Kinda feels like we should get a list of what we can do/use in there, it might be shorter. They take a neat concept and make it complicated. I get some things are added for more of a prestige, and should be limited but this is a game and should try to be fun.
Purpose of the Mage Tower is a CHALLENGE.So yes, these elements all being disabled, as they either existed AFTER, or were not relevant when the content was, should not be involved.Legion-specific legendary items not being re-activated kind of sucks, and should be reconsidered. But if the fights were re-tuned to not have them factored in, then all the better. It makes the content evergreen: Anyone can do it regardless of how new or old a player is, without much issue of balance.I am certain there will be optimal loadouts, utilizing sockets, trinkets, and other nifty effects over the years. But it won't be anything heavily gated by time only or rendered unobtainable. We can still roll around in the non-Mythic+ Timewalking content with the overpowered fun. But the Mage Tower is content balanced in a certain way. This is not a surprise, and should not be taken as one.
Equipping most of these pieces will still be worth for the stats alone. The item will still scale, you just don't get the effect
Just wait till we get BFA timewalking and Horrific Vision timewalking. They will tell us we cant use the nzoth cloak, heart of azeroth or the essences. GGWP.
It's a fail because it reinforces the idea that nothing you do in the game has permanent value. They would be better off allowing some legacy effects to remain, provided those items can still be obtained by any player. So Dragonwrath would stay in but the MoP cloacks would be out. Still, blizzard gonna blizzard.
Leaving them in would give people a reason to play those expacs and if you balance it around people who don't have that gear you create an incentive to obtain it. This is a large mis-step.
Think people isnt understanding that this evens the playing field with those whom doesnt have legacy legendaries. And not having the new Mage Tower balanced around having them.Be honest. Would you really expect people have to grind legacy content for an event every half year?
Good. Like, this isn't the old Mage Tower. That is done and gone. This has different balancing and different rewards.I think people just hope to cheese it with their old stuff. >.>
I'd leave legion stuff working and only legion stuff.Reason? Grinding. Grinding is the bread and butter of any MMORPG.
I mean this is fine, this is the only way they can balance and keep timewalking content properly challenging. Simple ilvl scaling can't work in a game with so many strong borrowed power systems. The only problem is how will the classes play without those borrowed power systems, they are very bare bones without them.
Having to grind out past expansions borrowed power systems doesn’t sound like much fun. Balancing this around the base class so that players can just jump straight in without having to do that grind sounds fun. So, no, it’s not ‘ derp fUn dEtECtEd derp’, it’s a wise decision that will give TW mage tower longevity.
Ok, so ... why is Legion Stuff disabled in Legion Timewalking tho? That's wierd, ngl.
