Thinking I herd only humanoid were Rares In this expansion, along with raid boss's. But a rare Hunter pet/Beast? An not only that but a Old model of a Beast. This sounds Cool to hear! Any 1 got any updates on this Creature?

Rockhide is the Rare Hunter pet for Townlong Steppes.

He leaves Worn Tracks and paths from Sik'vess going around the south of that to above the Widening Deep and going north towards the Shado-Pan Garrison. From there, he makes his way slighly southeast of Rensai's Watchpost then heads north towards the northern part of Kri'vess.

He's a Level 89 Elite, and much like the other Rare pets in Pandaria, you'll also need to Flare him out into the open, as he'll be fully stealthed otherwise.

You might run into some phasing issues in the northern part of his path, so be aware of that.

I tamed him today on Bloodhoof US at 1:30 a.m. server time.

I found his tracks at about 1:00 a.m. in the Lower Sumprushes and quickly followed him west to Sik'vess and then back east to Kri'vess, where I tamed him just west of Fire Camp Osul.

A few things to note:

This is meant to be a hunter pet. It is not a rare spawn, does not drop loot, and it not part of any achievement. Only hunters can see the tracks and only a hunter's flare will expose him. The same goes for all other rare elites in this "hunter tame" category.

As has already been stated by Ultratech, his tracks actually need to be followed backwards. Don't follow the direction the toes are pointing. If the toes point west, go east, etc. I made the mistake of following them forwards (as is logical) and that is why I traversed the zone twice.

I found that his tracks will linger for about five minutes before disappearing, so don't delay in your pursuit.

Throw your flare out as far in front of the freshest track as you can. Once flared, you can keep him visible with your Hunter's Mark, but he will be visible to everyone at this point. Once flared, he aggros to anyone close enough including non-hunter players. Be sure you don't lose him to someone standing nearby!

I hit him with a couple of shots to tag him, then tossed out a trap to freeze him. He broke out immediately. Might be bad luck, might be intended. Regardless, he doesn't hit very hard and I was easily able to complete the tame. Tip: if you can, kite him somewhere that isn't swarming with other mobs. I died immediately after taming to three mantid and a wandering mushan bull.

This guy seems to be the hardest one to track/tame in the game. No matter what I do, I cannot find him due to what seems to be phasing issues. I have lost his tracks three times. I want this guy, but not if he is so much trouble! If anyone has any helpful tips for the phasing problems (such as waiting in a certain spot with flare constantly up) please help! I don't want this guy to be left out of my menagerie since he's gorgeous, but he's such a pain!

Edit: Finally got him, and he's lovely. I had to chase him halfway across the zone since he seems to move at mach speed despite looking so slow! *lubs hard won Rockhide*

Came across his tracks at the large tree east of Rensai's Watchpost just north of the road. Managed to flare him and tame him around Kri'vess after dodging a hunter from the opposite faction.

His tracks did not disappear after the tame. I have submitted a shot of Rockhide and his tracks for reference.

The tracks are bold and easy to see, as can be seen in the picture. Remember: follow them backwards.

I think it's nice that it will not react to you even if you hit him or try to tame him, he will continue walking, so try to start taming when there are no creatures around to hurt you.

This is one of the 10 trackable hunter pets. He has tracks called Worn Tracks. (they look like the paw tracks in Sholizar,and when u scroll over them they tell you the name of the tracks.) But don't get too excited,like the others he can despawn right in front of a track. And be careful,if u are a ground mount person there are lots of aggressive mobs around. And if u like to fly-track the tracks,its still dangerous. Lots of Sik'thik mobs fly around in numbers. Fairly easy to kill,but u might just miss some tracks. Got to tame mine,but it took roughly 20 mins to finally get a perfect tame. (due to phase problems.) Named it Patrick. Well,gl to all u hunters!

If you don't want to chase him all over the place and fight a bunch of mobs:

Place flare at: /way Townlong Steppes 63.23 67.23
Wait patiently and he will eventually appear.

This spot is somewhat in the middle of his entire path. It only took me 10 minutes of flaring to get him to pop up.

tamed this guy in about 15min,easiest way is to just fly right to whichever end of his rout you feel like,either the beginning or ending of his rout,doesnt matter,just sit there and keep a flare going till they show, used this method for savage,bristlespine,bloodtooth,hexapose,glimmer,and bombyx, works every time,plus no running all over trying to find,and follow tracks through pile of hostile mobs, got this guy on fenris at 2105. good luck hunters!

I tracked this guy for about 20 minutes, kept trying to tame him and he wouldn't stop... Word to the wise, if you are going to tame him, he does not aggro so freeze trap hime and tame him.
