For perspective, if it were freely usable by anyone, it’d become a mandatory-feeling power upgrade, and you’d see nothing but Hiveminds everywhere. Like this, it’s an awesome looking, prestigious mount, with just a tiny extra bonus.— ✨🐉 (@Celestalon) December 17, 2018

If I had a dollar for every buzzword I saw in these comments I'd have more then enough to buy several years of wow time. Can it really be said that it's entitlement when this clarification wasn't specified I dunno beforehand or even at the start of the hunt for the mount in the first place? I don't have any of my close friends who play at this time due to boredom with BFA and this basically feels like the last straw for me, Blizzard themselves need to stop being the fun police and being upfront about dumb stuff like this.
To be fair, they are overthinking this speed buff by quite a bit. When a team is very serious about doing M+ (for example), they do anything within their power to shave off time. This being said, for any team that wants to be competitive the Hivemind speed buff is a "mandatory-feeling power upgrade." By making the speed bonus only apply to the team you complete the puzzle with they are unnecessarily creating an annoying barrier for people to switch their speed buff around in order to be competitive with the teams that frequently make use of the buff. As annoying as it may be to switch the buff around, the high end teams that want this competitive edge will definitely do it repeatedly in order to get the buff for their entire team. TLDR: The speed buff offered will always be a "mandatory-feeling power upgrade" for any team wanting to be competitive. Either remove the speed buff bonuses from instances, or leave the speed buff as a baseline for anyone who uses the mount, pretty simple.
Blizzard ruins their own fun yet again, no surprise there.Lose the speed boost and lift restrictions. simple as that.
Sorry but, what a trash limitation. It'll just be forgotten on my collection.
You can ride with your friends, but the speed boost will just be for the group you did it with. HOWEVER: The speedboost can be applied to your M+ group if you do the last part of the puzzle again before jumping into the M+
IMO, the mount should be as it was hyped to be:a Multi person mount. Give it the current master riding speed and let us take our 5 man group out for a spin!
I agree on the fact that the bonus should be applied to the characters that helped you finish the puzzle, but why no allowing others to join you in the hivemind ? It's truly disapointing. It could be a multiple mount with 5 seat but who applies the buff only on the 5 character who finished it. That would make sense while not allowing any other one don't.
This seems aimed squarely at multiboxers, who will benefit most from the higher passenger capacity and consistently be able to attain the maximum move speed. For everyone else its going to be situational with the extra speed likely achieved only sporadically.I'm not sure I agree this is a population that needed extra perks and buffs compared to everyone else.
Adds special bonus to mount that only applies in certain situations, making it go faster. Claims it did it that way to not make it feel "mandatory". Completely lack the foresight to see that every M+ group is going to force whatever new people they team up with to go back and do this puzzle with them so that they can get the speed boost, thus making it "mandatory" anyways.God, Blizzard devs have really started wearing their pants on their head lately...
This has got to be one of the biggest !@#$ yous to the players blizz has ever pulled.
I believe the main appeal of this mount should be the fact that it's a 5-seater. Having a 5-seater in wow would be a new thing, but in itself wouldn't break the game, so a lot of people would find that enjoyable. The speed bonus could be given to any players who join if blizzard feels that generous, however keeping it restricted to the five people who did it together would also be okay. If they go with the latter option, they can simply leave in the ability to change who you are linked with. Also, that speed bonus should be disabled in all competitive play such as PVP and Mythic Plus. I really can't see any downsides if they made it this way. The people who put the time in get a cool new five-seater mount and no competitive play would be compromised. The only real question left up in the air is whether blizzard wants the speed buff to be easily accessible in the world or not. This goes back to the old Water Strider argument, should all mounts have the same utility or should some mounts have small benefits? It seems blizzard tends to think all mounts should be the same, and if that's the case, then just leave the speed buff for the five who did it together making it almost useless in that respect.

It makes sense for the speed boost to apply only to the one group of five players. It does not make sense to restrict the group-mounting to those five players altogether though, as it defeats the purpose of the mount in my opinion. Let it function as a group mount still, 1+4, just don't give a speed boost to other players.
Same thoughts as a lot of people who've commented so far, so am commenting to indicate my disappointment with this:1. Make it always a 5 man mount, regardless of who is on it.2. Make it have the speed boost, except in current dungeon content and current pvp content.(Heck, if that's too hard a thing for Blizzard to program, just make it work in non-instanced areas). This solves the concern that Blizzard has regarding competitive M+ and PVP.By making the speed not applicable to competitive situations, it removes what will be a required aspect of that environment. Also, give Lucid Nightmare the ability to fly, while we're talking about less than thrilling aspects of special mounts.
IMO:Make the mount function the same as the Sandstone Drake normally.Allow up to four passengers, but for each passenger after the first movement speed slows by 10%.The group you are linked with instead increases speed by 10%.That should solve most issues. It's a bonus for your group, but can function as a party mount if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of speed.
Stop me if you've heard this one before, but I think it would be a lot cooler if this worked as a multi-passenger flyer without the speed buff.
I did this on an alt I never play because I was the only one in my group who could do Vashj'ir. Looks like I won't be hiveminding.
Wait for the next store mount. It will be a 5 seater with a speed boost. As soon as it hits the store, this mount will be a 5 seater, too. But without a speed boost. Mark my words. This will happen. The decision is totally not understandable. Simply remove the speed bonus from any activity except open world. Simple as that. But there have been enough counter arguments to this decision...
