This post covers all of the changes to Warlocks in Warlords of Draenor: talents, class abilities, specializations, glyphs, crowd control, and blue tweet clarifications. We've added in changed spell effects, set bonuses, and armor models as the beta has grown.

(Note: This guide is intended to be an overview of changes between Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor. Due to its popularity, we have included Patch Note updates for 6.1, but its main purpose is to compare the two expansions.)
Highlights
Here are some of the major changes covered below in the guide:
Warlocks had the most changes out of any class in Mists of Pandaria, so they are
relatively light on revisions for Warlords
.
Warlocks brought too much unique Raid utility, so
Healthstones and Demonic Gateway were adjusted
.
Demonic Gateway
s can be used every 90 sec, up from 45, sec, and placed 40 yards away, down from 70 yards.
Healthstone
s can no longer crit, and their cooldown won't reset until the player leaves combat.
For Affliction,
was too strong when there were small creatures to kill
, as it generated 4 Soul Shards. It now generates 1 Soul Shard, and has effects from Malefic Grasp merged in.
To encourage
to be used more in ideal situations,
now heals for a bit more
.
Grimoire of Sacrifice did not fit Demonology's theme--it did not make sense to sacrifice a pet full time. This has been replaced with a new talent that is more appropriate for the class' theme,

Fel Flame is removed since it's a movement-dps ability
, which is being reduced for all classes in Warlords.
When browsing the spell changes below and noticing that a coefficient has changed, keep in mind that the following changes have been made:
Intellect no longer provides an increased chance to critically strike with spells.
Weapon Damage values on all weapons have been reduced by 20%.
The base chance to critically strike is now 5% for all classes. There are no longer different chances to critically strike with melee, ranged, and spells.
Attack Power, Spell Power, or Weapon Damage now affect the entire healing or damage throughput of player spells.

Set Bonuses
Some of these set bonuses may be placeholders and are subject to change. Set bonuses in Warlords of Draenor have changed to be spec-specific, instead of one very wordy tooltip covering different aspects for each spec.
Item - Warlock T17 Affliction 2P Bonus
:
While channeling Drain Soul on a target afflicted by your Corruption, Unstable Affliction, and Agony, the chance for Nightfall to activate is increased by 5%.
Item - Warlock T17 Affliction 4P Bonus
:
When Nightfall activates, the cooldown of Dark Soul is reduced by 10 sec.
Item - Warlock T17 Demonology 4P Bonus
:
Hand of Gul'dan now has 1 additional maximum charge, and Corruption has a 2% chance to generate 1 charge of Hand of Gul'dan when dealing damage.
Item - Warlock T17 Demonology 2P Bonus
:
Hand of Gul'dan has a 50% chance empower your inner demon, temporarily bringing your Metamorphosis form out even while you are not transformed.
Item - Warlock T17 Destruction 2P Bonus
:
When Immolate deals damage it has a 4% chance to generate a full Burning Ember.
Item - Warlock T17 Destruction 4P Bonus
:
When a Burning Ember is filled up, you have a chance to cause your next Chaos Bolt to multistrike 3 additional times.
Item - Warlock WoD PvP Affliction 2P Bonus
:
Getting stunned, silenced, interrupted, or feared generates 1 Soul Shard. Can only occur once every 15 sec.
Item - Warlock WoD PvP Affliction 4P Bonus
:
After using Demonic Circle: Teleport, you gain 100 Versatility for 10 sec.
Item - Warlock WoD PvP Destruction 2P Bonus
:
When Immolate is dispelled, the cast time of your next Chaos Bolt is reduced by 50%.
Item - Warlock WoD PvP Destruction 4P Bonus
:
Reduces the cooldown of Conflagrate by 3 sec
Item - Warlock WoD PvP Demonology 2P Bonus
:
When you or your pet are below 20% of maximum health, you gain 1300 Versatility.

When your Corruption or Doom effects are dispelled, you gain 100 Demonic Fury.

