Thanks for single-handedly demolishing any argument RPers have to claim they are RPing as 2nd Gen DKs that could not have been Silverhand in life. Doing the most over here! :D
I know in a short story before Shadowlands kicked off. The Four Horseman were talking about the new Death Knights being risen up, who were the 4th generation of death knights. Saying they were just getting thrown into combat without any training essentially and even criticizing Bolvar for it. Also even saying at least the 3rd generation death knights at least got training from Arthas. But to be fair 3rd generation death knights had a more direct purpose, while the 4th generation death knights were essentially bodies to fill ranks to help fight against the forces of the Maw.Out of all 4 generations of Death Knights, probably the 3rd generation death knights got the most accolades about them and probably the best generation overall. Considering they include the player characters, also many familiar faces and have served in many warfronts over the years, but have thinned due too the war against the Legion. There is many notable death knights in this generation, not including the player character. The only Death Knight in 2nd generation worth any note is probably Arthas. Who we all know about and love about, if you played Warcraft 3 or WoW for a minute. Who himself has many accolades and obviously the most powerful Death Knight and being the Lich King. Other than that, they were essentially undying melee fighters who were former knights, paladins, warriors that lack any magical abilities of the other generations. With Arthas being the sole exception and being the Lich King Ner'zhul's champion. The only Generation 1 is Teron Gorefiend worthy of note and most of his accolades were in the 2nd war. While Generation 1 Death knights were not melee fighters, they were equal too generation 3 death knights who were hybrids of 2 the two generations previous of them. Not much is known about them and what happen to the remaining ones. It said the rest got turned into liches.
The Second Generation spot leaves out a lot of key information about them that makes them different from the others, so please take this with a grain of salt and do further research if you're getting into undead lore. :D
THe original post is wrong about 2,3 and 4 generation, there's no difference between them and their powers
All races shoul not be allowed to be every single class. And Pandaren Death Knights make no sense whatsoever lol
This post itself is more interesting than the Azerothian Archives thing.
Learned alot from this read. Great job !Also, Undead paladins when ? Who's to say they weren't paladins before they fell to the scourge ?Did they just forget the way of light as paladins, but not as priests ?
There can no longer be any new death knights right? Didn't the power of the lich king grant them the powers they have and also have a importance of resurrecting them?
Alex was chummy with Vyranoth this expansion so theres no reason to believe the death of 12 dragons at the hands of a death knight is water under a bridge I have to sell you.
I am planning to main a Void Elf DK in The War Within, thanks for this article. It would have been great to also receive some DK-only cosmetics after doing these quests, as there aren't many class-specific cosmetics to chase without taking the tier sets into consideration, besides artifact appearances in Legion and the class mount also from Legion, too bad there really isn't anything in Shadowlands for DKs. Regarding the 4th generation, I think they could also be raised corpses from the ones that fell during the Legion invasion, not just the Fourth War, as they are still under Bolvar Fordragon. My character's story would be that he was a Blood Elf Paladin slain during Legion (I have a character with the same name in WotLK classic), then brought back as a DK and then becoming a Void Elf during BfA.
What I am more interested in is the interaction of Sindragosa with Death Knights or primarily with Bolvar in DF since Sindragosa in her echo became active in dealings with Blue Dragonflight.
Blizz if you read these comments, can we have some intense death knight moments like in the legion dk questline in the future? It was by far the most interesting of all the class hall series. That class fantasy is why I still play a death knight to this day. Also, mega props to whoever is making the dk tier sets this expansion. You're absolutely NAILING it.The season 2 and season 3 sets are instant classics and such a vibe. We're Arthas' legacy, and I'd love to see the Ebon Blade have a meaningful (or terrifying) presence in the upcoming expansion trilogy.
