Great, so I have to every single dungeon on Mythic to have a "decent" score if I want to try at least one Mythic? pshh(exagarating above, but you'll see this behavior in a couple of weeks)
I would argue that the main risk with addons like this is that they become too easy to misuse.Adding more information will be great for those people who are motivated to use the addon properly. But I'm not sure if it will keep less reasonable players from adopting the dreaded "2k+ score or gtfo" attitude. Unfortunately, I can't think of any perfect way around that issue. As long as there's any one metric that's easily visible, and perceived as accurate enough, some people will just latch on to that and stop thinking.Anyway, I'm not much of a keystone pusher. So I'll just make me some nachos and see how this plays out.
Checked the calendar and nope, it's not April 1st. I can't believe this is a thing and hope Blizz kills it like they did GS.
GearScore was merely a setback...Anyway, i like this addon but it should not use your general score for every dungeon, only for the dungeon you wan to queue.
They could have named the addon "Pugkiller" instead...
having played wow for 10ish years, and having been there during the days of gearscore BS, I think I can safely say this is just going to end up damaging the game for the Vast Majority of players. Yes, there is a need to vet players at a certain level ( you're doing a 6579 level keystone and need the very best players in the game ). But, if you make tools like this and there is no cost to using, ie. they are low effort and don't require a player to input a name to a website, visually compare stuff etc etc then you get everyone using it whether it's reasonable or not. Then the game becomes "you can only run XYZ with us if you don't even remotely need to or can use the stuff in it". If you're an "elite" player, you already have the tools necessary such as friends lists, quidlies, personal word of mouth etc to ensure a higher rate of success. Maybe your Leetist toxicity shouldn't be allowed to contaminate the LFG system. I for one hope Blizzard breaks the addons functionality asap.Shame on you wowhead for featuring it.
I'll be the dissenting voice, thenIn high level mythic keys, there's just no room for players that can't carry their weight. The dungeon will fail. And, in this era of premade group finder, the best players will be able to get new groups quickly if there are signs of trouble. And when the group does break up, your key will lose a level. Not a fun experience for those trying to push higher. Unlike a raid group, there are real, immediate penalties for even a single wipe in M+.So, those people creating a M+ group need some way to filter out the good players from the inexperienced. The proving grounds can show skill, but proven knowledge of the specific dungeon packs and boss mechanics is needed. Item level is too easily inflated by titanforges. Raider.io's score is the best tool currently available.
How does this even tally up your score? Is it all cumulative with all your alts? What makes you have a better score? Just higher keys or higher keys AND good time completion?
So it gives you a score but all the things it uses to score you for are things you do in a group. This is not very representative of your skill, you could have been carried or even been carrying others to help them gear up a their character.
This is only a bad thing. I hope blizz will do something about this and make the addon not work in game, they should also just shut down those web sites that support this kind of thing. It is hard enough to find a group to get a +10 done each week as is with people putting "checking your score" in the info part of their groups. Now they can just mouse over me and see I don't even have an account on those dumb websites.
Welcome back gearscore! You weren't missed and weren't needed - just another way for someone to solely look at a number and decide if that number ("player") would do well. What a silly addon pandering to the elite, for the elite. Keep it, it's bad enough Mythics aren't LFG that now we have another exclusionary tool. I thought this was settled after Wrath, but apparently not.
