The high numbers for one covenant may be due to what we're told up here on Wowhead. I play fire mage as a main. That spec is recommended to go with Night Fae in the class guides for Shadowlands. So, that's what I did.
In my opinion, world of warcraft is not as fun if you base majority of your decisions on "what is best for my class." i chose night fae over the other ones knowing it may not be the highest damage choice. I weighed the transmog set, mount, and soulshape as factors for chosing night fae. I recommend going with what you find enjoyable then chosing something because its the "best."
Aren't these stats only for logged raids & dungeons? It doesn't take into account players who are playing more casually and aren't logged at all.
Why are frost mages going for venthyr? Serious question
I honestly picked my covenants based on what ones I felt like my characters would fit into best. Like, for example, I went Night Fae for my Tauren Frost DK because my story for her is that she was a druid before being turned into a Death Knight. All my undead went to Necrolords, and a couple of DK's I have ... most of my Belves are with the Venthyr, again because I just thought it fit there story (exception is my Pallies who went Kyrian) ... so yeah, I definitely am not looking at numbers .... but then again, I don't really raid or anything ... I am more of a solo quester who dabbles a tiny bit into Dungeons and Random BGs XD;; ... I am a roleplayer though, so story is important to me.
I got to level 60 in three days, and that's playing casually .. so it's not surprising there'd already be 2 million, if not more already at level 60... unless you meant that it seems like a small number that's already at 60.
It's almost as if 90% of the players choose the covenant that has the best numbers and play style and not giving much a crap about RP, aesthetics, story, or identity.Druid = fae for basically every reasonPally = kyrian for basically every reasonDK = necro Sprinkle in some Venthyr for some specs
