looking at this from purely a PVE angle, 2 charges is insanely powerful in m+.
This will be interesting in BGs. Warriors can leap 3 times and door twice to make it across the map.
Look at the bright side. They're actually doing balancing IN BETA. Seriously this ability was too OP as it stood beforehand.
Necrolords can have a 50% max HP shield if it's from an elite, I wouldn't call that terrible at all. Soul shape shadowmeld is also pretty sick and you get 3 teleports with that in addition to it. There are also conduits that make soulshape take 10% less damage while in soulshape from all sources.Getting hooked behind a teleport shouldn't sway you in addition to trying things out for your own experience and conclusions while not leaning off of peer pressure of others to "what's best" etc.I'm siding with Revendreth regardless because I identify with the spooky and gloomy stuff anyway. Things will change moving up to release (as expected) so don't get too upset on yourself or other stuff guys. Side note: I hope those of you that are getting into beta are actually testing, reports from different friends say people haven't been using it very well on that opportunity. We need continuous feedback and bug reporting really badly. Please submit all you can to help out, Blizz can only present us with stuff and it's up to us to do our part as the community.
glad to see them focusing on covenant balance for a bit. Honestly that instant teleport had me staring at Venthyr as a DK even though I really really wanna be a necrolord just because I'm an unholy DK and I love that crap. HOWEVER....still....TWO charges of a teleport now? I don't think my desire is any lessened >_<
I hope Blizzard nerfs and buffs these things as much as Riot does their champions.:p
They need to just completely change that ability altogether. Any kind of 35 yard teleport is big enough to skip trash in dungeons is going to be mandatory for high end keys or you won’t get invited. Honestly if they just changed that teleport to something else entirely that would solve this problem, that’s what everyone is worried about.
Aggro radius is about 20 yards, that's a 40 diameter aggro range, PER mob, meaning there's very little chance you are skipping a pack with this ability that is only 35 yards, maybe a lone heavy mob, IF the layout that it is in allows you enough space to have 35 yards in a diagonal that cuts past its radius on both sides. There's no way you are reliably skipping mythic+ dungeon packs with this, especially with human error being a factor, a yard or so off by just 1 team member fails this, because the range is shorter than the total aggro range of a single mob.
So going from instant cast to a 1.5 sec cast time. IMO it should be set to 1.5 sec in Arenas/BGs. That is the only place where it would be OP as an instant cast. As it is now you are literally stuck and doing nothing for a total of 3 secs. 1.5 to cast and it triggers a 1.5 sec GCD. Since they changed it to have a cast time they should have left it to a 8 sec stun/disorient
How about nerfing 3 heroic leap? Imagine Warrior with that and also this teleport and Shattering throw against a Mage! I dont want to be forced to roll a melee dps for arena as an alt but guess what :D I have all classes now, If i have to I have to! I wanted to play Mage but with all this melee mobility, shimmer nerf etc… this is going to be a big question. Mage as it is already requires a lots of skill to play well now I am thinking maybe I should go easy way as well!Blizzard Devs all rolled Melee DPS for SL now?
I mean, 2 charges of DoS is obviously good in some situations in the same way that some talents are good in some situations. You do realise that it is a soulbind which means that you miss out on potentially better situational soulbinds if you exclusively use this. Its like complaining about talents being useful situationally such as Posthaste and Tiger's lust for the Mythic wrathion. If this is so good to you then pick it, but i'll bet my bottom dollar that it won't be so useful for majority of content in terms of survivability and DPS compared to other covenants/soulbinds.
Honestly 2 charges is probably worse. The cast time isn't that much longer than the global anyway.
How would you 'balance' other covenants to be in line with this? If one covenant, talent or spec is OP then surely it makes more sense to lower the anomaly to the level of others. You obviously don't think of the ramifications of making other spells more powerful to be in line with another; one of the other covenants might be at the bring of being OP itself and trying to 'balance' it will make that one OP!
Well they removed the only way to make Door of Shadow interesting... time to check other covenants then :(
