyrean endowment vs final reckoning. FR can be cast at range but other than that they're pretty much the same, even have similar AOE sizes. Imagine getting paid to copy paste the same ability 3 times in a talent tree. This is an epic rant but it's time to take the gloves off cuz I'm not doing another expansion with Ret forgotten about in PVE.
