All I saw was a total badass willing to do anything for the horde.I stand with the Dark Lady.Saurfang was worthless, and frankly I hope that he is dead. If Saurfang is not a killable raid boss in this expansion, then he'd better end up being an alliance leader cuz I don't want any part of his "honor" bs.I did think that the scene with the Banshee Queen on the throne and the confrontation with the alliance leaders, I got the impression that Blizzard was trying to get her to come across as an evil archetype, but it felt forced given how badass she was in the battle beforehand and how proud it felt to be horde fighting with her.Blizzard better be planning a "redemption" storyline... because I refuse to kill her.
"how much Sylvanas is following the footsteps of Arthas"No she's not, Arthas was possessed by Frostmourne wasn't he? All Sylvannas wants is for the horde to not get kill by the filthy alliance, and her any means necessary approach doesn't make her dishonorable despite was Saurfang thinks.
really? did she say or imply anything about her 'care about the horde or other people' in general? I mean if you're going to justify her action, don't be so weak about it
God I hope they won't do that stupid " Sylvanas is actually a savior of us all! So everything totally excuses her! See guys? She was actually good! The elves needed to burn because...uhh Void! Yes! The Void!".
Great article. I've really been enjoying these lore editorials and discussions.Regardless of how obviously parallels are being drawn between Sylvanas and Arthas, there is still a lot unknown and a lot more storytelling to come about undeath and the Void. Touching on the Lich King in this expansion is now expected. What isn't known is how the story will be pulled out amidst the overall story arc of Alliance vs. Horde (aka Anduin vs. Sylvanas).
Either way, the Horde's going to lose yet another Warchief. Thrall lasted the longest at base-Wrath, Garrosh from Cat -MoP, Vol'jin lasted just beyond WoD, and now Sylvanas from Legion. How long will she last into BfA? Who's next, and how long will THAT one last? I'm tired of going through Warchiefs like water. "Right! Every time they start a new expansion, they burn our Warchief down!" "LEAVE US ALONE, BLIZZARD!" To twist some of the starting dialogue from Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
Sylvanas serves UNdeath, not Death. Death is entirely opposed to UNdeath, we learn that from Bwonsamdi. And with good cause, since Death and Life are a cycle. One doesn't exist without the other. UNdeath would break the cycle and thus destroy everything.
Nice post. Is there anyone who could sum up what we learned about Bolvar during Legion. I heard that he played an important role during the death knight class quests but didn't play them.
Give me WotLK 2.0/Old Gods for the next expansion and Ill be happy to stick around.
Sylvanas has already died 3 times....1. "Ultimately, however, Sylvanas fell in battle. Rather than honor the ranger-general with a quick death, Arthas ripped out her soul and transformed it into a banshee: a cunning and vengeful agent of the Lich King empowered by hate."2. "For her *second* death, described in "Edge of Night," Sylvanas flings herself off Icecrown Citadel after the death of Arthas. She's not granted a quick death but instead finds herself in a realm of anguish. Approached by the val'kyr who want to avoid being bound to the new Lich King, she rejoins the living and makes a pact with the remaining val'kyr.3. "In Cataclysm, Sylvanas and the Forsaken clash with Gilneas, starting a long bitter rivalry with Genn Graymane. She is shot and killed by Lord Godfrey, only to be resurrected by three of her Val'kyr in Cities in Dust. Through her pact with the Val'kyr, we also learn that she can raise humans as undead. She's now down to her last remaining Val'kyr and tries to bind more to her in Stormheim, ultimately unsuccessful."Just saying...
I dont think people who read the books also play the game but just speculate on lore.Anduin seems rather quickly to take Genn's advice and tell him to get bent as well. A lot of "Before the Storm" is Genn rages and Anduin basically shuts him down (Faol was one that comes to mind)
