Mythic+ is ruining the competition.
I have a genuine question, which is going to sound like smart-ass snark, but I swear I really mean it, so please don't just write this off as just another nerd trying to yuck someone else's yum: Why is anybody interested in the Race to World First for Mythic Raids?I've been playing WoW for as long as it's existed, and I've never cared about anyone's progression outside that of my own guilds, raid teams, and friends. It was only recently, about two years ago, that I realized that people look at the various Race to World First competitors the same way they look at sports teams, which, admittedly, I've also never understood. 🤷🏻♂️ Is it just a marketing scheme? Honestly, I wish Blizzard didn't need to tune their systems around the best hundred or so players in the world. Is it a problem if they beat a Mythic raid on the day it comes out? My raid team has some really skilled players, but it will still be a few weeks before we're even running Heroic, much less getting Ahead of the Curve for this tier. I've never gotten Cutting Edge, but I've gotten Ahead of the Curve in every raid tier where that's been a thing, but I don't understand why people are so invested in the raid progress of the best hundred or so players in the world, and I feel like the Race to World First actively makes the game worse for everyone not actively participating in it.
"Mythic+ is ruining the competition.""Split raids and loot funneling are ruining the competition.""One character, one shared lockout for all difficulties - that's the way it should be."Reality check: none of you play WoW with such restrictions.
Some of these comments are crazy. Are people really questioning what others subjectively enjoy and suggesting arbitrary restrictions? (in the same vein to the time-gating and other unfun mechanics we've dealt with for the last ∞ years of Warcraft, which have finally been almost entirely removed due to player feedback, albeit through thoroughly greasy methods.) RWF is an entirely a community-driven event, because to those that participate, it is important to them that they try and be the first guild to clear the raid. Watch it if you want, don't if you don't... And if you want the toy, mute the tab, not the stream. It is 2 hours that you don't even need to be there for.Let people enjoy what it is they enjoy...
If loot funneling, mythic + etc didnt exist then the raid would takes weeks to finishWe see in RWF sanctum that this really takes a toll on the players in cases where the raid goes on much longer than expected. Some have regular jobs outside of WoW they need to get back to as wellEveryone gets something different out of the game, if you don't enjoy it, dont pay attention to it :)I personally enjoy watching how these players approach the game and how they've finely tuned every aspect of their gameplay! I believe the only downside to RWF and MDI are classes not deemed meta getting ignored for groups, it sucks but hafta just push through :)