Cataclysm
: Conjures a Cataclysm at the target location, dealing 0 (+ 750% of Spell power) Shadowflame damage to all enemies within 8 yards, and applying Corruption or Immolate.
Grimoire of Supremacy
: You are now able to maintain your control over even greater demons indefinitely, allowing you to summon Doomguards and Infernals as permanent pets.
Affliction
: Grants the Soulburn empowerment to your Haunt spell. Your Haunt spell also increases the damage of your damage over time effects by 15% for 30 sec.
Demonology
: Launch of ball of demonic energy at the target, dealing (250%412.5% of Spell power) Chaos damage. Each Demonbolt increases the cost of further Demonbolts by 50% for 40 sec (reduced by Haste), stacking up to 10 times.
Grimoire of Synergy
: When you or your demon deal damage, there is a chance to trigger Demonic Synergy, granting the other one 15% increased damage for 15 sec.
Destruction
: Incinerate and Conflagrate deal 60% less damage but generate 200% more Burning Embers. Fire and Brimstone can now also affect Chaos Bolt.
: Ember Tap causes 50% more healing, and refunds 50% of its Burning Ember cost.

Now has a 1 min cooldown, up from 30 sec.
Dark Regeneration
:
Restores 30%20% of maximum health over 12 sec to you and your pet, and increases all healing received by 25% for the duration.
: This is now a talent for Affliction and Demonology only.
Howl of Terror
: This is now a talent instead of a class ability.
: Drain Life deals 50% more damage and 150%100% more healing.
Grimoire of Sacrifice
is now for Affliction and Destruction only. Sacrifice your demon to gain one of its abilities, increase the critical strike chance of many of your single target spells by 35%, anddamage of your (Destro: Incinerate, Chaos Bolt, and Shadowburn) (Affiction: Drain Soul, Haunt, and Drain Life) by 20%. Does not apply to spells affected by Fire and Brimstone.Also causes you to regenerate 2% of maximum health every 8 sec. Lasts 1 hour or until you summon a demon.

You can cast Drain Soul, Incinerate and Shadow Bolt while moving.The cunning of Kil'jaeden allows you to move while casting Warlock spells for 8 sec. Castable while casting other spells.
Mortal Coil
:
Horrifies an enemy target to flee, incapacitating them for 3 sec, and restores 15%11% of the caster's maximum health.
Dark Pact
:
Demon sacrifices 20% of current health, down from 25%.
Soul Leech
:
Malefic Grasp and Fel Flame are removed, and therefore not included in the Soul Leech tooltip anymore.
:
Now has a 2 min cooldown, up from 1 minute.
Demonic Breath
: Sends a cone of dark energy before you, reducing the movement speed by 50% of all enemy targets within 10 yards for 6 sec.

Increases the radius of effect on your Curseof Exhaustion and Curse of Elements spells by 10 yards.

Reduces the duration and cooldown of Dark Soul by 50%.

Mana costs on all your spells are reduced by 30%, but Life Tap can no longer be cast, and your health will drop by 1% per sec. Your health cannot drop below 75% from this effect.

When you activate Metamorphosis, you no longer transform into a demon, but instead grow demon wings on your normal form.

Targets affected by your Hand of Gul'dan damage over time are now also snared by 50%.

: Nightfall's effects are now included in Corruption for Affliction warlocks.
Dark Soul: Misery
:
Infuses your soul with the misery of fallen foes, increasing spell haste by 30% for 20 sec.

Binds the target in twilight, causing 4 (+ 80%Drains the target's soul, causing 1 (+ 15% of Spell power) Shadow damage over 4 sec. If the target dies and yields experience or honor, one Soul Shard is energized. When Malefic GraspDrain Soul deals damage, it causes all of your other damage over time spells on the target to instantly deal 40% of their normal damage.
Haunt
:
A ghostly soul haunts the target, dealing 0 (295.5%412.5% of Spell power) Shadow damage and increasing damage over time you deal to the target by 35% for 8 sec.
Seed of Corruption
:
Embeds a demon seed in the enemy target, causing (126%94.5% of Spell power) Shadow damage over 18 sec. Detonates for (91%68.25% of Spell power) Shadow damage to all enemies within 10 yards
When the target takes 0))] total damage from the caster or dies, the seed will inflict (91%68.25% of Spell power) Shadow damage to all enemies within 10 yards after the target dies or takes damage from your spells
Nightfall
:
Your most recently applied Corruption has a 10%6.0% chance when it deals damage to cause you to regain a Soul Shard.

