Man they are so behind this "story is so big we need 3 expacs to tell" thing its crazy and getting cringe already.Just tell us you want more money with less content so 3x$9050 > 1x$9050. Wonder how "faster" expacs gonna look like, because I have a feeling they will delete fated recycled season and call it "hey, its shorter isnt it?", leaving us with the same 1 new raid/"new" dungeons every 6 months bs roadmap. Also they made beta p2w instead of free is astonishing. I loved being in the beta every time so when we have/had nothing to do for 1 year (will be the same this time) I can/could play beta and forget about live being dead.
I guess we can expect to see more love, friendship and musicals coming to warcraft in the coming years, can't wait for more disney. We can see the disney direction in the expansion cinematics already, have you guys noticed that the shadowlands cinematic was the last one with real action? For dragonflight and the war within we just got people talking and nothing happening. Please give us something other then a 5 sec end of raid clip of sarkareth asking us a question and then dying.
This reminds me of Rings of Power showrunners and how they want Sauron to be like "Walter White" in season 2 ... I don't think Disney is doing good nowadays especially since they bought Marvel.. Laying the ground for Warcraft starts with meaningful story telling and staying away from real life politics and the need to appeal to "modern audiences" .. Warcraft has enough story material .. almost as big as Disney and Marvel ... it just needs good story tellers and purpose. I was sold Shadowlands for a small hope to interact with Arthas and a possible interaction with Uther... But somehow a no body became the Arbiter, Uther became purple, and Arthas disenchanted into 36 anima... This makes the whole Afterlife cinematic meaningless .. Bad story telling, although I actually enjoyed SL levelling experience and some zones .. it missed the mark big time story wise.
Guys... come on. I know it's hard to read things properly when you're already determined to be upset, but if you actually read the statement in its own context instead of thinking "WoW's story is bad because it's all good times and friendship like a Disney movie" you'll see that the *actual* thing he was saying they want to model themselves off Disney about is the longevity of franchises and the way recent Disney properties/the Marvel movies have wide-spanning storylines across multiple years and media. I'll even post it here again so it's easier to read:
some comments seems to be written by very sad people. There is nothing in the stories or the tone of the interview to create that much fear and heart in your mind.About "disney", the company is old and had many "periods". Today there is a LOT of stuff produced by disney, and maybe you need to watch any marvelstarwarjones the american industry is producing every month, same with your transformerrScaryMoviesSaw 15.you have many choices from Disney, Warner and others A24 studiosand in games, not only Warcraft is very deep and rich games, you can also take some pause or just a change of rythme with one of the hundreds of thousands games existing from all around the world. You need to breath a little.-about wow story, I have nothing wrong to say about Dragon Flight. and Warcraft 2 had a stupid basic story. Warcraft 3 was really interesting with Frozen Throne. Then Wow expanded every hint of the old war games in many many interesting and also crazy directions.
...you're looking at Disney for an adult war IP? That's... extremely out of touch, to put it politely.
Disney as a model? Oh no. This is going to end badly.
Oh great... I'd long suspected Marvel as an inspiration (an awful one looking at the results from SL), this just confirms and doubles down on it. It's bad enough to have drawn out movie series that you have to wait a decade to see the conclusion of but now we have a game where even optimistically I don't think we'll see expacs more often than 1.5 years so we're probably looking at the same decade to just understand some of their soulless new writing and thinking. All kinds of frustrating mysteries and inconsistencies (as well as lore retcons and nonsense) will be dangled in front of us I'm sure. Instead of burning through too much content too quickly (story of their life from BC through BFA) now we go to the opposite extreme, languishing on bad plot arcs and unsatisfying conclusions that are years in the making. People could take and forgive 2 year failures that they moved on from after those 2 years, if they mess up and anger people on the trajectory of just this trilogy it won't be something they can correct their thinking on in a 2-year time frame. It's the type of thing that could really gut the remaining playerbase further in the same way SL did.
blizz, gimme an afk game. come on, gimme gimme. i'll play that gacha game until the tauren come home...
South Park recently reminded why going the Disney route is a recipe for financial disaster. I already see a lot of that crap seeping it's way into Dragonflight already.
I really was hoping for a fulminant end of wow not this slow cash milking death. I just want to finish a story as long as I live. Same with OnePiece and Detective Conan. Well I guess I will die first. So sad.
I have a feeling Sam Wise retired because his brutal art style has no place in the "edgeless" content we've been seeing.
I think they meant look at Marvel for inspiration. Also, it would be nice to be able to play Warcraft Rumble without having to buy a brand new phone just to be able to play it.What's it like? I downloaded it and got excited and then realized that it won't work on phones which are 1-2 years old. Sucks.
That's why we had this bad 10.2 cinematic raid with avenger feeling. My expectation was bad, but hey managed to disappoint me
