The only thing they should do... is make a choice but the end result happens the same. I don't mind the quest.
Dang, it was already kind of a gut punch finding her dead as a rogue main. Kinda icky doing the deed yourself, would have been better imo to do the whole let the killer go by security like spider-man allows uncle ben's killer get by kind of deal.
It should stay the way it is, even more that it's some completely random NPC at the end of the day that most won't even remember from small questlines.DF story and theme so far was making me feel, like they're treating me like im 12 year old kid, the way they do their storytelling in most of their quests. But even that 12 year old me wouldn't feel good about this expansion vibe."to lie to a beloved character, have her smile at us trustingly, and then stab her in the back."What's so beloved about amber character really? I would understand if it was some important OG character or one of newer main characters that were heavily involved a lot in the stories told before and now.
Not everything is sunshine and rainbows when you can time travel.
Chromie's hypocrisy is why I want Dormu to become what he's meant to be. After everything she has us do because it's something that has to be done I think this is a lesson she needs to learn that she can't have us do this horrible %^&* but then she goes ahead and tries to change things to make herself feel better.
Note how nobody was complaining about how this quest was depicted beyond "maybe the Bronze Dragonflight ain't all that good." This is because, unlike that infamous Alexstrasza quest, this isn't completely trivializing an extremely touchy subject from a writing perspective.
So that's what the Alexstrasza's quest was changed to after the Twitter mob uproar.Meh, i'll just skip through as fast as i can.
What Alex quest? About promising some rights to lesser dragons? Why not, they kinda cute.Or it was changed? Completed it on first day.
The vast majority of the playerbase doesn't even bother to read quests, let alone keep up with the lore, know the story and the characters, and just kill who they're told to kill. Trying to make every single questline "controversial" is pure redundancy. We've been doing this since all the way back in The Burning Crusade with ensuring the death of Taretha (whom Blackmoore had beheaded), assisting Medivh in the opening of the Dark Portal (which caused mass suffering on both sides), as well as culling Stratholme along with Arthas (which of course led to the rise of the Lich King). But a Rogue NPC being stabbed in the back is suddenly going too far?So why only now do people seemingly care? Bandwagoning presumably, and because there's now been a precedent set where the people whining about trivial things can completely alter the overarching story in the game. To be fair, this is nothing new, and I'd say that Garrosh was the first major example of this, but this is just getting completely and utterly ridiculous at this point. More than anything it really just tells me that the writers are not confident with the story they're telling, kowtowing constantly to people who most likely don't even play the game, but who know that spamming their company Twitter with a few dozen people will ensure that they eventually get their way—Even if it comes at the expense of everyone else.At the end of the day, the people who want actual interesting storytelling and writing, and who want the consequences of their actions to actually matter and have weight to them get their voices drowned out by a vocal minority who can never and will never be satisfied no matter how much Blizzard tries to pander to them. Then again, Blizzard put out an entire expansion that completely nullifies the fear and weight of death in the Warcraft universe, so who really knows what the point of all this is at the end of the day.
I can't wait for this one to be changed too because everyone wants to play FF14 instead of WoW but won't unsub to go play FF14 lol...
I think Chromie trying to save Nozdormu and risking breaking the one true timeline could be the villain origin story of the infinite dragonflight
As I posted about on the PTR forums - it also makes zero sense from a lore standpoint - she was assassinated *because* she knew he was a dreadlord. So killing her so that the uncrowned would eventually figure it out makes no sense whatsoever. They would figure it out faster if she was allowed to live and deliver the letter.
Have you ever considered not completing the quest if it's disturbing to you instead of ruining it for everyone else?Nobody ever complained when ppl completed the Culling of Stratholme where Arthas Slaughtered innocents. Facing the harsh reality in some situations in Warcraft is what shaped the world and its characters. That's also why Arthas is one of the best charactersCanceling stuff just because they made you feel a little bit uncomfortable is why the story is so flat. It's time to stop...
If she never dies but we know the original assailant was Dread-shaw then they consider themselves compromised. They may plan a trap for those who're coming after them or switch to a new body, leading to an unknown outcome. The fallout from that could have devastating effects. The quest just needs to make clear that Amber originally dies but somehow that was thwarted. The communication needs to be clear to the reader that they're trying to set things back to how they should be, which doesn't necessarily mean "setting things right."
I'm not going to assassinate her, she was one of my favourite characters and learning about her death in Legion saddened me. Now they'll want me to kill her? Oh **** off...
So many soyboy who can’t play the bad guys :_( cm’on she’s a rogue, more the happy to kill a Rogue everytime so cant wait for this quest :)
Life is difficult, and we are forced to make difficult choices. Life is not consistently nice, pretty, sweet, fun or fair. In fact one of the few things we can all agree on is that we all will die.Do I want my fantasy MMORPG to be scrubbed clean and sanitized so that nothing dark, ugly, repulsive, morally questionable or unfair ever happens and everyone is a winner? No.Am I comfortable with rape/sexual assault being talked about in game? As a survivor of childhood sexual assault, yes. Am I comfortable with the depiction of wholesale slaughter? Having been raised as a fundamental Christian who was well steeped in the holy book of my church, as well as it's real life history, yes. Humankind is not perfect nor is our world a Utopia. We are very good at killing and hurting each other. Would any of you have subscribed to this game if it had been named World Of Peacecraft? I think less people would have.I don't know why there's a hullabaloo about the game lately. If you want to get into a state of righteous anger about something try wondering why 30 percent of our homeless population are veterans and *STILL* homeless. Try wondering about the whys and hows of how highly addictive drugs get brought into this country, and how we have such a tepid response to it (if the government *really* didn't want the drugs here, they wouldn't be here, somebody is making boatloads of money). Try wondering why there are hungry children in the world's richest country. But really, understand that it's a story that we are all a part of, and the fact that it is making so many of us uncomfortable to me indicates the quality of the writing. I just went through the part of the campaign involving the black dragonflight, Fyrakk, the caldera and the outcome caused me to have a completely surprising and visceral emotional response. Sometimes the hardest part of things is how they make us feel.::end old man rant:: Someone will probably pull this down soon and it won't even see tomorrow's sunrise. But who knows.