Hand of Gul'dan
: No longer snares the target. Strikes the target and all enemies within 6 yards for (86%165% of Spell power) instant Shadowflame damage and an additional (135%129.6% of Spell power) Shadowflame damage and 12 Demonic Fury over 6 sec.
: Drains life from the target, causing Shadow damage and restoring 9%6% of the caster's health over 6 sec.
Hellfire
:
Ignites the area surrounding the caster, causing (21%14 * 15.75% of Spell power) Fire damage to himself and (21%14 * 12.6% of Spell power) Fire damage to all nearby enemies every 1 sec. Lasts 14 sec. Generates over 14 sec 10 Demonic Fury per second plus 3 Demonic Fury per second on secondary targets.

Soul Fire

Every 20 sec, you gain Demonic Calling, causing your Shadow Bolt, Soul Fire, and Touch of Chaos hits to summon a Wild Imp from the Twisting Nether. Each Wild Imp will cast 10 Firebolts before departing. Each Firebolt generates 5 Demonic Fury, and has a 8% chance to reduce the cast time and mana cost of your next Soul Fire by 50%.
Mastery: Master Demonologist

Increases theall damage done by you and your demon servants by 8.00%6%. Increases the damage you deal in caster form by 8.00%. Further increases the damage of your Touch of Chaos, Chaos Wave, Doom, Immolation Aura, and Soul Fire while in Metamorphosis form by 24.00%.by 12%.

TransformTurn into a demon, increasing damage dealt by 24.0%, tranformingtransforming your Corruption, Hand of Gul'dan, Hellfire, and Shadowbolt into alternate improved abilities, and improving functionality of many other abilities. Chaos Bolt
:
Unleashes a blast of chaos, causing 258.75%210.75% of Spell power) * (1.24)] Shadow damage. Chaos Bolt always critically strikes and your critical strike chance increases its damage. Replaces Soul Fire.

When you cast Conflagrate, the cast time and mana cost of your next three Incinerates or one Chaos Bolt is reduced by 30%.
Conflagrate
:
Target enemy instantly explodes, dealing 0 (+ 172.5%189% of Spell power) Fire damage. If the target is afflicted by Immolate, their movement speed is reduced by 50% for 5 sec. Generates Burning Embers. Critical strikes double this effect.

