The very last second of the video made me laugh out loud :D
So definite conformation that it was actually staged. The guy himself always liked to keep it up in the air, though many suspected it was indeed preplanned.
Meh
Leeroy himself posted a thread on the WoW GD forums promoting the video as part of an awareness campaign for restoring net neutrality.
The Leroy Jenkins video wasn't real?(Sob...) I haven't felt this betrayed since the Verizon "Can you hear me now?" guy started doing ads for Sprint...
Never thought this was staged. o_o
Wow.I mean I know it's like "obvious"but anyway my mind is blown right now
I kinda feel that openly admitting it was staged kind of simultaneously invalidates every laugh ever had at this video as well as all the cringeworthy "significance" that the "meme" has ever had.
I am removing him from my hearthstone deck! I can't believe it was staged!
Weren’t they reenacting something that had happened or something like that?
I can't believe people still thought the video wasn't staged.
It was announced in march 2007 already that it was staged. http://www.westword.com/news/the-legend-of-leeroy-jenkins-5091880And if you look at the video, you see the one recording was getting as much as agro from surrounding mobs as possible.
From what I understand, while this one is staged, it's based on something that really happened but was not caught on video. So what they did was do it over again as an act so that it can be caught. So it's about 50% real 50% fake imo.
It's staged? What's next, you wanna tell me Santa isn't real?
Please Wowhead staff, that video was uploaded by its creator in support of Net Neutrality. You should make sure your article also mentions Net Neutrality, so that the video's goal of creating awareness is maintained.Otherwise you're basically just re-posting without context someone else's video for views.
Frankly, I don't care if it was staged, it was funny, I laughed at it, and I loved it. Who cares if its staged? If its funny it counts, I don't hear people saying that every laugh they about a comedy sketch became invalidated once they learned the sketch was actually scripted, or anything alike. And I bet many of the memes we see these days were scripted/staged too. So I still like it, and it will still forever be one of my favorite WoW memes.
Everyone always knew this was staged. Did you listen to the strategy they outline? They're going to run in and break all the eggs then gather up all the adds to aoe them. But for survivability they're going to intimidating shout and fear them, which would spread them apart. Then since the mages are going to get a ton of aggro aoeing them (even though they would miss most cause of fear) they're going to use Divine Intervention on the mages. As we know DI kills the paladin and makes the target immune and unable to cast or attack. Finally there is no way to actually do a number crunch on the odds of beating an encounter especially not back in Classic days. The whole thing is totally absurd but it makes a super funny video because to WoW players we get that it's a farce and to non-wow players they see this super serious discussion followed by one guy coming in and ruining the whole thing. Let's not forget that the reason they were even bothering to go into the Rookery was to get a paladin cloth shoulders. I know this was Classic but still.
um, how did people not know it was staged? it was a very fun video but, it was fairly obvious. cool to see the trial run of it :)
It doesn't matter if it was staged or not, as long as it makes people laugh :) However, if you're disappointed that it was staged, I remember reading somewhere that one of the people who made the video claimed that it was based on an event that really happened during a raid :)
