Gives two stacks of the buff. The buff lasts for 10 seconds, and as such, the cooldown on the spell starts immediately upon casting it (in contrast to Presence of Mind whose countdown doesn't start until the buff is used). Also, in the coming patch, it looks like there will be three charges and its cooldown will be reduced.

Just in case it isn't clear, you can cast this while channeling a spell and it won't interrupt the channel. This is true even if the spell in question can't receive Ice Floes' benefit (i.e. Evocation).

Now adds has 3 charges and works like Warrior's Shield Block where when you use up one charge it starts a cooldown. However you will still have two charges left that you can use.

You can press the button three times to stack these charges for the next 3 spells, or use it once for a specific spell.

Since the tooltip here doesn't make it clear, the ability has a 20 second recharge time at the time of this posting.

Edit: Actually has a listed recharge time now.

You can use this to mount up while running or falling (hopefully with slow fall on).

EDIT: Seems you can do just about anything that normally requires channeling, including crafting... I've found it particularly useful for fights with mechanics like the Orebender Gor'ashan fight in UBRS where the Rune Conduits require channeling to open. It seems that doing this doesn't consume your Ice Flows charge either.

EDIT #2: Can't mount as of 6.1 apparently :(

You can also Hearth, Portal/Teleport, Mount up, and mostly everything with this.
You can also mine ore while moving, though it won't remove the buff after looting. You must be standing still to actually loot.

An interesting and potentially useful thing to note is that this buff will not be removed for the first ~0.5 seconds, even if you finish casting a spell. As such, you can cast this toward the end of your cast and move around, and still retain the buff allowing you to also cast your next spell while moving, all while only consuming a single charge of Ice Floes.

I want to find out everything I could possibly do with Ice Floes as an Arcane Mage, there may be a few different with Fire and Frost. If anyone knows of any please share. I’m not sure if Racials would be relevant, but again please share if you know of any.

Since patch 6.1 you can no longer pop this and mount while still moving. Sad. :(

To those who are wondering if macros will help:
You can not use macros to make this spell 'one click and go', say:

/cast Ice Floes
/cast Frostbolt

This will fail horribly due to connection delay. If you use this marco and run immediately, the frostbolt will simply be interrupted.

However, this will work if you use macro and wait a few tenth of a second before moving. The time required is depended on connection. As long as this is kept in mind, this should function probably.

This means an additional button press is required. This adds difficulty to playing this talent, and enhancing dps.

It should be noted that this talent might confuse some people at first.
Here is the explanation, the ability allows you to move while casting, it does not impact anything else.
The ability ITSELF can be casted while using other spells and is not affected by global cooldowns, but the spells you use still are affected by global cooldowns and cannot be casted together with other spells as some people speculated.
It should also be noted that if you use this ability it instantly impacts the spell you are currently using, so this is very helpful if you suddenly need to move, you can just pop this and start moving, and if you need to keep moving while casting yet another spell you can stack the buffs.

Hopefully that should clear up any confusions.

Been looking around and can't find anything. If there is anyone watching this who can point in the direction of tracking the duration of ice floes in TMW, I would really appreciate it.

This has another use aside from simply allowing you to cast while moving. It also counter knock-backs, allowing you to continue to cast while being knocked back.

As a tip you will noticed that you can cast this ability while already casting a spell.

Both of these are useful when a foe starts attacking you suddenly in pvp or with aggro.

The description of the spell doesn't seem to properly explain that each charge gives you a 15 second period in which you can spam the spell of your choice while moving. I thought it only gave you a charge to use a spell while moving once, and then you'd have to use Ice Floes again and it took me way too long to notice how it actually works, since the description doesn't mention the 15 second period at all.

TL;DR You can use it and spam Fireball/Frostbolt/Arcane Blast etc. for 15 seconds for each charge, the Ice Floes buff doesn't get consumed after the first use of the spell.