Heals 18.60%5% of your health.
:
Your Immolate, Incinerate, and Conflagrate and Curse to consume a Burning Ember, hit all enemies within 10 yards of the target and deal 43.40% of their normal damage, dealing 50% increased damage to targets affected by Immolate..
Immolate
:
Burns the enemy for (61.1%45.825% of Spell power) Fire damage and then an additional (305.5%229.125% of Spell power) Fire damage over 15 sec.
Incinerate
:
Deals (154%132.825% of Spell power) Fire damage to an enemy.
Mastery: Chaotic Energies
:
Increases the damage of Immolate, Incinerate, Fel Flame, and Conflagrate by 8.00%.Increases the effectiveness of Burning Ember consuming spells by 24.00%.
Rain of Fire
:
Burns enemies in the area of effect for 25%18.75% of Spell power) * 8] Fire damage over 6 sec, dealing 50% increased damage to targets affected by Immolate.
Shadowburn
:
Instantly blasts the target for 262.5% ( + 315% of Spell power) * 1.24] Shadow damage. Only usable on enemies that have less than 20% health. Restores 15% of your total mana after 5 sec. Generates Burning Embers If the target dies within 5 sec, and yields experience or honor.
Affliction
Malefic Grasp and Drain Soul
have been merged together, there is no ability called Malefic Grasp anymore.
Nightfall
is now merged into Corruption.
Soulburn: Curse, Affliction
: Grants the Soulburn empowerment to your Curses. Your Curses will afflict all enemies in a 10 yard radius around your target. Soulburn: Curse does not inflict a cooldown.
Soulburn: Demonic Circle
: Teleport, Affliction: Grants the Soulburn empowerment to your Demonic Circle: Teleport spell. Your Demonic Circle: Teleport spell also increases your movement speed by 50% and makes you immune to snares and roots for 8 sec.
Soulburn: Health Funnel, Affliction
: Grants the Soulburn empowerment to your Health Funnel. Your Health Funnel will restore 140% more health and will reduce damage taken by your pet by 30% for 10 sec.
Demonology
Carrion Swarm, Demonology
: Flaps your wings, unleashing a wave of shadow which deals 508 to 560 (+ 50% of Spell power) Shadow damage, knocking back enemies and interrupting spell casting.
Demonic Rebirth
: If your summoned demon dies, you gain the Demonic Rebirth effect reducing the cast time of your next summon demon spell by 100%. Lasts for 20 sec. This effect has a 2 min cooldown.
Felguard: Axe Toss, Demonology
: Grants your Felguard the ability to cast Axe Toss. The Felguard hurls his axe, stunning the target for 4 sec.
Felguard: Felstorm, Demonology
: Grants your Felguard the ability to cast Felstorm. The Felguard recklessly swings its weapon, striking all nearby targets within 8 yards for 100% weapon damage every 1 sec for 6 sec. The Felguard cannot perform any other abilities during Felstorm.
Felguard: Pursuit Demonology
: Charge an enemy, instantly causing 100% weapon damage and increasing the Felguard's movement speed by 30% for 6 sec.
Metamorphosis: Cursed Auras, Demonology
: While using Metamorphosis, your Curse of the Elements and Curse of Enfeeblement become auras.
Metamorphosis: Void Ray, Demonology
: While using Metamorphosis, your Fel Flame spell transforms into Void Ray.
Nether Plating, Demonology
: While using a Demon Form, your armor contribution from items increases by 250% and the duration of stun and snare effects is reduced by 35%.
Destruction
Pyroclasm, Destruction
: Chaos Bolt will be affected by Backdraft, but consumes three charges. Now part of Backdraft.

: A demonic pact that increases the Stamina of all nearby party and raid members by 10%, ]increases your own Stamina by an additional 10%, and increases all healing you receive by 10%.
Create Healthstone
:
Creates a Healthstone that can be consumed to restore 20% of your maximum50000 health.
Command Demon
:
Voidwalker spell is now Suffering instead of Disarm. Added abilities for Doomguard: Shadow Lock and Infernal: Meteor Strike
Corruption
:
Corrupts the target, causing 0 (+ 148.5%234% of Spell power) Shadow damage over 18 sec.
: Now grants 5% Multistrike instead of 10% Stamina.
Demonic Gateway
: Now 10-40 yard range, up from 20-40 yard range. Each player can use a Demonic Gateway only once per 1.50 min
Subjugate Demon
:
Enslaves the target demon, forcing it to do your bidding. While enslaved, the demon's haste is reduced by 30%. Lasts up to 5 min Enslaved While enslaved, the time between the demon's attacks is increased by 30% and its casting speed is slowed by 20%.
Shadow Bolt
:
2.5 sec cast, up from 1.7 Sends a shadowy bolt at the enemy, causing (124.2%126% of Spell power) Shadow damage.
Siphon Life
:
Your Corruption spell will heal you for 0.5%0.35% of your maximum health when dealing damage.

Cauterize Master
:
Burns the Master's wounds, dealing a small amount of damage, then restoring 12%8% health over 12 sec.

