Too bad the shipping options are so limited, would have bought one, but no shipping to Italy unfortunately.Seeing the prices for international shipping, this is has been configured more like a domestic kickstarter.
I would love to back this, except for some reason it won't ship to Canada? I mean i sort of understand having some limitations or areas you can't ship to, but if it can ship across oceans to a bunch of the other countries why not your neighbour... sad honestly looked pretty cool.
lol $400,000 its like they're expecting to have 10million subs back into the game,I applaud their competence. It's better to offer a digital copy for a lot less , in case the project dosn't get funded for half the price.
Hey, I've updated the start of the post - it looks like he's going to recalibrate the kickstarter, have the goals be lower, and have it open more. We'll announce when that happens.
He would probably get $100k in 2 weeks but $400k - I doubt it.
$400k seems way too high, particularly for a product with no pre-launch hype. If he set the goal to $100k it would be much more reasonable and realistic. I would really like that book and would definitely pay $40 for it, but setting the Kickstarter goal to $400k seems pretty extreme.
I can't wait! I wish they had this for all the expansions! I agree that the quality of the book and pages matter. It looks like an expensive college textbook. My only complaint would be to have a better more enticing cover...it doesn't even look like a diary or anything WoW related. The cover is too subtle to show its about WoW. And more colorful pictures! I like the video but he needs more excitement or editing to make it look like a WoW game and not a work presentation.I'm glad he is making an ebook version but i prefer pictures and a solid book imo. I also prefer hardback books, keeps and preserves the pages and corners better. Call me old fashioned!I wonder if he will or can talk about the music, aesthetics, statistics, and balancing of the game? I can't wait!
from the kickstarter page: "Yeah, this campaign isn't going to happen. LOL. I had some really bad advice. I'll reboot it with 1/10th of a target and give it 30 days to clear. Thanks for your support. If you sign up to to my email list, I'll send a notice to you when it begins again. (And I promise not to spam you with constant updates)."John Staatsgood to know :)
I backed it, though I think the 400k is a bit lofty, at 10,000 copies--since it's filling a niche, 10k seems really, really high to me. It probably would be more realistic to shoot for 1,000 or maybe 1,500 copies and do a second printing if there's that much interest. A thousand books is nothing to sneeze at, after all, and far more doable. I can't even think of a KS that had more than 1,500, come to think of it, and they were doing full color comic anthologies. But I'm still backing because I'm still really interested at how things started out and early behind-the-scenes stories are always interesting to me, because you rarely get to hear them. So here's hoping for a positive turn out!
This does 1.5-5k units. Also gl with all the complaints incoming from that terrible binding. $30-40 is fine for a paperback coffee table-ish book. But $50+, hc and binding that wasn't glued to the spine would be better.Source: Have sold books
