Anyone know what the lockout on these are? Daily? Weekly?
At Blizzcon, Delves were advertised to drop heroic raid end-boss equivalent gear. By that logic, since gear is now upgrade-able, that would mean that a solo or duo/trio group player could earn the mythic raid appearances equivalent to a rank 1 on the mythic track (end of hero track). These later explanations seem to be a bit more vague, which has me worried that they'll go back on this promise that had so much support and hype from the expac announcement. I'm hoping, like others already stated, that this turns out to be much like how m+ morphed over the next couple of expansions after its intro in Legion. M+ wasn't always dropping mythic raid equivalent gear, and now that the catalyst's intro in SL made it possible to convert those m+ drops into tier, raiders are heavily reliant on their guildies running multiple m+ keys every week to prog through the higher difficulty raids.Taking this into consideration, I honestly don't see why some people have such a huge problem with Delves evolving in the same way. There is a sizable chunk of the player-base in both m+ and raids who are incredibly toxic to those trying to enter their preferred mode of endgame. Newbies shouldn't be harassed so much, and leveling dungeons have been negatively impacted by the m+ timer, where leveling new players or alts are left in the dust when a m+ player wants to rush through absolutely everything (and then has a tantrum when they're told to wait, or when newer players don't proc)... I've seen this happen multiple times in heroic/leveling dungeons, even timewalking has been affected. Delves at least offer people relief from having to deal with some of the terrible people that play this game.I've raided since season 2 of SL, and took part in the m+ grind in season 3 SL. M+ was a toxic slog; it'd usually take over an hour to join a group due to multiple refusals, and then there are those who throw a tantrum and break the key because things wouldn't go their way. Most of the time that my community was running keys was when I was at work, so I had to pug. Heroic raiding has guilds and community groups acting overly weird. Suddenly that chill atmosphere you joined the group for has dissipated and now they're getting at you for every minute thing that originally didn't matter at all. Arguments break out near the final bosses and the community breaks or fractures and progress slows to such a crawl that they don't continue raiding in the next season...Raid finder is not much better. The queue times are ridiculous, and the faction divide makes the wait times even longer. Sometimes a heroic/mythic raider joins in and afk's the entire encounter, and then has a hissy fit when they're called out for it. Tanks don't wait for everyone to be in the boss room before pulling, or for everyone to be fully rezzed. They then blame everyone else for this. Someone makes a minor mistake and, instead of calmly informing the player how things work, suddenly a "vote to kick" window pops up and that player is booted without a word. What's worse is that player is then punished afterward, unable to join another group for however long the timer is now.Yes, RF is supposed to be easier, but the game should not rely on players obtaining their information about the encounter from outside sources. The adventure journal should have the properly detailed encounter information that's so prominently displayed here on wowhead or icyveins. It just feels like the multiplayer parts of this game are broken, and there are those of us who are just tired.I just want Delves to be a great viable alternative that'll let me feel just as powerful as the other endgame pillars, just as Blizz promised at last year's Con, and I know I'm not the only one.
The thing to keep in sight is that the game is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. That's what games are.Capping fun is stupid. Weekly lockouts are stupid."Sorry bro, you can only have this fun once a week." Like what?...If I'm FORCED to do content that I don't find enjoyable (or even very tedious boring) because its the only way to get geared because "reasons", then that's bad game design. If I'm DENIED the ability to do content more than once a week because "reasons" then that's bad game design.I enjoy raiding (but its often such a tedious uncoordinated mess with huge wait times), and what if this season I'm feeling like gearing via solo content? Why should my rewards be gated at Heroic if I'm able to clear higher difficulty content that would reward Mythic? There is no logical reason for it other than "hurr durr uR suPpoSed tO coS wE wAnT u 2 rAiD / dO gAteD cOntEnT To StrETch yOuR sUb tiME oUt tO bLeeD uR wALLEt."What happened to "We want to respect the player's time ("Time is money, friend!")"? More PR bs or are they going to honour their word for once?
Lots of people not understanding that WoW is an MMORPG. I'm okay with Delves giving Heroic track gear. We already have Mythic+ & Raiding that can give out Mythic track gear, there's no need for Delves to also do the same at all especially if Delves are meant to be a Single Player thing.Mind you, this isn't coming from me hating Delves or Single Players or anything. I frankly love the idea of Delves, I think it looks awesome but the thing is that WoW is an MMORPG, it doesn't make sense for the best gear to be rewarded in a single player system like Delves and completely invalidate anyone doing group-based content like Mythic+ or Raiding. There's already alot of people who get their 2k or 2500 in Mythic+ and/or AoTC in raids and that's it for them for that season. We don't need to make finding groups for Mythic+ or Raiding even more of a pain by having Mythic track gear in Delves.
Am I crazy or was there some kind of content where you can do some sort of event with your own alts? Maybe I am just misremembering warbands but man, how fun would these delves be if you were accompanied by your alts?
PLEASE LET DELVES BE MORE LIKE WORLD QUESTS AND NOT AT ALL LIKE SOLO DUNGEONS!The reason I don't dungeon is not because of other people (mostly). It's because I mostly find them boring. Delves look to have a lot of promise, but I'm a little worried they are just going to turn into solo/follower dungeons.- None of the platforming/puzzle elements were highlighted in the video. Looking forward to those.- Prospect of a Brann Bronzebeard NPC accompanying me feels more wary than fun. The follower dungeons showed me the NPCs are idiots about pulling things. In open world, I don't need a healer or tank friend, why do I need it in delves? It does give them a place to put upgrades so I guess that's fun.- The 13th delve being a single boss fight immediately made me go "ugh". I get Delves are for more than me. Some people will maybe like the "challenge" aspect ala Mage Tower. But mostly I think Dungeons fulfill a lot of that challenge gameplay. Please keep Delves a separate thing!I do mostly play with just two friends, so this looks like it could be a perfect group activity for us. Fingers crossed.
In terms of Gear Level, I think it should be based on game time. Do whatever activity you like, but if you spend X amount of time playing, you should generally get X level rewards. Now Raiding does have more time-management and coordinating involved, so that can be taken into account. And I think the simple fact is it takes hours of Raiding and Mythic over and over to get a small gear increase. But I spend many hours a week playing open world stuff and there's really no reason I can see why with the same amount of time, the gear level shouldn't be similar. If raiding is so unfun that it isn't worth the time... then gear level shouldn't be the only reason propping it up as an activity.
Delves are such a waste of actual dev time. Nobody will bother with them. Casuals do them for 2 weeks until they have their cosmetics, everyone else will do them one time and never again
anything that rewards gear not on mythic track might as well reward nothing.
