Why am I not surprised
It's china and if there is at least one party member invested in the company in any way then absolutely nothing will happen. Then again China may just slap down and ream Activision in China just because they can and there is absolutely nothing they can do to defend themselves.Removed
Jeez, that really is blatant. And I thought the ads for World of Kings were dodgy.
Some of the artwork also looks like fanmade, as in fan artists on the web made it and this company lifted it for their use. I know I've seen that Illidan and Jaina Chibis before.
Did Blizzard ever sue those guys that made that hilarious rip off of Overwatch? I wanted to know how that one went, it also looked like an easy case, but China is notorious for not giving any *****.
There is A LOT of android games based on Warcraft® artwork.
Difference between working with a company to make a game versus non-partner company blatantly stealing your IP.
I remember seeing this a year ago. I was wondering when they were gonna sue them.
Something tells me we will see something very similar announced at blizzcon XD
Hopefully Tencent owning a portion of Blizzard will give the Chinese courts a reason to hear this case.
I don't think Tencent cares about what happens to the lawsuit. This is less about winning the lawsuit in China (highly unlikely in any case) and more about setting precedent in the US, where you need to be seen to be actively defending your IP now in order to have legal grounds to defend it again in the future (IP laws are weird that way).
I don't see it...
Its China.. This lawsuit will do and mean nothing and will not get anywhere.. IP theft is one of the main sticking points behind the US vs China trade war at the moment. A company from the west will create something and China will copy it 1:1 and then use its almost-slave labor force to produce it incredibly cheap.
The chibi Iliidan - It looks like the design from the Cute But Deadly figure series to me...!https://www.deviantart.com/norsechowder/art/Cute-but-Deadly-ILLIDAN-512158549
about damn time they did there's a ton of apps that used assets ripped right from wow with minor palette or design changes
