That's impressive. Well done.
Great art work! First of all, it must be praised! Now, regarding the cosmology itself, I'd like to point out a thing that has long intriguing me.As we know, in the chart the six primal forces are put in a way that their counterparts are set diametrically opposed of each other -- light x shadow; life x death; order x disorder.Following that logic, it would be fair to suppose that the upper forces would be opposed to the lower (as it comes to be true) and also that the upper ones are likely related between them and the ones in the bottom are related as well among them.So WHY the disorder are in the upper part together with light and life whereas order belongs to the lower part of the chart along with shadow and death?Assuming that light and life are the "good" aspects and that shadow and death are the "bad" ones, unless one takes a unusual view of the chart -- diagonally it -- order and disorder would belong to the "wrong group" (as order would be "bad" and disorder "good"). Not to mention that disorder (= chaos) in many cultures equals to the absence of anything (or an order) which is the same thing that the Shadow seeks in the lore of WoW.I personally don't think that noone payed attention to this. On the contrary, I do believe it was deliberately designed that way. So that makes me wonder: is the disorder an instrument to sustain life (here meaning the existence of things) while order would be the translation of the void (emptiness).PS.: I'm aware that the Chaos in WoW lore is related to Disorder and not Void which is related to Shadow and also means the absence of an order. However it still lets me wondering.
It is strange that "holy" is between "life" and "disorder" you would think that it would be more in line with "order" since they make it out to be the idea of "one perfect, unchanging" type of force but the void is all over the place, chaotic, exploring multiple paths.
I hate this stupid thing, it's literally ruining warcraft by replacing interesting mortal characters with cosmic gods that have no function other than grow and expand like a virus. those aren't fun villains I much rather have an expansion fighting someone like Garrosh or Illidan than cosmic death god or cosmic dark god. I know this always kind of exist with burning legion but there is a reason people considered that an expansion you couldn't make, the legion was so big and powerful lead by as god you couldn't comprehend how to defeat it and because of that when we eventually did it was terribly underwhelming and really made no sense. Keep the world of warcraft focused on THE world of warcraft.
Very nice. I think this may be my new wallpaper
This is really nice
The artist have a great talent!
the original chart is unfathomable in scope and grand scale should not be reduced by inserting character here and representative there. the original map is like an ancient, unmet grandfather setting a story on an unknowable tapestry. yes the artist itself did a job on this and therefore a nod towards the effort can be given. we can all applaud effort and inspired fans. I do prefer the original due to it's archaeological find sort of feeling and the feelings of mystery and wonder and excitement it brings. this one is fun but doesn't captivate me the way the curiousness of the original does. I spent hours pouring over the the original from time to time, and love the wonderment of it all.in anything with maps or charts, I say, don't reduce the foundations of creation, lessen the ordering of the cosmos, and make insignificant the elements of existence by minimizing the connections and realms of such an awe inspiring chart by summing up entire universes and their natures with ..dudes. even if the dudes fit the realms and powers they are placed in on the map, it makes whole universe smaller and less grand scale when you see a named dude representing the entirety of a special place. original chart has been a source of wonderment and mystery and excitement. seeing this, while I won't let it ruin the original grandfatherly tapestry, is certainly irksome to a degree and a downgrade because it reduces the grand scale and scope and feelings of adrenaline and inspiration and curiosity to a less nebulous, less dreamy, and more info graphic approach with recognizable characters and basically chess pieces - when such a chart really shouldn't be fully comprehended at all, let alone comprehend by having just velen or just krag'wa or just lich king representing their realm or power or role, then call it a day. does the original chart have some entities present, yes. but they are not main characters, they still let us wonder and ponder and get excited plus I don't think the spaces between realms and powers is so cut and dry, but how they connect on either chart is somewhat of a mystery I hope is never fully explored.I want to see landscapes of sweeping plains, tales of spirits, questions of order and chaos, mysteries, excitement and the wonder of it all, I don't want all those feelings replaced by good and bad guys here and there. ick! middle earth and many other maps or charts, in real life and in fantasy and science fiction may mention specific characters or places occasionally, but the grandness of it all is never ruined by the exacting of 'this place equals this being,' or 'this power equals this representative,' or 'this event means this foe!'I can appreciate this scratch and sniff map, but to me it just sucks the life and wonderment and awe out of the original, and doesn't fulfill the role of energizing the viewer to ask questions and ponder existence, not anything like the original already does so well. the mysteries of the warcraft existence that was attempted to be crudely drawn on a tapestry (for our mortal eyes to understand what we are looking at) was effective because it told much but also told very little and kept the mystery alive while doing so, like an ancient grandfatherly being setting the stage for a story. this color chart doesn't capture any of the heart of what the original set out to do, and only reduces the awe and wonder.again, the artist did a good job with photoshop or whatever but as for the preference of this or the original chart, the reason I like the original one is because it leaves room for wonder and awe and curiosity and excitement, while this photoshop chart is more of an info-graphic to me, and stops any curiosity or wonderment the viewer might have had, replacing awe and inspiration with facts and figureheads. good job artists, but I'm glad the original exists in it's grandfatherly, archaeological-find sort of way.
I'm sorry if this has been brought up before or is a common theory, I don't follow the forums too closely, but,Remember how Elementals, originally native to Azeroth, were bound by the Titans to the newly created Elemental Planes? And now, whenever we destroy an elemental on Azeroth, it's essence "respawns" in the elemental plane, just like demons and the Nether? What if the Titans also created the Shadowlands as the mortal-races version of the Elemental Plane? Whenever we die, we basically respawn there - maybe as a way to save Azeroth's population whenever the World Soul awakes? So, the afterlife judgement is unnatural, something arbitrarily imposed by the Titans according to their morality (probably with good reason - to keep troublesome beings away from the general populace, for starters). What if that's what Sylvanas means by "this world is a prison"? Our "death" is not the "natural" death, and she will free us from the Titans design?(Again, sorry if this was already out there).
Sick!
