It's a shame as SV is really fun as a melee spec, but it is completely lackluster in performance. And in PVP, while it may be the go-to Hunter spec, it is still severely lacking behind just about any other melee spec.
Longtime hunter player here!Have to agree with what's been said about Mongoose Bite - this needs to be baseline, there's no reason why it shouldn't be. It would also be amazing if they brought back Fury of the Eagle, as this would then give us spec identity, and give us something to work toward. I also miss FLanking Strike as a focus generator. Generating focus seems so laboured on the Beta right now, it's no fun at all.
if you want old SV ranged just go play MM hunter that now have lots of SV old talents like explosive shot, lock and load, serpent sting...If you want a good SV melee, here's what it needs in my humble opinion:1- First of all needs Fury of the Eagle back! Such an amazing ability in Legion, throw away. It can be used now as a talent replacing Mongoose2- Mongoose Bite should be baseline, replacing Raptor Strike after a few levels3- Flanking Strike as a talent replacing Kill Command4- Terms of Engagement? Who use that? Put on pvp talents or rework 5- Camouflage how about baseline? C'mon we are SURVIVAL!6- I would like some Legion's talents back, like Thowing Axe and that thing that buffs traps... again, we are SV!7- How about Black Arrow come back as a talent, replacing Serpent Sting or something? Giving SV a little more identity back
Just an idea, so for Arcane Shot and Steady Shot why doesn't Blizz just do the same thing they have done for serpent sting and outlaw rogues, the range abilities use an animation where you pull out a small "sidearm" and fire that. The actual ability is still based off all your regular equipment so no need for a macro to switch, allowing for more of a flavor look and then these shots could possibly be viable in rotation.
nostradamus of serpent sting - your prayers have been answered . the 12 second serpent sting - retaining the frontload worth a few ticks , holds off the potential of an 8th tick until haste approaches something like 54% ? i forget exactly what i saw but , either way , i was very happy to see the same change :)