Steals 1 beneficial magic effect from an enemy. If an effect is devoured, the Observer will be healed for of Spell power) + ((Spell power * 0.5) * 0.3)] and gain 60 Fel Energy.(Right - Click to toggle)
Devour Magic
:
Purges 1 beneficial magic effect from an enemy. If an effect is devoured, the Felhunter will be healed for 1308 (+ 20%0 (+ 30% of Spell power) and gain 60 Fel Energy.Auto-Cast:Use on the Felhunter's current target.(Right - Click to toggle)
Optical Blast
:
No longer silences the target for 3 sec.
Sear Magic
:
Now has a 30 sec cooldown, up from 20 sec.
Spell Lock
:
No longer silences the target for 3 sec.
Curse of the Elements
: Curses the target and all enemies within 10 yards, increasing magic damage taken by 5% for 5 min.
Curse of Enfeeblement
: Binds the target in demonic energy, reducing physical damage by 10% and increasing the casting time of all spells by 50% (10% on player targets) for 30 sec.
Decimation
: Merged into Soul Fire and Shadow Bolt.
Fel Armor
: Increases total health by 10% and the amount of health generated through spells and effects by 10%. Now merged into Blood Pact.
Fel Flame
: Deals 863 to 953 (+ 85% of Spell power) Shadowflame damage to an enemy.
Pandemic
: When refreshing your periodic damage effects, duration remaining on the previous effect is added to the new one, up to a maximum of 50% the base duration.
Twilight Ward
: Absorbs Shadow or Holy damage. Lasts 30 sec.

Draenor Perks
Draenor Perks are a new type of leveling reward in WoD. When leveling from 91-100, every other level you'll be randomly assigned one Draenor Perk each level that's appropriate to your class/spec, and when you hit 100 you'll have learned all of them. Instead of getting new abilities as you level, you'll get powerful enhancements to your existing core abilities.

Blizzard
Warlock
s received some polish but remain relatively unchanged. They saw the most change of any class in Mists of Pandaria, and so were in need of less revision this time around.
Ability Pruning
See the Ability Pruning section above for discussion of why we're pruning class abilities. For Warlocks, that primarily focused on removing niche abilities.
Curse of the Elements has been removed.
Demonic Rebirth has been removed.
is no longer available to Destruction Warlocks.
Harvest Life has been replaced with a new talent called

s into a cooldown of their own, and made them usable once per combat.
Demonic Gateway
s no longer have charges (up from being limited to 5 charges). Every Party or Raid member can use them once every 90 seconds (up from 45 seconds). The maximum distance apart they can be placed is now 40 yards (down from 70 yards).
Healthstone
's cooldown will now not reset until the player leaves combat. Healing from this ability is now a flat amount (instead of a % of maximum health) and can no longer be a Critical Effect.
Affliction Changes
For Affliction, we're happy with their rotation. But, Drain Soul was causing them to be too strong in situations where they had a steady supply of small creatures to kill. We reduced the effectiveness of its on-kill effect in order to solve this. Additionally, Soul Swap was changed to cost 1
Soul Shard
to push it into its intended role of being a more expensive but faster method of applying your periodic damage effects, and better balance it against
Haunt
.

Demonology Changes
We were unsatisfied with Grimoire of Sacrifice for Demonology. Fundamentally, it did not fit Demonology's theme to sacrifice their pet, full time. We had toyed with ideas where it acted as a temporary cooldown for Demonology, but have decided to replace it with a new talent, which is more theme-appropriate, and fits well against the competition in that talent row. We also tweaked the design of Master Demonologist, in order to solve some edge cases, and simplify and clarify its effects.
Mastery:
has been slightly changed. It now passively increases all damage by 6% regardless of form. While in
, it further increases the damage of
,
Chaos Wave

Immolation Aura

Soul Fire
while by 12%.
Demon pets controlled by Demonology Warlocks now deal 20% more damage.
Grimoire of Sacrifice is no longer available to

: When the Warlock or their demon deals damage, there is a chance to trigger

Movement Abilities
We've reduced the ability for ranged damage dealers to deal damage while moving in Warlords.
became a problematic talent because its mobility made
Warlock
s much stronger compared to other casters. We redesigned how the ability works to be more powerful in bursts instead of always affecting only some spells.
has been redesigned.
calls upon the cunning of
Kil'jaeden
to permit movement while casting
Warlock
spells. This spell may be cast while casting other spells and lasts 8 seconds with a 1-minute cooldown.
Fel Flame was removed.
Miscellaneous
Finally, there are a couple of miscellaneous changes. For Drain Life, we reduced the base healing somewhat, but massively increased the effectiveness of the Glyph which increases its healing, so as to help open up more potential
use in ideal situations. And lastly, we simplified
Shadowburn
a bit.
now heals for 30% less than before.
Shadowburn
no longer generates any mana.
now increases the healing of
by 100% (up from 30%).
