First true epic item came from the good ol' Vanilla WoW Onyxia raid back in the day. Was on my shaman and was brought along to heal my section of the raid. She was a tough Lizard, wouldn't die at first, but eventually we whittled her down to death and took a quick victory dance and screenshots of our first downing. Low and behold, the Tier 2 helm drops for shaman. I'm thrilled beyond delight, but some other's are just as keen on getting their hands on it. Eventually, the guild master stated that he couldn't care less how much RP we were going to bet on it, we had all to roll, highest won.The other two were already in MC gear, me, heh, was in Blues and some pvp gear. I really wanted to get into the raiding scene, and this was my first shot. The rolls went as thus.GM's Best IRL Friend- 83Officer- 21By this point, people started to congradulate him on his victory, I didn't think I could stand a chance, then I /rolled.84.The screams of Oooh's and Ahhh's and oh come the F*ck on's went on, but the roll was fair, and I donned my Ten Storms helmet with glee. The both of them eventually got their's as well, but I still remember it, by sheer luck, won the helm.
Rejuvenating Gem was pretty epic considering how long it lasted. Never got the Memento, so I just kept it all through 70.
I'd have to say the most Epic drop for me... is a toss-up between Stormrage Legguards and the Will of Arlokk. After months and months of progressing through MC, picking up what pieces of Cenarion were actually upgrades vs ZG gear, and countless attempts at killing Rag, we -finally- managed to snuff out his flame, with 39 people no less... The anticipation as we rezzed up the 1/3 of the raid that died was killing us, especially with it being our first kill. With a very noticable "Oh my.." from our guild master, our rewards flashed in Raid Warning, and voila, our first sets of Tier 2 pants: Wrath and Stormrage. I almost went through the roof, because I knew those pants were mine since I'd been saving DKP for them. 3 months later, I finally got the Will of Arlokk, after just about every other druid and priest in guild had it, and I'd been working every other time it dropped... Now that I think about it, I'd really have to say the pants win out, that night was truly epic.
Did a Naxx run a few days ago, originally wasnt schedueled to go but since I was spec'd for Boomkin the guildies figured to put me as DPS/Offheals. After a good while we came up to Faerlina and as we were expecting some bad juju cause some people died, only a few of us were left -- so nuking ensued....Some clever moves by the tank, one healer and two dpsers (with me throwing some offheals) left we downed her and I got Boots of the Follower. Needless to say, my first wotlk raid epic and darn proud of it considering the circumstances. ^^
i was in heroic Nexxus grp earlier today .. and while fighting our way to the 'mage' boss an epic bop healing trinket dropped .. i thought we have killed a boss or something since it was my first nexxus heroic run ... so i got it because i was the healer in the grp .. and at the last boss a healer mace also dropped and i won it .. that made me feel very happy in my very first heroic run .. and later on i wowhead'ed the trinket and found out it has a VERY low chance in dropping .. and that made me even more happy for getting it in my very first heroic
The most epic loot drop that I've ever gotten is def my Giant Sewer Rat.It took me like 3 days of fishing whenever I had time and almost 2000 casts to get him, but I finally did! It was really annoying too cause one of my friends was going to farm it with me, but then she got it in 60 casts. =x
My most epic item would of probaly been when I got the Time-Lost Photo Drake. Took me 7 straight days of farming, and when it dropped, it was awesome :)
Easily the first leatherworking recipe dropped from some low-level mob. I had just started playing, and was excited just to be able to make something new.
Arguably the single most memorable moment I have in wow involves looting Blacksmithing Plans (Corruption). I have always prided myself on trying to keep my professions "at level" or "over level" of my character level. When I was in my 40s, I made it a goal to become a swordsmith at level 50. You could get the Swordsmith quest (Corruption) at 50, but no one in their right mind would take a level 50 into 5-man strat. To become a swordsmith in classic wow, you had to loot Blacksmithing Plans in 5-man stratholme, which spawned the Black Guard swordsmith, right next to the Baronness. Keep in mind, this is classic WOW, pre-Strat nerf (but post raid drop out). The officers of my guild rallied around my personal goal: Crow (ret pally), Krastain (prot/holy pally), Dewitt (hunter), and Wazulus (warlock). It goes without saying that in classic, pre-nerf strat a lvl 50 warrior was next to useless. Simply entering stratholme would aggro mobs. It was my job to stay way back until they had cleared far enough ahead, and then keep the hunter and lock fully bandaged. Those 4 players essentially "4-manned" classic stratholme (in lvl 5x-60 dungeon blues ...not a single piece of MC gear or epics). All this was done for the single purpose of helping a guildie meet a personal goal...and i'll never forget that those guys did that. I'd love to be able to tell you that we went in there and flawlessly executed, but we wiped 6 times getting to the plans-4 of which were 100% my level aggro. Those guys did not give up, they wanted to see me get it at level 50. Ironically enough, I didn't account for the awesome XP I received and actually dinged 51 on the next to last pull before the plans. When the dust settled, there were the Blacksmithing plans laying on the ground. I was so anxious...I looted them and then promptly got destroyed by the Black Guard Swordsmith, but my fellow heroes returned the favor. They rezzed me up and I looted his insignia. I was a level 51 swordsmith.During TBC it was quite clear that Stormherald was THE weapon of crafted weapons. Additionally, it was very easy to swap from Swordsmith to Hammersmith, just a few gold and the click of a button. Today in wotlk, blacksmith specializations (swordsmith, hammersmith, axesmith) have been bastardized to the point that the "special" weapon(s) of wotlk are simply labled: "Weaponsmith" and are just a couple of level 78 items barely worth mentioning. That being said, I have never once considered, for even a second, dropping swordsmith because of the group effort it took to obtain that achievement.
