This is penalizing the player for having agency over how he gears. No liking this. This will cause players to have the constant need of simming and the fear of having a piece that is literally worse than other of lower ilvl because a chunk of the secondary stats are wasted.Instead of focusing on secondary stats and capping hard them, focus on revamping or making main stats better; Secondary stats are right now what defines one playstyle over other, one spec over other, while main stats are just a filler.Play with both, make main stats give a special bonus so its better to focus on main and leaving secondary to that, a secondary, as right now try to be useful as a char without secondaries but a lot of primary stats over someone with a decent amount of both primary and secondary stats, and you will notice the abysmal difference.
At some point, you have to wonder if the people of Activision actually hate us, or if the people they have with these ideas are simply on the spectrum, and their ideas are merely being implemented as an "atta-boy!" for them.
So your class will be near the exact same the entire xpac then is what im getting from this. If 25% haste for example feels extremely slow for your class/spec your going to be feeling that the entire way through SL.
Yet again, Blizzard doesn't understand that they are solving problems to issues they've created. The base problem is the number of ilvl within a single tier of content and how many difficulties there are. Reducing ilvl gap is how you solve this, not with stat diminishing returns. This solution is so dumb that I wonder if they really are just trying to kill the game. I can't wait until Amazons LOTR game comes out.
Maybe if they just made Primary stats more meaningful and lessened the overall impact from secondary stats would be a better way to solve this, then ultimately it would be ilvl always over secondary. Then every upgrade would feel beneficial vs ugh this is a trash gear as it has no x secondary stat so imma vendor it.
R.I.P. monks and other classes which have terrible scaling.
Is this some dumb way for Blizz to 'force' us to just use whatever gear we get because stat penalties are going to bring them all closer together? Or is this some dumb way to make balancing easier for Blizz by not having to worry about stat scaling as much since we won't really be able to get that high anymore?Either way, grats to Blizz for figuring out how to make gear from the last patch of an expansion relatively weaker than entry-level gear. Still stronger, sure, but the bigger numbers are going to start lying and the game of course isn't going to communicate this to players without them using some sort of addon.
It's so funny to see newbies pretending they are hardcore and complaining about a system that has been in place ever since gear got "ratings" instead of flat %. To those who didn't know, stat ratings have always had diminishing returns, even in Legion. It's meant to discourage players to stack a single stat. That's why we used to talk about "soft caps", that's when a stat isn't the best stat anymore. For some reason, secondary stat DR was disabled in BfA. My guess it's because Azerite armors have no secondary, and Blizzard thought we wouldn't be able to reach high levels of secondary stats, or maybe some programmer screwed things up. It's the same thing as spells doing a variable damage: spells never done a fixed amount of damage before damage normalization, because spells used to do damage based in your weapon swing, which has a min and max damage. Now some people that "claim" they have been playing for a decade complain about something that has always been in place. You all started to play the game during Legion/BfA if you think any of this is new.
Probably his true name is Nobody so he says what he does not like:D about pretty much everything. I am playing the game for 15 years and i do like these change even aoe cap, it give more dept to the gameplay cus defs can do very intersting fights with it. I dont know how about mr Nobody, but i am bit bored with big pull-cds- aoe cc.... over, again again and again. Or bosses weak auras for 1000 debuffs and then just stack, spread run azshara mythic gave us the big upgrade spread+stack+run out+ CIRCLE... day...
So, when are they planning to add the reforging vendor again? Soft caps are back, and with that the situations when you get a new shiny item that's technically bis but because you're not close to your complete bis yet those secondary stats will break into the next penalty threshold making it less attractive than the item you already have.
For people who still don't understand:Let's say you have a piece of gear that gives you:10 crit (POINTS)10 haste (POINTS)and let's focus on the haste stat only (for convenience)Assuming that for your class and spec 10 haste (POINTS) translates into 1% of haste stat, with these changes, it means that whenever you reach 25% of haste stat, each 10 haste (POINTS) will instead translate into 0.9% up until you reach 34% of haste stat. Then each 10 haste (POINTS) will translate into 0.8% until you reach 42% haste stat, and so on (look at the penatly write out in the op post), up to 106% stat gained from gear points and flat points buffs.
This isn't the first time any combat rating stats have had DR. Y'all will cope just fine.
Don't know. This seems like it will gut classes that require high secondary stats to function. If your class plays like crap unless you have high crit, how is this going to work? BM hunter needs high crit to take advantage of talents that are otherwise useless. It's main "maintenance buff" requires high crit to get reasonable proc rates. This seems bad outside of the extreme high end.
