It's like blizzard is going out of their way to burn everything down as fast as humanly possible.
I honestly think at this point blizz should just accept these boosting grps and sellers exist and give them thier own channel in game, while at the same time just making it a instantly bannable offence to advertise the services elsewhere. That way anyone that wants to buy a boost can simple opt into the channel in question.
I don't think my friends, or myself, have used this for killing elites while leveling. Typically you just solo it. You get good or you die trying. Also if you struggle killing elite quest npcs just skip the quest and come back at a higher level. Like a true rpg. People forget that about RPGs. They just abandon the quest and move one. If you care about completing a quest for completions sake the but can't solo it.. just move on. Do players really use premade group finder while leveling?
Tbh its not gonna be hard to reach 50. And i cant remember a time i used it while leveling
I've used it to watch for info for high level alts, like battle of nazjatar, extremely rare spawns, or pug groups. I've used it to list for the end-of-questchain group quests in grizzly hills, which cannot be soloed by every class, and no general chat doesn't get you people to do those elite quests anywhere near as effectively as group finder (even group finder doesn't work very fast or at all sometimes. Other zones I've had no luck short of asking a friend to log over and carry me through the quest). This feels a lot like a baby and bathwater "solution".
aren't most elite quests either a) able to be solo or b) have that globe thing that you can click to find a group ?it seems like a non issue if either still worksI suppose i should just hop on and test this
An interesting change to see if this feature is able to create or not more engagement between social interactions. Hope they could use this well, by adjusting it in the future with improvements.
I think this is a horrible change, and it is punishing regular players for the actions of a few. There are so many other options they could have selected, if this is even an issue. Personally, I don't care if boosting services use group finder because I use search terms to find the type of group I am looking for. For those who say players can just do something else, why should they have to? I don't think the community is coming back to WoW anytime soon. Classic was an attempt to revive this. How's that going? My guess is it will never be what it was, so we need tools like this to find groups. Although trade chat is for (gasp) trade, people have often used it for group finding and other things. If there is too much activity there, people complain about that. To be clear, I have never offered or used boosting services. I just think taking away useful functionality from players who might want to use it as intended, in an effort to stop people doing undesirable things, is wrong. If you don't want people selling boosting services, or you don't want them to use the group finder to do it, address that directly.
Alright listen. Blizzard dislikes Boosting in any form, I get it. I do sell quite some Boosts and manage Boosting for our guild because how the market works currently, that's by far the easiest way to make gold without risk.If you dislike boosting then that's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion, you don't need to get it. I also would not buy boosts except if it's an unreachable mount f.e. that I desperately want.Because of this I don't need to see Boosting offers, so I set up my Chat Filter to not show any of those and it blocks about 90% of all offers. Some try to get around those filters, possibly hoping to still catch someone that thought he/she doesn't want it but then suddenly does (no idea tbh)?Regarding this topic tho - I feel like Blizzard makes a mistake. Locking a very welcome and liked feature because to prevent this (as that's what the article speculates) is bad for 2 reasons:A) It shows that they don't do enough to enforce their ToS (maybe don't fire all the staff?), because advertisement is not allowed in the Custom Group FinderB) It shows that Punishment is not hard enough on those who break the ToSC) They remove a very easy way to farm reports on those breaking ToS and by that removing a way to clear the game from spamers and suchD) It leaves behind those who don't bind with a guild strong enough to always have people to play with. I see it in Retail and I see it in Classic: Finding people to play with when necessary (Dungeons, Elite Q etc.) easy as possible is KEY to longevity. My suggestion, to not only whine but also give some proper Feedback is:- Think of a proper solution to 1) Remove Boosting for gold as a whole OR 2) Control Boosting for Gold by a tool f.e. like the Custom Group Finder which is seperate from the actual Custom Group Finder. This way we don't mix stuff.
I dont like this change as i am using this tool to invite my (lower than 120) twinks into groups for lockout shares to farm old-content raids.
Blizzard needs to explain the "why" of this decision. Are they trying for more of a Classic feel where you need to be in the zone using zone chat for group quests? To make the game more social? Is it to stop boosters? Is it because people in the leveling bracket just don't use it? We really need questions like this answered, otherwise we're just arguing into the wind.
My personal issue with this is, for someone that uses the group finder for soloing ICC / Ulduar on multiple characters with a lockout toon, previously any 100+ alt could do this easily, now with the group finder being locked until level 50 that cuts the number of characters I can do this on down to a third. Just putting this side of it out there as I don't know if this was intended but for others in the same boat as me it really sucks.
This is so annoying when trying to do elite assault quests in BFA for the XP buff.........
