Wrathion's little mistakes caused war, death and suffering that has NOT been adressed nor repaid. He has NOT made up for that nor could he ever hope to. He should never be forgiven for it, even if his future actions might be less manipulative and cynical.I like neither of them. Wrathion is proven to be as manipulative as Onyxia and utterly without empathy or regret. The only reason he acts like he's regretful is because we caught him with is pants down and called him out. And whoever wrote this article seems to be wilfully blind to how Wrathion hasn't changed diddlysquat. He's still arrogant, self-absorbed and rash.Sabellian is too much of an unknown. We don't know what he did, how or why nor what his intent is. He's a complete stranger who's said nothing about himself except for scant, shallow and generalized events. How do we know they're even uncorrupted? Did anyone check?Neither of them is a good choice. Ebyssian is far, far better. I truly hope he shows up and smacks them both down. But knowing the story-writers I don't have much hope for that happening.
It will be Ebyssian. That is the only way to make it so there isn't in fighting with the black dragon flight
Hmm let me see. *Checks the loading screen showing all the aspects togueter*It's gonna be Wrathion.
Wrathion really?Wrathion kept trying to end the conflict by trying to get one side to conquer the other, that won't make for a united Azeroth.Wrathion goes and send us to kill other black dragons and a red dragon in CataclysmWrathion then manipulates everyone to defeat the Mogu, and then free the Sha in Mists of PandariaWrathion conspires with the Infinite to free Garrosh and send him back in time to Draenor to change the world's path and invade AzerothWrathion attracts the Burning legion to invade us, causing the death of two beloved characters, Varian and Vol'jin.Wrathion ends up being absent during the Battle for Azeroth except to give a potion to help Ebonhorn, and help fight N'zoth in the end, and he was completely absent during Shadowlands, for a dragon claiming to be protecting Azeroth, how could he not notice a big gapping hole in the skies over the Northrend?I say that a case for him is not what i would favor, he's responsible for 2 or 3 wars on Azeroth, countless lives lost, and he's suited to be leader of the black aspects. Now i favor Sabellian, yes, he was in Outland, he was protecting his flight, he was helpful to us in the Blade's edge mountain quests, he wasn't trying to kill us, he wanted to defend his flight, and we did ask in chat boards on Cataclysm and since then, what's Sabellian doing, there's nothing in the case of Sabellian that would make me say, he shouldn't lead, he had other dragons on his side, where wrathion had none, and Sabellian hasn't been interfering into the affairs of mortals after Burning Legion, his actions have been to protect his flight, He might've rebelled when he found out his father went mad during Cataclysm, and hid his flight from him. Sorry, but i'd go with Sabellian all in, Wrathion causes damage, and lacks maturity to lead, sorry but I'd have to respectfully disagree with you.
I don't know why people favor Sabellian so much. He was basically doing nothing, and then he appears and give claims for the aspect title like it was his birthright.Just like Vereesa Windrunner did with the Sunwell after Fury of the Sunwell storyline...
is a Tortollan able to take control over the black dragonflight ?
Sabellian is Deathwings' genocidal general who cured black dragonflight of old god corruption, according to Sabellian. Now, from a storytelling perspective it wouldn't make sense to have him and his black dragons fall to corruption, as we would be spinning in circles story wise, and ultimately nobody would care, he would be just another raid. He just got pulled from a magic hat and put into Dragonflight to give it another flight. But from our characters position it is perfectly viable to doubt him. Deathwing was under old god influence for thousands of years before he decided to play his hand, what says that Sabellian wouldn't do the same?Ebyssian would be great as an Aspect, which would leave Wrathion as a morally grey rogue type character that acts from shadows, which suits him quite well, and enables Blizzard to pull him out whenever they want.Edit: People seem to miss the mark on leading a flight and being an Aspect, Sabellian could lead the flight just fine, but to become an Aspect and lead the flight, if thats gonna be possible at all, he's in no way capable of being that, he has to care for all of Azeroth and all beings under his protection, not just his flight, which he does not.
