It's not an epic item, but an epic fight. So anyway, while I was still lvl 70, I was mining in Nagrand when some full season 3 rogue came to kill me. I had quite bad gear + he was in advantage because he attacked me from stealth. The fight went on for like 1 min and I killed him xD
Well...Back in the days of old, when the big dungeon for up and coming lvl 60's was UBRS..there was this noob Paladin named Elayna. She strapped on her armor (still a lot of green there) and her hammer and joined her companions on the Balcony of the Dreaded Jump (amazing how many people cannot make that jump) outside of Upper Blackrock's entrance. This was her first venture in here...her mentor, a more experienced Paladin and also the bold leader of her guild, was hoping to finally get the hulking Beast to reveal the sacred paladin shoulders he had been searching for for some time. (Elayna recalls him saying that even coming as a 15 man raid upon this dungeon he had never seen them, the Beast must have eaten them, and no one we knew had Finkle's Skinner yet to check!)Well, Elayna was amazed at the amazing size and the power of the monsters within the dungeon...after long hours of combat everyone was exhausted but they finally stood before the chamber where the Beast stood. (Even managed to get through the whelps without toooo many deaths..) The gnome warrior charged and got *punted* (Weeeee!) and the fight was on! The Beast charged and set many people on fire, and stomped most of the rest of them. Elayna kept trying to pound the Beast with her hammer, but the fear and loathing that Beast oozed along with that hot nasty lava kept her running most of the time. And then finally! the Beast dropped to the ground with a *Thud* and everyone stood around him as our priest resurrected our dead leader, who got the killing blow just as they both died. (Luckily the Beast does not have a friend priest like we do)After everyone was recovered enough to stand, the treasure the Beast was guarding was revealed! And there they were...the Lightforge shoulders! Our leader rolled for them and got...a 32!..and Elayna was the only other person there that could make good use of them. He insisted that she roll, and feeling all shaky with excitement she /roll 'd and got a 89!OMG! but wait! He's been here so many times..and this is my first time. Elayna knew that it was only the right and just thing to do to pass them to her mentor. (Besides, Elayna was destined to win them for herself the following week on the guild's next adventure into UBRS, and the Lightforged Breastplate, too!)The tale of "Horseshoe" Elayna, of Llane
My most epic loot ever was the first time I ever got an epic. The feeling of having the "oooo purple item" was on my Elemental Mage Staff on my mage!
I think that the most epic loot drop that I got was Onyxia's Head. I don't think that it was because it was the head of Onyxia....I mean, come on, it's not really worth that much. I think it was because I got a need roll of 100 on it! That made me really excited!

Honestly, every once and a while, Blizz gets it right and makes something that transcends what quality of drop it is. http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=40110 is that item and I will carry it in my bag until I'm sick and tired of that dam spectre following me!
Quite simply, Schematic: Arcanite DragonlingThis little bastard took months of on and off farming. We had three Mature Blue Dragon Sinew's drop in the course of the farming event.Eventually it dropped - and it was created to terrorize many an alliance in WSG. (Actually it was just a decoy to grab the flag and dash!)Of course if that's not epic enough, there's always the time I rolled 100 on this.
Oh my, it was an epic quest/drop. I had a level 30-ish Bloodelf Warlock and I needed the Robes of Arcana for the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe quest. For some reason no-one on the Horde side of Vek'nilash server was posting these at the Auction House. My 'lock was a Tailor - and I reasoned "why not get this pattern?" So..... I killed Defias Enchanters in Duskwood at the farms. I sneaked into the Tower of Althalaxx to kill enchanters and voidcallers. Every day for a week I did the 2 circuits. Sometimes 2 or 3 times the same day. I lost count of the number of times I died. Each day before I went out I would check the auction house in Orgrimmar and then go to Booty Bay to check the neutral auction house. Each day I would check the AH's again after I staggered back with much less gold from repairing so many times.I finally got my recipe in the Tower on the 8th day. The enchanter I killed also killed me - I ran back from the graveyard close to Bashal Aran, resurrected right on top of my corpse, looted the recipe - and was killed by at least 3 enchanters & their minions. I resurrected at the graveyard and hearthed to Orgrimmar - broke, broken armor, but with recipe in bag and quickly added to my tailoring repertoire.Next day I got a post from a guildmate, "Hey you're a tailor, right? I have had this recipe (guess which one) in my bag for awhile and I can mail it to you...."
I'd have to say the most epic drop I ever received was Verigan's Fist. As a low level Paladin it was the first weapon that I was very excited about and it had with the most epic storyline I had seen in WoW at the time. I shed a little tear when I outgrew it and was forced to disenchant it. :(
Just recently I was running an heroic culling of stratholme, and our group realised halfway through we were actually making good time. At one point the healer died and while no one else could rez we would've had to wait, I decided to test my gnomish army knife and it actually worked! We were able to finish and with 1 minute remaining we made it to the boss and killed him, if my jumper cables had failed we wouldn't have made it. The drake drops and two of my friends already had ones from runs earlier that week, so me and two others roll need. To my amazement I recieved the bronze drake with a 100 roll, sadly it did not count as the needy achievement but heck, I'll gladly take my drake consolation prize!
The day http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=31332 dropped was the same day I farmed enough gold to put http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=33307 on it and I think that was my most epic loot drop in one day. It also inspired me to get the rest of my gear and Continue Tanking.
The first epic item i got was the Bracers of Justice, but the best i ever got was a t4 item named Justicar Gauntlets. But i am working on getting Thunderfury and when i get it, it will be my favorit item (its harder than you think :S).
I was so giddy with excitement when the original Naxxramas came out. On my guild's second time in there, the Ring of the Eternal Flame dropped, and it made my heart skip a beat! At that time, I was the only fire mage in our guild, and old stats on this ring were perfect for that. I was still wearing it up until about 2 weeks ago. It's one thing I will never disenchant.
Early on in WoW, before Burning Crusade, I happened to be up at the furblog camp in Felwood.I was there with 3 other people. We were just having some fun doing some AOE and speedy rep grinding, when all of a sudden, Glowing Brightwood Staff dropped. None of us had even seen epics ourselves as we had not started raiding, much less even one drop in the world. While I did not get the staff cause I was a warrior at the time, my priest friend did get it. It was pretty cool, we were going crazy on Vent also.
