This style of catch-up with gears is like MoP isle grinds. I'm fine with that. At least it provides a way for my alts.
Its suposed to help you catch up on gear not your main source of gearing. There are other sources of catch up gear that are faster with lower ilvl cap.
Lots of whining about "muh catch up gear invalidates the previous raids" Yes thats right, it does and we forced Blizz into implementing it when we demanded they attach an arbitrary number to players as a representation of how good they were and then we gate content behind it ie gear score/ilvl........jesus new players coming up at the moment can't even queue for certain levelling dungeons until they reach a certain ilvl....thats normal mode dungeons ffs! That problem would be compounded at max lvl when we are all in next tier content. You may not like it, but thats what WoW has become.....or are we suggesting anyone who decides to try out WoW tomorrow should be forced to potter around at lvl 60 scrimping and scraping a piece of gear here and there from the few groups they are able to pull together until they have the ilvl to unlock content the rest of the playerbase is currently playing at? Or remain behind until next expansion? The "good old days" of playing expansions are gone, they worked because players werent gated behind an arbitrary number, but even that style had it's faults forcing players to guild hop their way into higher level content and use communities as stepping stones which resulted in a league table of guilds so to speak with some guilds ending up as gearing guilds with a transient population.quit crying about everything for once, allowing newer players to catch up to the most recent number lock does not invalidate yours, mine or anyone elses progress...it's a bloody video game we're all supposed to be having fun, if you take it this serious, honestly, find another hobby.
My main is only 214 ilvl. I can only play about 3 days a week at night now because of work. Knowing my skill-cap I know I'm not good enough to do mythic raiding so I accept that this is my cap and I am happy here. Honestly my 214 is higher than other expansions because weekly vault and weekly free gear. Gearing for casuals is extremely easier this expansion. The problem seems to be that people can't accept their skill-cap. If you can't heroic raid, you don't deserve a 213 ilvl. If you can't mythic raid you can't expect a 226 ilvl. But this expansion seems to give you a few free items to boost your ilvl and then when you reach your skill-cap, there's more you can do. I finished professions, play the AH, still raid and dungeons FOR FUN, talk to friends, do quests and collect mounts and pets. Just because you aren't good enough to keep getting gear doesn't mean the game is over or you deserve more. Either quit or do the 100,000 other things you can do in game til next patch.
The conclusion I see here is that catch-up gear shouldn't be on the same level as raid gear because if it was nobody would raid.Well people, if you only raid for fancy item reward then maybe you should just stop raiding at all as you don't seem to enjoy the activity itself if it doesn't end with extrinsic reward. Remember the time when people would play games because they enjoyed playing games?
Just wondering how much I'm going to have to do in order to gear my alts enough to be able to clear Legion raids again for transmog purposes. For me personally, that is the only reason I attempt to keep a few alts 'relevant'. I feel sorry for the people who genuinely play content on alts. Additional rep grinds, currency farms, etc... just not for me anymore. Those systems do not make me happy.
I swear, they should just some of these casuals play on the tournament realm so they can just pick and choose what gear they want so they can clear old content even faster.
A bit weird since you can get close to item level 200 rewards from the mission table/wqs right now. I assume this will "change"? Because if it doesn't change it would mean this will be the ONLY non m+/raiding/pvp way for alts past 200. Which is whatever but just wanted to point it out. Would seem like cake on cake having mission table, wqs AND then this faction reward "higher" item level gear. I'm guessing the world quests and mt will be capped at 210-220. It just seems like such an awful grind for alts, especially those who have a bunch. Then again it perfectly fits the goal of the game the last few years. More grind less fun.
Unreal requiremenents for the causal player.
I want BAGS to be BoA lol... Having full 30s on my main make me less willing to trash those for 32s when they could be sent to alts. Also, the randomness of the gear received is a pain... Like, if I need a shoulder but get a belt I already have, I could have just sent that to an alt
It can be effectively argued that this expac is very "alt friendly". Altaholics breed lazy game development imho. Give us more content, not more catch-up systems for alts. Not sure why people think it should be even more "alt friendly" when we've all been starving for more content.
