if a dev has to create so many workarounds (no cleave, no target macro) to normal gameplay to make it a threat, it should be considered a failed experiment and removed altogether. it looks stupidly stubborn to cling to this affix.
I don't care WHAT they do, I am NOT killing Orbs! It's a DPS loss!
Just delete this garbage affix and all other affixes while at it...
in lot of pugs - lots of dps just completely ignored the affix and let it on tank and healer - calling it healer job:) and then being suprised that they died bcs healer couldnt click on explosive behind big group and needed to spot heal tanksome classes are also forced to use their hard hitting ability and proc to kill them - like demonology - or send pet (which is most of their dmg in pack)
As always wait for testing and wait for good player's thoughts before you start hating on the affix. In theory I think the changes are good. My main issue with the affix is the amount of orbs that spawn in some pulls and the fact that it feels bad to waste globals on them on most dps specs. So if they only make a few orbs to spawn and you have to use couple of spells to kill them and the targeting isn't too wonky then this might be a good rework.
Every explosive orb week, i just do pvp instead. F* this dog s*.
I can't wait to see how this plays out....Well, I say that but let's face it... Everyone knows what will happen. The top players will end up leaving it to a healer to deal with, given top players are generally good enough to not take stupid amounts of damage they can't handle. That will then be seen as the meta, and then every group will just expect the healer to deal with it. Just like every other attempt to make explosive something the DPS should pay attention to. I miss the days when healing was the requirement for a healer, not DPSing with spot healing here and there. Imo a healer should be using healing spells as much as a DPS is using DPS abilities. Been a healer since the back end of Tbc, but honestly done with it now. I love healing, just a shame it's no longer what makes a good healer. Having a blast just ignoring everything now on my new melee.

I have to say, I don't really understand this article, or more precisely the writer.On one hand it's mentioned that currently melee dps are prefered to deal with the orbs. But I have yet to see any melee dps get even close to what my preservation evoker or blood dk has in terms of killcount for the orbs. And I mean differences like 130 orbs killed by healer or tank and 30 by all melees combined.And in another note there is that subtle push to make the orbs a healer thing full-stop, because they can just heal through 40% damage on top of all the other %^&* that is going on.I mean, have you played RLP? Did you ever even THINK about letting an explosive orb go through in the upper ring? Or in NO with all that random damage just flying everywhere? You don't just "let the orb explode and the healer has to deal with it." Why would you even mention this line AT ALL?
Some organized groups leave the orbs to the healer, the healer actually wants to do the orbs. It doesn't impact their damage, and it leaves the DPS to do damage and it becomes a free affix. Also if one goes off, that's usually rare and tanks do generally help after they establish aggro. In fact some tanks take care of the orbs to like this.Pugs though, some groups invite someone who put it on them to deal with them. There are many ways to deal with these orbs, i don't know what the big deal is - besides bugs such as multishot not hitting orbs as your main target aside. Just how much health do they have now is going to be the question is this a swap to and nuke affix with no time added to the dungeon, meaning its just a get your vault slots done and move on week? Or is it going to not effect timers and just the health is you like kill command vs auto shot the orb to eliminate it?
DELETE Explosive (and Quaking).KEEP Volcanic and Grievous (hear me out).Change Grievous to 80-85% threshold to remove the last stack.Make eating food outside of combat actually REMOVE Grievous stacks.Make healing outside of combat outright remove the last stack, but it comes back on entering combat again if health is still low.Then for these new affix ideas, drop Entangling because it WILL cause a lot of really cheap deaths like Quaking does. There's basically no way to properly balance it without making it trivial in almost all situations. The slow can kill you just for making it impossible to move when you 100% NEED to move (Odyn Rune for example), and the stun part can kill you those times when you just can't move away from the vine (Hyrja storm).Make sure Incorporeal ghosts just go away once they get hit with any crowd control, but even then this affix sounds really stupid. Needing to keep a ghost locked down for 20 seconds is already going to feel awful, let alone when most likely a significant portion of CCs out there won't work on whatever enemy type it is.Afflicted is going to range from trivial dispel version of explosive to "I literally can't even do anything about this ghost because I need my dispel for this fight AND I can't stop healing." Every group is basically going to need to have at least one other person in the group take their dispel just for times when the healer literally can't spare the dispel or take the time to heal it.
So reverted it basically back to where it was in BFA where it took a rogue, dh or hunter to kill them in 3-5 hits. No one likes this affix, its just busy work trying to slow down a job, I wonder whose 'job' its going to be for pugs now. If we could macro target the orbs it wouldn't so annoying, but doing multiple big pulls and having a ton spawn, I feel like the UI of actually targetting them is the real enemy/bottleneck here.
If this goes live they better be cleavable or something if not please fire the absolute psychopath who is designing these affixes
