Great summary. I'm also looking forward to this spec in Dragonflight, and hoping some of the concerns you've raised are looked at during beta. Can't wait to run 4 poisons with DTB!
until the talents are simulated they are just conjectures, even so I see in the talents that you have not understood very well the new concept that they want to give the assassin and it is the POISON
I will play quadruple poisons first. Even though I believe it will go live as the weakest build...I am a dot person I assume \_(o.o)_/
Obviously won't solve all of our problems, but I still say making Poison Bomb one point, and making Kingsbane only scale with Deadly Poison would allow us to take the Amplifying Poison / Dragon-Tempered Blades combo, letting us live out the poison class fantasy more without our Kingsbane damage getting completely out of control.I don't know of any other specs with a six-point capstone column, and it is sad to be locked into just one capstone: you either take the six pointer for double poisons, or you index so hard into aoe or single target using one of the other capstones that the other isn't worth taking.Great starting point for a tree though, devs certainly have easy options to make this even more fantastic.
Hi all, after reflection there will be talents to change places:- with ,- with ,- leave alone in talent and put in node with .- but also reduce cooldown to 1min to align with our other cds and up the range to 15 or 20y.Regarding my general opinion on the tree I find it very cool despite the fact that it is rigid at the end, I think that as it has been said several times to add connectors in particular between (that will reduce to a point) which will go to on one side and on the other, so this will require balancing on which will either be to make it work only with or to divide the damage bonus by two. Finally, a little boost or modifications on , , and will be a real plus, if not delete them. Can't wait to see the evolutions and play DF.
Really hope shadow dance isn't clear bis, hate the playstyle.
Cut to the Chase as a 2 point talent to give less effect than we have in Shadowlands feels kind of bad, and seems like something no one wants to spend 2 points on. Since it was added back in to begin with as a quality of life improvement, I don't like the idea of the meta builds no longer having quality of life. Unfun. Would having CttC as a 1 point talent for +3 seconds (like we have now) be so overpowered?
Compared to the other specs this tree has fewer options and because of that they need to have nodes with 3 or 2 points and that feels like it's not worth to spend all that for just one node, specially to spend 2 points in a single node that we already have like Cut to the Chase. This whole tree is like spending all points to get where we are today in 9.2.5.Vendetta is bad for for some content and Deathmark don't solve it's issues, Indiscriminate Carnage is interesting, but it's a button to do faster what I already do in a pull. There's nothing new and nothing exciting about this tree, the best thing about it is that is a real talent tree. This tree needs more options and less talents with 3 and 2 points, I hope the devs finish their work with the Subtlety tree and there's some creativity left so they can focus on Assassination too, hope that will happen before 10.2, like when Fan of Knives got a damage buff of 'only' 30% to be par with other specs, and that was less than 6 months ago, what I mean is, if Assassination was in the devs radar that buff wouldn't have taken so long to be applied.
Assassins losing access to Hit and Run feels bad and it should be in the main Rogue tree with Fleet Footed being baseline. At least they can finally have 2 charges of Shadowstep but it still puts both Sin and Sub behind Outlaw in mobility for no real reason.Thistle Tea doesn't look good on paper but surely logic states that the point of the talent is to give Assassins energy early in the expansion when they'll fall behind because of it. At the very least it could lead to a more relaxed playstyle for those who don't want to deal with Shadow Dance even if their numbers end up lower. Also in regards to energy I don't see how any of these builds are actually going to work properly without Vigor anyway but to each their own I suppose.
I still think they should get rid of Slice and Dice. It's not a particularly fun ability to use, it feels very archaic. It is undeniable effective, but we've seen the Class function without it before, which tells us, that all the benefits this ability brings could, and have been baked into other Class and Spec abilities. When pressing an ability doesn't really give any feedback to the gameplay experience, whether or not it is effective doesn't matter. There are just much more satisfying buttons to press, but you are kinda forced to use this. It feels penalizing to not use, instead of rewarding to use.