I was running the Sunwell and Apoloyon the Soul Render dropped. I hit need for it and was outrolled for it. I was so devestated that I never ran the Sunwell again. Sincerely,Scabatha
This game has given me so many "epic" drops that its difficult to narrow them all down and pick my favorite. Each one of them is special in their own way and has contributed in the stunning experience WoW has not only offered me, but offered millions. But one in particular gave me not only a new companion but also gave me a giant WoWhead brain along as well.I am a pet lover; so many can sub a different word in for lover but we'll stand politically correct here for the sake and respect of this wonderful website. :)Exactly one year ago, I was organizing my bank (sure everyone can relate to this) in shatt when I noticed this small sludge, ooze covered, green slimy thing crawling along the floor following a hunter around the Aldor bank. I stopped everything I was doing, closed my bank, and followed the green goo all around the bank. He was so cute (and smelly) that I immediately messaged the owner of this wonderful pet to get the details on what/where/how I can get my Pally hands on one. She was so kind to explain how she was able to obtain one and encouraged me to look it up on WoWhead to get more detailed info on the best place to farm for one. "WoWhead?" I asked her. She seemed a bit surprised at first but understood that I had not heard of the site. With such enthusiasm she explained what this site was about and examples of when/where/how/why to use it. I was in awe. I couldn't believe how much detail she said this website gave about everything in Warcraft. I was also stunned because I considered myself a hardcore player (epiphany for sure was soon to follow). It was almost like opening a new and exciting chapter in your favorite book that keeps the story alive and flowing. I thanked her, I wish I could remember her name, for her helpfulness and immediately tabbed out and discovered this wonderful website with a plethora of information. My first search on WoWhead was "Disgusting Oozling." And BOOM THERE HE WAS! The website was so user friendly that I was easily able to navigate through the tabs to discover comments made by other players looking to find the same information or looking to share what they knew about the pet. I was so happy as I read each comment other players left on what they believed to be the best method of gaining this lovely pet. I searched through all the opinions and compiled them to find my best idea. The Weeping Caverns seemed to be a popular farming spot for this guy so I tabbed back into the game, took the portal to IF and hopped on a flight to WPL.I was ready to farm. I consider myself to be pretty patient, I can farm the life out of herbs/ore in this game so I was not only mentally ready for this endeavor but I was also so anxious as well. I got to the cave, tabbed back out to check WoWhead again to make sure I was at the right place and farming the right mobs and tabbed back in and went to work. I seem to agree with everyone else who posted comments about the Weeping Cave that it is arguably the best/easiest place to farm for this little guy. The respawn rate is good and the ratio of mobs needed to kill is also arguably the best. I farmed, and farmed, and farmed, and farmed and farmed some more.Like I said before, I'm normally a patient person but this was the first time I farmed a pet(I admit I bought the whelps from the AH because I stumbled across them as I was AH surfing) so I wasn't sure how dedicated you had to be in order to achieve this goal. I didnt give up however. I farmed and farmed and farmed some more. Days went by. Nights went by. A week went by and no pet. I did more searching on WoWhead about this and it seemed normal that it would take so long, they explained how it was a drop within a drop. So I kept farming. Then one saturday morning I logged on and went to work(I would even log out in the cave). I gathered up my first set of mobs and concecrated-so easy with a pally :). I seemed almost robotic up to this point. I would auto-loot, search my bag if I obtained an "ooze covered bag," and click to open it. It was almost 2nd nature to me to just keep going. My first set of mobs blessed me with 2 bags. I opened the first and got nothing exciting, ooze if I remember correctly. I clicked on the 2nd bag and it auto-looted the items within the bag. I went on my way further down the cave to gather up my next group when I did a double take at my chat box. "You recieve Item: Disgusting Oozling." My heart almost stopped. I couldnt believe it. I did it, I GOT MY OOZLING! I sat back in my chair and let out a huge sigh lol. It was hard work in my honest opinion, for those who have farmed something similar to this for days/weeks on end you have my respect and admiration for your determination. To this day this is by far my favorite pet, and I have so many, and we have something in common. We both like ale :).The companions that have joined me throughout my WoW experience have given me another avenue of enjoyment along with the obvious questing/dungeons/pvp options. They are my friends, buddies, what better word than companions. This story of what I believed is my most "epic" drop is two fold. Not only did I gain my version of an epic drop but I also gained "EPIC KNOWLEDGE!" Thank you WoWhead for being so informative and user friendly.I have to give kudos to a special website that helped me discover all the different pets this game has to offer, along with WoWhead(and I learned of this site from a comment left on WoWhead), http://www.warcraftpets.com/ is a community for pet lovers to enjoy a common theme together, I recommend it to those who are also pet enthusiasts like myself. :)Cheers!-Aliz