Crazy idea: the Outland Black Dragons, specifically Sabellian, haven't truly been cleansed of the Old Gods' corruption. They're either a) still corrupted and hiding it or b) only THINK they've been cleansed and the corruption is laying dormant. Either way, the Old Gods, via the corruption, are playing the long game and just waiting for the perfect moment to rear their ugly little heads in order to strike a fatal blow against the other Flights, and through them, the Titans. With no Aspects, no Titans in the way, and just a bunch of mortals that could easily be swatted down, the Old Gods would be able to reclaim Azeroth for themselves. Final raid would involve something to do with the Old Gods, killing/cleansing the Outland Black Dragons, and rebooting Tyr...and Wrathion claiming the Aspectral power.Like I said, crazy idea and completely off the cuff. I really doubt this will actually happen in any way, shape, or form as I don't think the writers at Blizz think this way (idk if that's good or bad).
This article is laughable with bias.
With all the dragon theme I just wish some former dragons not tied to the aspects also played a role. With Sabellian's return maybe he could have enlisted the Netherwings of Outland or the Netherwing leaders approached dragon isle of their own accord.I really liked netherwing would have been fun to see what fate brought them.Or the Thorignir of Stormheim. There was also dragons in Shadowlands but don't count them as part of the "mortal" realms like Azeroth and Outland.
I'm tired of Wrathion. Wrathion has literally been Khadgar'd at this point. And he's too edgy, too over-written, too overdone. He's like a cover boy for the dime-a-dozen vampire erotica novelette. Blizzard ought to branch out, try something a little bit different for once that isn't so obvious. I'd even be cool with a council of three between Ebonhorn and these other two. The most powerful aspect, who already fell to corruption once, needs to be something other than a literal child. Makes zero sense to go Wrathion other than to perpetuate another bad character arc just because it's familiar. We've gotten expansion after expansion of Wrathion's oh-so-steamy but mysterious bad-boy edginess laced with a dash of likable anti-hero cliche. Come on, now, it's such a trope. I know many people don't really go beyond the realm of Twilight or Anne Rice when it comes to their literary hobbies, but it doesn't mean every story should suffer because of it. Sabellian makes more sense than Wrathion in every regard. For starters, he didn't bring a doomed alternate timeline to Azeroth (and literally one of the worst storylines of the game). And he also showed us how easily corrupted he was when N'zoth invaded in BFA; took no time at all and he was a mind slave. Is it even possible to be more of a bad choice? The thinking is simple; Sabellian is for veteran players who began in vanilla, BC, and actually remember the character. Wrathion is for those who started in Cata, MoP, or later and haven't the slightest idea who Sabellian is, so their choice is the guy who gave them their first ezmode legendary. You can guess who Blizzard is catering to here.
Having played nothing but a Combat/Outlaw Rogue since the tail-end of Wrath, and having earned my Fangs of the Father Legendary Daggers in Cata, I cannot help but support Wrathion...!
