Can there be hookers and booze?
"better recognize the talent of our highest performers and keep us competitive" They even say it themselves: money only for those who do tons of overtime working around the clock. To the above poster: sure some people get fired for good reason. But should workers not be able to buy enough to eat from their work? Especially when the company revenue is growing?
That's the reason why wow is so lazy with xmog and content
Doubt this is the only company with underpaid workers, still, sucks though.
well at least there not outsources there employees from other countries.. thank goodness for that.
If you think you deserve more money, demand a higher salary. If they don't pay you and fire you, that means that you were wrong. I can guarantee that the salary they earn is at least 10 times what I earn. There is no such thing as an unfair wage, if you think your wage is unfair go work somewhere else. The fact that you don't go work somewhere else proves that the wage is fair. If you want a higher salary, be more valuable to the company, that is it.
The problem is not Blizzard. The problem is California. Blizzard should relocate. Irvine among other areas is horrible... and why? It's a broke state.
This is common in the digital entertainment industry. But i do see some ok figures here and there :s
Omg, I'm so shocked! Everyone could figure that out. firing staff and then rehiring new staff for lower payments. And an overpriced CEO. Say what you want but Activision is just money, hungry bastards like the most companies are. And people just buy their products each year and never learn.
Best thing would be the company moving to a midwestern state where the cost of living would be lower and that would be good money.
bUt UnIonS ArE SoCiALiSTSeriously, in Sweden you get a liveable wage for working at McDonald's.
I guess for California thoughts number might seem low but if Florida you would look like Scrooge Mc Duck diving into you money vault. In Flordia if you make 50K a year you rolling in the cash.
People say that this is no surprise. It's a surprise to me. I always thought Blizzard treated its people well. These salaries are just depressing. I make more than just about all of them, and I live in Ohio where cost of living is dirt cheap. This is terrible.
Not that I am surprised but the post didn't include a single shred of evidence, or an argument for
I'm looking at the salaries, and I envy them. 4000 $ a month for a full-time customer support? That's insane. In other companies, they'd barely earn the state minimal. In most of Europe, that's how much a Senior Software Engineer typically earns. And we're talking the before tax salaries here - taxes in Europe are insane. And America isn't nearly as expensive as northern Europe. What are they complaining about?
