support classes are cool if we wouldn't mainly buff the vocal players and meta classes - attitude we saw with PI, kindred spirits and the fae guardians (and symbiosis, sp's tranquility in lfr was just op xd)see, in the past we had several "support" specs like, warlocks in wotlk could choose to screw their dps and focus on buffing raid's spell power, or a certain mage build that buffed the raid (*a lot*) but dealt half dmgor more recently priests' utility, rather before it became a cool specin league too, your task is to save everybody (or murder them if they dont behave); and even if you're behind to get buffed 40 minutes later you won't be. xdbut this, is not the case in wowand we dont want drakeswe want bards
Oh boy, this surely won’t completely screw over balancing
I love support, I am ready for this!
Nice Guide, does Prescience require u to focus on High BPM targets for the extra chance of proc in Fate Mirror?
Every criticism of PI times 10. This is exactly what I knew would happen. Lists like this ("Who Should I Prescience") would start to be created, which is going to lead to an even bigger obsession with playing the meta. This is going to be so bad. And DPS players that get left out are going to feel demoralized when they greatly underperform whatever meta spec of the day is getting the Augmentation buffs. Or, when I know I am technically the top DPS in a group, but I don't get the buffs because my class/spec is not on some simulation craft list posted on wowhead or elsewhere.
Where's demo on recommended targets to buff on pull?
Still annoyed that they get instantly a 3rd spec and Demon Hunter cry in the corner with 2 specs.
This is going to be such a disaster, lol.
This looks fun. Excited to play it.
I can't wait for tomorrow, gonna have a blast.
I was hyped about this spec until i play around with its talents.I mean, Blizzard need to make up their mind if they really want to commit to a "support" role, instead of a half-baked-made-dps like hunter and warlock from earlier wow.Augmentation Evoker as it is now is basically just a dps class that deal dps in a parasitic/unique way. I know they mentioned that it is still a dps class albeit "support-dps", it doesn't actually work that way imo. My wife is a healer and i've always wanted to play a dps class that can support her in m+ as that's as far as we can commit our time to. Then i look at augmentation evoker and other hybrid class. If i want to play a dps class that could offer abit more support to the group, why would i pick an augmentation evoker over something like ....retribution paladin? I mean, unless the dps buff for the team would way exceed the dps of having one pure dps class, which i suspect it would be the framework of how it will be tuned, or not exceedingly much more than that, i don't see the pros of picking an augmentation evoker over a dps class that deal full personal dps while also offer utilities and survivability, especially for smaller scale content such as m+. One can argue that it would have things like rescue, bloodlust, zephyr, etc, but none of em match game changing or quality of life like mass dispel, blessing of freedom, innervate, stun totems...etc. A support class - again, if blizzard ever plan to commit to it - should be a class not measured by meters, which is the point that it doesnt work with current wow landscape, just look at this article and we can see why, new class come out, everyone wanna know the rotation, the bis, the best person to use buff on...etc. It is not impossible to change such mindset but it would take tremendous effort and determination from WoW dev, but from the look of how warlock and hunter, who was referred as "support dps" in earlier wow, or the "fifth guy" failed and become pure dps, i have my doubts on their commitment towards this path, regardless of how bold they have been with Dragonflight and i commend that. The other problem with support class now is how it retain its value in a smaller scale content, as well as hybrid not intend to replace healer as of recent development goals. Support class works in game like FF14 because the way class are designed from the very beginning is that they're all dps as base, albeit with tanking ability or healing ability. Pure dps class just have more tools to do more dps thats it. Then it also forbid discrimination based on meter. All these build a foundation for the existence of support class. In WoW, imagine being in a m+ group, what is the value of bringing a "support" class that boost survivability of the team as what a "bard" would do? Would it free up the healer's hand to do more dps? As of now, healer's dps scaling does not justify so. In an ideal fan's fantasy, a support class is somebody that has the tool for most thing, CC, dispel, brez, lust, sentinel owl, blessing of sacrifice, blessing of protection, blessing of freedom, vortex, typhoon, short cd interrupts.......... how would such class work in say m+ content though? and how much dps to be sacrificed in order to facilitate such class? IF, a spec could do all these, i am ok if he's only dealing 70% of normal dps, thats about it, because it still doesn't guarantee the others will play their class optimally, and a group that play well, but not having all these utilities, can still do well as compared to a well build group with all these utilities but failing mech or underperforming. I think all these are what the dev team should consider when gauging the future of Augmentation evoker, it will need a lot of technical support to help it not becoming a meme spec, like a perfect way of calculating its dps contribution, but then, would it justify all these work just for a spec where end of the day it is still a dps spec?I really think as of current landscape, they missed the opportunity to introduce evoker third spec as tank spec instead of a spec that has a rather challenging future in terms of works needed.Speaking for myself, i am going to try it, but never at one point of wow has i had so much doubts about a new idea. WoW is an old dog with rather rotten and boring tricks, it will not change overnight, there's a reason some people call for WoW 2.0 , it's not just the graphic but the old toxicity and elitism from EQ still linger in this game, passing on from generation to generation of players. They might not have the technology needed for certain idea in the past, and they might have it now, but one thing that is hard to fix is the culture of the community, and this would take huge revamp or just a brand new IP. Augmentation Evoker is a dps class that deal damage by buffing others' damage, it is not the fact that they only deal 30% dps of what a pure dps should, it is how the other 70% works. Normally a dps class, if he fail his rotation, his dps drop. Simple as that, you fail your job, you fail. But for Augmentation evoker, first you need to execute your rotation well, THEN you need to ensure others did theirs fine too, while NOT DYING, in order to make up the 70%. Consider that blizzard is unlikely to let the overall augmentation evoker to contribute exceedingly more than a pure dps, it just seems to have more chance to underperforming than performing as it should. Things definitely would be better in a static group of friends or guildies or raid, but for pugs and m+.............................it's still something to be seen how blizzard would evolve this class to make it work. Just my 2 cents. I've always wanted a support class but this aint it.
EZPZ fix.. just kick every augmentation evoker from the grp.
BTW Glad to see you Jereico. I watched your youtube channel during beta.
