Top Builds is a feature we introduced during Legion in order to help players using our
talent calculators
and class guides to quickly see the top Azerite Powers, Trinkets, and Talents are being used on any given raid boss. This week we integrated the feature into the Battle of Dazar'alor, in order to help players determine what their peers are using to succeed in the new raid.
If you're not familiar with the tool, it's an automatically integrated menu to the left of all our talent calculators, which allows you to select any current raid boss and see what options are being used by the top 100 ranking players for that particular encounter. This can be helpful in understanding when players are valuing a particular trinket, such as ~10% of all raiding Fury Warriors still using
Darkmoon Deck: Fathoms
, or whether a top simming talent is actually used in a given encounter, such as Shadow Priests favoring
over
Fortress of the Mind
due to movement. However you decide to use the tool, it can be a great supplement to help you prioritize gearing or serve as a reference sheet for specializations which commonly change talents from one encounter to another, allowing you to keep up with what other players have been successful with.

How is this data powered?
We use the
Warcraft Logs
API to pull data from the top 100 Heroic and Mythic ranks from the most recent patch on Warcraft Logs (meaning 8.1 for Dazar'alor and Uldir). At the start of raid progression, we'll start with Heroic difficulty and flip the switch over to Mythic as soon as those bosses are defeated! You can dive into further detail with their comprehensive
rankings system
to create further breakdowns, compare reports, see group compositions for each kill, and more.

I dislike things like this only because it usually causes nerfs to some Talents or Azerite Powers.

Pretty sure Wowhead's calculator is not what causes the nerf.

The problem isn't nerfing op traits (because keeping them super strong makes people who were unlucky to find a piece with that trait screwed), but not compensating with dps buffs for specs who have overall weak traits or only nerfed ones (fire mages, frost dks, ww monks etc.)
If your spec is already middle of the pack or below average, and you rely on an op trait as a crutch, and then they nerf this trait, you fall even further down the pile while specs like boomkin, shadow, destro and affli dominate 90% of the current raid encounters.
The class balance leaves a lot to desire in the current raid, ferals, dks, enhance are again bench spec while warlocks are top dogs for the 5th raid in a row!
