I like how they are literally pulling this from FFXIV but I think it's a great idea.A lot of people seem to think you have to have practically mastered portions of the game in order to help new people but you should consider the type of questions that would be asked a majority of the time. Most people that have played the game for a bit can answer them. Only very specific questions would require real in-depth knowledge of end-game specific mechanics.
Oh I can't wait to mentor the hell out of new players..It actually gets me excited..love meeting new players of WoW cause they're going through the same thing I went through like 15 years ago now. A fair bit different but a whole new world to explore! Gonna be like advice city up in this b************ch
I dont know what kind of guide blizzard wants but the N'zoth kill needs to be AotC.We are talking about a player guiding a new player into the game.AotC is not a big of a deal and if one has it proves he is capable of giving PvE advice. If you're going to let an LFR dude guide someone to do dps chances are he/she doesnt know what he/she is talking about nor where to direct them.Someone that is capable of clearing HC raids is good enough to know things about the game but also not in the mindset a mythic raider will inevitably be forced into.Which is........optimal rotation and gear and if its suboptimal but fun you tend to forget about it.For a guide , the requirements needs to be stricter otherwise what you do with the program is to mass produce poor quality for the current players and unknowingly for the new players.LFR players dont know what an intrerrupt is or what to use when on or how.I have continously been playing WoW since WoD and before that on and off and ever since LFR was introduced you have to hold LFR players hands all the while doing the dps of 5 of them the very least if you want to kill a boss that it isnt just tank and spank.I think I can count on 1 hand the number of warlocks I've seen using Banish on the mask in Underrot while leveling or in Motherlode's 2nd boss adds. You may downplay it but if the mob follows you it saves a ^&*!ton of time and dps and if you also havoc it while banished you have free target to cleave off. See? A tip a LFR player wouldnt know about.

People wanting to require AOTC are gatekeeping help for new players, simple as that. I have been playing this game since 2007, I've been through all the systems ever implemented, I am knowledgeable and helpful, If I dont know I know where to look and I will get you an answer, but I cant bring myself to do raids... the first time a random guild I was once convinced me to try tanking a normal raid for them, they summoned me to a heroic raid, yes I knew the fight, but my gear was not cut for that, since them I have tanking anxiety and I stick to LFR because of that, just now I gathered courage to venture into M+People requiring AOTC for everything are ruining the game, and are not the kind of people that will waste their time helping others
ah copying the mentor system from ff11 and ff14 i see
eh the system was a good idea in FFXIV but in reality it was mostly filled with trolls and less then helpful people (to put it mildly) I don't have any faith the WoW community will do better
Would the marker be on all characters on the account? Or just the one that had the achievements.
I was looking forward to help those who needed it, but since this is now gated behind a PVP achievement, there goes that. I think that's ridiculous.
Why even have requirements to begin with? It seems like they are targeting anything but new players. The ones needing specific advice on PvP, Raids, Mythics... sound more like the ones who need to be pointed to guides rather than have a chat with someone.
