Disturbed Earth around any TWW location (Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, Isle of Dorn, Azj-Kahet) either drop wax or trigger a mob that drops wax.
How to find Disturbed Earth? Look for the small boulders highlighted in purple. Relatively easy to spot.
The Ringing Deeps and Hallowfall I think the easiest to do this quest.

This may be gated by launch vs. early access. I have the 10 globs of wax in my bag but I can't turn in the quest.

This needs to be fixed, either you shouldn't be able to pick these up or the ones you have already need to count towards the quests. What a terrible design, fix this Blizz...

These will be really hard to pick out unless you have Outline Mode enabled in the Graphics settings. I learned the hard way and forgot that I had the option disabled.

Aside from the fact that any you may already have before picking this quest up do not count, there's another weird thing about this quest. I will often pick up 2-3 per mob/container, yet it only gives me credit for 1.

Best done with steady flying.
Just fly above the ground from N <> S (or while doing other quests)
Watch out for the purple mud.
Took about 15min to do 6/10

You can go slowly with normal fly mode, follow the river and on both side you have a chance to find one :D
I found them in every zones (didnt try dorn but i guess you can find there too)

It looks like a small rocks formation (for me its sparkling i dont have the purple outline) and you have to do a small event to loot (ex: killing a mob, looting another rock, soaking 3 pools etc)

If you are lucky, the Disturbed Earth will spawn a Kobold who will throw several Odd Glob of Wax around.

A HUD addon that I use (with gathering and treasure hunting, but works in this) tha can be really handy on this is FarmHUD.

This, along with what others already spoke of switching to Steady Flight, can ease you in doing the quest.

A lot of them can be found at the farm in Hallowfall around /way 64, 30

It also only counts if you only get one. I just got 2 and it only counted one.....

FYI: there's an event where you need to defend loot from some kobolds that come swarming in. On completion it rewards 10 globs of wax, but it only counts as 1 for the quest.

Have to admit that switching flight style to steady flight greatly improves one's ability to find purple dirt piles.

The island west of the farms in Hallowfall is great for these. Few players, mostly neutral mobs, open ground.

Had no trouble completing the quest last week, but after reset this week I did world activities everywhere for 4 days and didn't find any. Dropped the quest and restarted, and then found 10 over the next hour or so.

Even when I can find them I'm not having anywhere near the success others are reporting. If I'm actively searching I might find one every 5 minutes, and usually there are other players around descending on the same spot.
