Quest reads 'from around Thaldraszus' but can be completed in other zones.

Since the quest gives exactly zero guidance...

For one, the listed zone as of this posting is incorrect. It seems you're supposed to be looking in the same zone as the Dreamsurge is occurring (right now, Waking Shores).

For two: this is a flying thing. Cruise around the zone on your dragonriding mount and you'll see bright green orbs, often under rock arches and stuff. Just fly through them to collect them.

Edit: Also found in green-white "plant" nodes called Dreaming Growth you can find on the ground. They are not restricted to herbalists, but only level 70 can interact with them.

Update now that I know some more about it: Dreamsurge Coalescence comes from most activities in the zone. It drops as loot from kills, for example. But there is still some confusion: There is only this quest given each week in the Dreamsurge-affected zone. However, you must complete it in the zone where you picked it up. If you're not done by the weekly reset, you'll either have to wait a few weeks for it to be in the "right" zone again, or drop whatever progress you had and pick it up fresh in the new zone.

I found that killing mobs of any sort has the chance to drop them. There are also plants I saw around ( some green, some blue) that do not require herbalism to pick and the aforementioned orbs you gotta fly to get. Orbs give the most Coalascence.

The real question is, is this WAI that it's a level 70 quest?

With the XP buff in the zone, and all the stuff you're doing to get said XP and coalescence, it feels like someone dropped the ball making this quest 70-only.

I mean, the Time Rifts quest, for all that it's massively borked-up that it's once per account, isn't 70-only.

This is a repeatable quest weekly, and character-specific, meaning every character can do it weekly (unlike the time rifts where the weekly is account-wide).

Sources for Dreamsurge Coalescence:

Collect by flying in the current Dreamsurge zone. Found under arches/ bridges. Gives around 5 Dreamsurge Coalescence per. Looks like https://imgur.com/a/OReLCxX
Click on Dreaming Growth found randomly on the ground. Gives 1 Dreamsurge Coalescence. Looks like https://imgur.com/a/6oAB4Jy
Kill mobs in the Dreamsurge zone. Gives 1 Dreamsurge Coalescence per.
Do world quests in Dreamsurge zone. Seems to give around 10 Dreamsurge Coalescence at the end, plus the 1 Dreamsurge Coalescence you get per quest mob.
Recommended: Kill empowered rares in Dreamsurge zone--this is the 2nd most profitable. I got 24 Dreamsurge Coalescence from 1 empowered rare. (It announces in chat when a rare is empowered.)
The addon Vignette Announcer (not mine, all credits to author) puts clickable coordinates in chat to create a waypoint to the empowered rare once it's announced. So convenient.
Recommended: Kill the boss from the fire portal that pops up in the Dreamsurge zone every 30 minutes. You will see a fire portal icon appear on the zone map at the top of the hour and 30 min after the hour. This gives 39 Dreamsurge Coalescence, making it the most profitable.

If in Waking Shores, it's at /way The Waking Shores 41.1, 77.3.
In Ohn'ahran Plains, it's at /way Ohn'ahran Plains 21.4, 60.3.
In Azure Span, it's at /way The Azure Span 33, 40.
In Thaldraszus, it's at /way Thaldraszus 61.5, 26.5.

*If you are on an alt and you cannot see the rares in the Obsidian Citadel, go to /way The Waking Shores 25.1, 56.5 . Talk to Kalendormu and say you want to skip through to unlock Obsidian Citadel. (This will only work if you already unlocked on a main, of course)

During the event in Thaldraxszus, I was gathering Dreamsurge Coalescence-s in Valdrakken, and the quest item counter stopped on 40/100, regardless of how many I continued to gather.
Maybe gathering these items in non-dangerous areas (like a city) is limited by 40.

there is a bug in gathering these Dreamsurge Coalescences.
sometimes i get 5, mostly 2 per green orb i fly thru.
many times it is not counted towards that needed 100 to complete the quest
not a pressing bug fix, being this is a short interaction time for even wanting to get these

I think the quest is buggy itself. It says it needs 100 coalescence and i have over 1000 and the quest doesnt read it

Seems bugged as of today (nov 24:th) in the EU. Picking up Dreamsurge Coalescence doesn't cound towards the quest. Tried with several alts and a guildie has the same issue.

Edit: The bug was that it didn't count if you were in Valdrakken. The rest of the zone works.

Something must be bugged here. The Dreamsurge is in Valdrakken, and half the little green orbs I fly through give me the dust for the quest, but don't count towards completion. And as someone else says, why it doesn't count the huge pile of the stuff I already have is idiotic.

Why can I sometimes find this in the Advevnture Guide's Suggested Content, and other times I can't? (No, I haven't already picked up the quest. It's available on the map. But it's convenient to be able to get it from the guide instead of flying across the map and back.)

Turned it in today after not playing for a while and got a 480ilvl ring in the box from quest reward, guess these type of quest are updated for new patch

Turned this in on several alts throughout the week, last one being yesterday, got the cache with an ilvl 480 item on all of them, turned it in again today on another alt and no longer got the cache (before weekly reset). Guess it's just another sneak nerf like the gold reduction from caches.

Apparently this quest no longer offers a cache.

With TWW expansion, this quest still exists and can be turned in, but it no longer offers any rewards. It seems to be on the Warband system where it can only be completed 1x.

At this week this quest gives Cache of Dreams, it seems that there is rotation of weekly activities still at the game, as it was at the time before prepatch when we got weekly quest from Therazal. Or it can be just a bug, we'll see. :)