Personally I don't like either choice. Heck, I am even weary about Ebyssian. But here are some of the factors I role by when I am choosing. So let's start with Wrathion.Wrathion has been present throughout WoW in multiple expansion, a lot of people seem to forget that he actually did show up as an observer in WoD, even if he didn't do anything. Wrathion is a "Rogue" when it comes to class consideration, so for him to be obviously present wouldn't make sense. He is whelp, around 12 years, really, in human years and hasn't had anyone to truly raise him ever since his birth. He was meant to be born into "slavery" of the Red dragonflight, and used as a proxy earthwarder without his say so. He knew this, and so understandable would not play nice with others if it meant giving up his freedom. It doesn't change the fact that he is still very young and Naïve. He has made some major f-ups in the past, but the entire "He is the cause of WoD and Legion" is still a mute point in my opinion. I still believe that Kairoz (Whom the entire plan hinged on) was far more the culprit, seeing as they were a bronze dragon affiliated with the infinity dragonflight and an older and smarter dragon. He could easily have manipulated Wrathion into being the scapegoat should the plan fail or be discovered. Wrathion as well, eventually admits to his failings, and becomes more open with the heroes and factions of Azeroth, and even shares his guilt with people like Anduin. For all his failings, we cannot forget what he also did that was good. Without him we wouldn't have been able to beat N'zoth, or have the knowledge on the future invasion of the Legion. We would have lost Ebyssian, who is a very old and powerful black dragon, to the old gods, and lorewise, wouldn't have it as "easy" with defeating Deathwing, had his rogue champion not dealt with the corrupt flight before hand who were amassing forces. After MoP, everytime we've seen Wrathion he has been actively helping us, not sitting in the back, but sometimes paving the way through the shadows or fighting right at our side. Wrathion is "The devil we know" as players in this situation where as our next candidate is Sabellian.Sabellian is very old, he is an experienced leader, and strategist, and was lieutenant and right hand man to Deathwing. In the time before we as players know, he committed countless atrocities that could have meant that we might not have been existing had it not been for the other aspects. He was complicit and actively furthering Deathwings goals and didn't break off from Deathwings flight as he suggests, but was ordered to stay in Outland to safeguard the eggs they brought there. Just because we weren't affected by Sabellians actions in the past, doesn't mean he gets absolved from them. Even the other flights are extremely weary around him and the dragons he brought. Sabellians claim to have somehow purified the corruption is also suspicious, he doesn't explain how, nor give confident reason as to why we should trust the fact, but simply expects us to believe him. A manipulative tactic that he has used in the past before. Unlike Wrathion he is patient and scheming, he employs others to do the heavy lifting and dirty work before swooping in and taking the credit and glory, the same tactic he did when we dealt with djaradin and reactivating the oathstone alongside Wrathion. To his credit, he did bring a clutch of eggs back from the outland, which may be saved (if corrupted) by the titan waters they now rest in. But notice how he also has a clutch of eggs back at the obsidian citadel for some obscure reason we don't know. I honestly don't believe Sabellian is all so uncorrupted as he claims to be, just that he and his clutch has been away from Azeroth for so long that he hasn't been affected enough to the point where he doesn't "Feel" corrupted. Then there is Ebyssian. Yeiks... There ain't much about him at all. We know the least about Ebyssian, and what we do know is what we would call "The bare minimum" and even that in my opinion is a stretch. He doesn't care about dragons or their politics, he isn't interested in leading or being part of a flight. His allegiance is entirely to himself and the highmountain tauren. He is docile and caring, and has never been a leader, but instead of a guide and advisor, not to an entire people mind you, but to the leader of an entire people, which makes it less demanding. Ebyssian is a ten thousand years old dragon NEET, with a Naïve viewpoint upon the world and even less experience with it than a whelp (Wrathion), who has never once been part of a strategy that involves conflict before DFs pre-patch. He is a boring character meant to be there to make players feel safe, because they know he is to docile to pose a threat or interesting plot that can change the norm. He wouldn't be an ideal leader, he wouldn't evolve the story of the Black dragonflight like the other two candiates. Instead he would bring to a screeching halt. He was quick make to fix a questline, when Blizz chose to cut out Wrathion from Legion, (See legion beta), where Wrathion was meant to find a clutch of uncorrupted black dragon eggs.TL;DR - All of them are bad choices for leadership, but rather the devil we know, than the one we don't in my opinion.Wrathion has a story plot that moves forwards in his ambition to become the Earthwarder to safeguard Azeroth and its races.Sabellian has a story plot that is focused on himself and his flight and really nothing else as he clearly doesn't care what happens to rest of Azeroth or its creatures.Ebyssian doesn't have a story plot that can move anywhere, but to be the "Token advisor" to either of them, where lets be honest... Only Wrathion would respect and listen to him in that case.
in b4 their little sis appears to take over ;)
Wrathion is up to something diabolical..
