I was doing a Scarlet Monastery run, and the mage was saying how he had done several runs trying to get http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=7720, and that everytime it came up someone else kept winning the roll for it. well that run just crawled through the monastery, and still the hat didn't drop. afterwards the group disbanded, and within 5 minutes I got an invite into another run, this one ran through the Monastery in less than half the time, and the hat dropped and i was the only one who wanted the hat, it was MINE! It was practically handed to me.I felt bad for the mage, so the next night I helped gather up a new run, this time we zipped through to Whitemane, and this time the mage got the hat, and all was well in the land of Azeroth.
When I was able to get both the fish trinket and the fishing pole from the STV fishing contest :D
Obtaining the Sun Eater was epic for me b/c of the billions times I ran Heroic Mech sucked, and c'mon, the sword cackles with a lightning effect, how awesome is that!
I am usually pretty lucky with wow, so there are a lot of things that I have recieved that would be considered phat(like the green proto drake I hatched out of my first oracle egg yesterday followed by the white bear mount 5 minutes later out of the daily quest). One of the times that perticularly sticks out in my mind was in Pre-BC when crusader was THE enchant to have. It dropped off of 6 mages that stood in 1 tower int he plaguelands. I was on a pvp server (overcrowded arthas) at the time and for the weekend had a bad connection so i just sat there and farmed the tower. This meant a lot of people were jumping in, killing me, and there was fierce competition over the uber rare pattern drop. Eventually I got lucky and nabbed one off a mob and was quite overjoyed with myself. Since I had a horrible connection I couldn't go much further ( I also needed money at the time) so I kept farming. Soon after (10 kills or so) the server had a reset. Once the server booted back up again did my usual circle and looted yet another uber rare crusader pattern. It was a good day :D.
most epic loot ever was the training sword when it dropped for me 4 years ago when i started with warrior^^wooden stick that looks like sword seriusly that was so epic
Nothing will ever be as epic as the vanilla wow days. Everything was new to everyone, so the first time ever seeing Ragnaros would be my #1. The buildup, the gearing you had to do to even complete MC, the 4 hour raids multiple times a week just to get to him for the first time ect. Once you see him the first time on the scripted buildup to him coming out was just amazing. All made better by being the first real raid boss for the game, and the end of the zone.
By far the most epic (yet at the same time ironic) drop I have ever gotten occurred when I was farming mats in TBC for Runed Eternium Blade for my Shadow Priest. I had all the primal might, and was farming (or trying to farm) the last of the adamantite in Shadowmoon Valley.I hadn't yet gotten my flyer, and as I rode past Sancturm of the Stars, a Rich Adamantite Node showed up on my mini-map. Thinking this would be the last thing I'd need, I booked over to it, only to see a large air elemental pathing around it. As I dismounted, I heard the always unpleasant "something is stealthed by you" sound, and suddenly a 70 Night Elf rogue is standing by me.Wondering if we could share it, I start to type a friendly emote, only to see him run to the elemental, give it a whack, and (rather predictably) proceed to chain it over to me and *poof*, the pudwhapper vanishes. As I am beating on the elemental, Capt. Shifty reappears, laughs at me, and proceeds to mine the node. Grrrrr.... I kill the elemental and run over to see if I can squeeze in a swing before it's gone.... and no. It disappears. He laughs, tells me "NO, not gonna happen", and stealths away.I go back to at least loot the elemental, and what is on it but The Ancient Scepter of Sue-Min . I only wish the rogue had stuck around so I could have mocked him. He got the node, and I got a 2000g drop. :DThe money from that sale bought my flyer, and the memory of the whole thing always makes me chuckle...
Epic flight form. The day the quest was available two other druids and myself bumped into each other doing different parts of the quest chain. Once we got to the heroic part we wondered if we could do it. (This was when heroics were difficult and most of us were severely undergeared.) We grabbed two PUGs and decided to try it.We died. A LOT. One of our PUGs was a warrior who'd only come for rep. I felt so bad for him I gave him 20g at the end of the run to help cover repair costs. He was a good sport about helping our rag tag druids get swift wings. The instance had actually started to respawn by the time we finally downed Anzu, which was a feat in itself because we had no AoE in our party. So, we barely managed it. Literally one more wipe and we would have had to give up on it that day.I adore my epic flight form. It was totally worth it. :D
