As much as I want to have the options to have an elven (ideally blonde and bloodelven looking) paladin tanking for my alliance-race friends, and as much as I want this expansion to take us there through mechanically "softening" the faction divide, I concede that if it doesn't happen by 9.0, or isn't pitched as something to happen during the next expansion at some point, it's never going to happen. If they are willing to tease it this deeply and then swerve away from it at the last minute, that's a message, and that message will be received. No unity. Not now, not later. That would be weird because you'd think that future proofing the game would dictate an admittance that this genre and indeed this game isn't getting any younger, and the faction divide feels so antiquated. The alliance and horde should always exist in game, there should always be a story where there's friction, because that's how the PVP features are themed and set... but I'll be disappointed if they don't take this unique opportunity, which is more so than even MoP or Legion, to unify the playerbase if only on an optional front (toggle it with war mode?), and only for PVE? There are just too many clues for this not to be either a point of huge change, or a subliminal "nope, not even when unity is this important, you have to hate each other for the sake of the brand."
Seems like an elaborate and interesting read, but I only skimmed over it without absorbing much. At any rate I see only two ways this expansion can play out:1. Sylvanas is Garrosh, both factions forgive and forget each other and ally against Sylvanas.2. Sylvanas is Illidan, and she was working for the greater good this whole time while we silly, little players were just too dumb to realise it.Either way, I wish they would just get it over with.
Yet again, juuuuust to point out, last we heard from Blizz Kel'thuzad is still around and kicking, hiding out in the Shadowlands. I still say he's the most likely candidate behind her being chosen Warchief, and a motivator in things to come!

When Sylvanas tried to kill herself, she saw only the empty void and it terrified her. That's when her character started changing into what we have now, and why she hates Void energy so much. She wants to control death itself, so I think her endgame is to destroy the Void altogether. As the last living Old God, N'Zoth may somehow be the key to that since the Old Gods were created by the Void. It also explains why she is so fascinated by the Black Blade, given its proven ability to hold the essence of an Old God within it.

The story is fine, the community is definitely in mob mentality mode, you got the streamers/youtubers making edgy content for views and you guys just eat it up and run with it like the gospel. im sure once the story is said and done and we can see the whole picture that it will all make sense.
I hope patch 8.3 comes this year.
I think it's pretty simple - Sylvanas wants to become Death. That's it, that is her endgame one way or another. Maybe by taking death-mantle from Helya, or that other master Bwonsamdi was talking about. She is not interested to work with anyone, she wants others to work for her.
What if Xal'atath will tell us how to permanently kill N'zoth and Old Gods but in order to lure him out, he first had to be free from his prison.Because the Void Lords are still a threat, and we'll need to learn how to fight their Old God minions one way or another.
