Very annoying mobs, in an area where frequent adds are a possibility. The fact that they stun and spam hamstring can lead to a fast death if you can't escape.

These guys might actually fly down from the sky to aggro on you, then evade bug while still hitting you. Very annoying.

These are easily the stupidest, most annoying mobs in the game. Having them kill you mid air, a high chance to daze and hamstring you is just absolutely ridiculous.

They fly pretty slow when ascending or descending, so those on a non-epic mount can distance them easily by flying either straight up or down.

These guys really need two things:

1. A loot table. The small birds at least drop feathers. Give us something for killing them!

2. To give rep for killing them. As has been pointed out before, the smaller birds give rep through revered, so why not the bigger version? This seems like quite an oversight.

Right now they are easily the most annoying mob in that area, yet there is no reward in terms of loot or rep for killing them.

Fly upwards vertically if you aggro one. They can't hit you at all if you do that, and they will leave you alone after a couple of seconds.

You can get away from these multiple ways as they are really buggy.

Flying up or down works on both normal and epic flying mounts, though on the normal mount you can still get hit when you are aligned with the birds.

You can fly below a platform then over it and the bird will stay under and de-aggro, you can also fly or run around a platform and it will stay on one side till you drop aggro.

As of the hotfix following 2.3, it seems that flying straight up no longer allows you to lose them.

It isn't mentioned yet, so I'll also mention that druids, in their flight form, cannot be dismounted by these horrible creatures.

This is absolutely the most annoying mob in the game for anyone without an epic mount. I have literally been killed by these POS birds like 20-30 times over the last two months, mostly because I got knocked off my mount, which, if the fall doesn't kill me, a bunch of other POS skettis mobs and their Fing birds do.

Oh and don't forget their ability to seemingly follow you endlessly...

I was flying around up there doing the bombing run and had one aggro me. I kept pretty much ahead of it, but even after I would have been far enough away that a NORMAL mob would have reset, the damn thing still follows me. I was left with no choice but to dismount and kill it. They really messed up on this one.

If you fear one of these, they teleport to you right when the fear ends. The same seems to be true if you aggro one while on the ground.

the second most usless mob in the game.... not the most cause it has a quest for killing them at least. imo should just get rid of them and replace the cooking of their wings with cooking cat meat.

that or make their patrol paths not so fricken low. I just got killed by one when finishing the escort.... i mean right as the guy wass going down to complete it and wham!. i'm dead and the guy is dead... GG QQ

If you aggro one of these in mid-air, at least try to fly to the lake in the middle of the Skettis. You have no chance against them in mid-air anyway and there's a 95% probability that you'll be knocked off your mount, so at least do it safely. And do not think to outpace them in air, they are faster than a Paladin with a Crusader Aura on, on a normal netherdrake (didn't try on 310% ones).

Fly to (61.6, 73.0) and land on the purple hut flap. Just wait a few seconds and the birds will fly by and aggro. I was able to kill 10 of them there and finally got wing to drop. I like this method better than aggro in the air.

Sadly I did not get a screenshot but I can say that there is a very small chance of loot dropping as earlier today one of these birds dropped a green item for me.

I've noticed that if i'm flying near the roofs by the eggs, if a monstrous kaliri aggros on me and I land on a roof it will disappear competently in the ... center of the tree? not sure. When I have my daily giant karili already and dont need to fight i avoid them by landing on the roofs then remounting and blowing more eggs up. ^_^

As a mage, I found this tactic very easy.

Release pet
Mount a flying mount --- I like the flying carpet :)
"Dogfight" w/ a Monstrous Kaliri until you're really close & over water
Unmount & throw a heavy hitting instant cast on them right away
Swim to land while rebuffing shields
Pop pet
Blast away.

Did this 3 times and got the giant wing.

With the last patch 5.1 these creatures are really difficult to find, and is they dont respawn as fast as before, so you have to camp one of the towers and wait till they appear

This macro is working well for me as a Balance Druid:

/cleartarget
/targetexact Monstrous Kaliri
/cast Moonfire

I should add that I'm running this rep as an L90, so the birds aggro'ing isn't a problem. Catching them in mid-air is.

If you kill one while it is flying over water, it will despawn instead of its corpse falling down. If you need the drop for the cooking quest, beware!
