They should do some episodes of "Bot Buster" like Jagex used to do in OSRS back in the day. That should be entertaining for everyone. But seriously speaking, i thought that their anti-cheat would be powerful enough (for Vanilla Classic) to spot bots.
...Imagine saying, as a lead WoW dev, that you enjoy partaking in the sale of GDKP runs. Alongside Ybarra selling raid boosts, this just feels genuinely corrupt. Why fix the main causes of RMT and botting when you can profit from them? Good job.
Countdown To Classic Podcast is bestest podcast! <3 <3 <3
If Frodo had been rich and the Eagles greedy, he would have hired them to fly him all the way from the Shire to Mount Doom. The story would have already reached its end by Chapter II... but then we wouldn't have The Lord of the Rings. This metaphor sums up the current state of WoW, and its current average playerbase; this is what differentiates someone like Tolkien from the guys at Activision: he was into it for the art, they're only in it for cash. And while Tolkien created a world that still makes people of all age dream, Activision destroyed the world first created by Blizzard. Bryan Birmingham's replies are far less surprising to myself than they are to his interviewer (who used the term for pretty much every answer, apparently): he's not looking to make/maintain a work of art, he's only making sure he gets to pay for his home(s)/car(s)/yacht(s). Which is totally fine, I mean, but... well I hope you see my point.
Wait, what? Gold buying is a 3 day ban? Why the hell is it not a perma?
Josh is my favorite interviewer, so I'm glad he gets featured here :) He's such a warm character.
The red flags here are amazing1. if you really wanted to play Moonkin, there are other places to play.2. Ban duration for gold buying, increasing it from 3 days to something longerSeriously, Moonkin doesnt work in classic and the answer is... dont play it here then. The game was first designed hybrid classes were never actually hybrids - they just healers with specs the designers didn't want you to play. This was a dumb decision. Fixing will be literally fixing the game in a positive way. Increasing the ban duration on... buying? Wow nice work blaming the symptoms and not the problem. Everyone would have preferred to hear "We plan to continue evolving the game in a way that stops botting behaviours, like the pickpocketing change in BRD. If the bots find a new way to beat the system, the system will change to beat them."
gold buying should be permabanned. and nice job brian, you just advertised that you can buy all the gold you want and you only risk 3 days of not playing wow.its obvious they want the economy destroyed so they can justify wow tokens.
Woooow. Josh hit it big! He interviewed my dumb self on this podcast before Classic launched and I'm a nobody. Now he's interviewing the devs. That's amazing.
