Uh oh, I better hurry and get mine for the free pet before they make everybody get it!
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
actually its kinda better... countries like mine (chile, at the very bottom of the earth) don't have a wide access to authenticators, and if they came with the box it'd be very useful.
in lack of a creditcard we cant buy them.
As an iPhone authenticator user, I can say that it never adds more than a few seconds to login times. Just gotta be careful to remove and re-add whenever there's an update.
I LOVE mine. The extra 10 seconds to login is 100% worth it.
Yeah, getting authenticators to the 9million+ players already playing would be kind of an issue. Promoting them with the pet was good, seeing as lots of insane pet collectors would easily pay 7 bucks (or free, if they have an iPhone or iPod Touch) to get the pet.And yeah, it does pretty much make your account 100% hack-free, because I don't see how anyone could hack into your account, unless they managed to steal your authenticator AND find out your password AND your account name.
Got one already!
I've had one for a long time. Best money I could have spent for peace of mind.
Blizzard will definitely need a plan in place to make sure authenticators are in everyone's hands before they become mandatory, pretty much like what they did with the conversion to battle.net accounts. We'll likely see an expansion of mobile authenticators - hint to Blizzard: there are more phones and mobile devices than ipod and iphone that support apps. And if it's free for those two, it should be free for the rest...just sayin'Already the general forums are starting to get antsy about these rumors and it'll probably reach critical mass over the weekend. People just don't like being told what to do. The reality is that people in our community created this problem by paying for powerleveling and buying gold.
I just ordered one of these myself a few days ago, just waiting for it to ship. If they want to do this for every account, packaged in Cata box would be the way to go.
For $7 it's piece of mind; but if you aren't an idiot, you don't really need it.I was just thinking, what if publishers start putting out these kinds of devices for all kinds of games? You could end up with bucket full of these after so many years...
Speaking as someone who just suffered their guild leader getting hacked and the ensuing carnage it caused, I am now extremely pro-authenticator! The time spent logging in is a tiny bit longer for huge piece of mind.I highly recommend the phone/software versions.
The "two accounts" issue isn't really a problem unless you just don't want to merge them to the same Battle.net account. If you merge them to the same Battle.net account they would have the same password and use the same authenticator.
Mail it free and I will take it otherwise how do I pay for it?
