Vashj and Kael'Thas are still my favorite boss encounters in the game, by far. And the epicness of the boss event takes most of the space here, but the bosskill is the exact thing what made the loot so epic. I was in rather small Finnish guild and we had progressed trough TK and SSC quite fast. We weren't wery hardcore so we didn't stand a chance against realm's "beast" guilds, but I remember us being in realm top10 what was pretty important thing for us. ;) First time we faced Vashj we spent almost an hour just listening to raid leader explain the tactics. First tries were just wipes in few seconds, and after that phase 2 was total chaos, pretty much nothing worked. And this was with our top raid group. When we finally got the tactics to work, some people had to leave already. Most of us being somewhat annoyed because we kinda had a chance to kill her on first night. The following day we had exact same setup, but first attempt was a disaster and we wiped at aroun 90% of Vashj's HP. After listening to longish rant from raid leader about tactics we went for 2nd try for the evening. Everything went perfectly now. We reached phase 3 for first time ever and ended up killing her with that try. Not only did we kill one of the hardest bosses in 2 nights as a rather small guild, we did it before 2.4 came - actually it was 2 days before 2.4 came to live servers. And the loot - Pink Power Ranger helmet for my protection paladin - I actually healed the boss as prot pally. Awesome stats and model of the item screams for Paladin. :D

The most Epic item I've ever looted in game had to be Headless Horseman's Reins, we did the daily every day since the event started and didn't see one drop until the end. It was great when it finally dropped... We each pretty much walked away with a Horseman's Helm, Squashling, and Horseman's Blade (even the casters!), but only one got the mount. We were just happy it finally dropped!
I got "Life and Death" recently. Pretty damn epic!
Well the most epic loot i've ever gotten were my http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=32474, the Surestrike Goggles v.2.0 because they look so sofisticated and made me feel intelectual;).
After killing bazillions of red, scarlet, and flamesnorting whelps over a period of 5 months, I headed back to try just one more time. I was beginning to think that the tiny crimson whelpling was an urban legend... I met someone out in the wetlands who was there for the same reason as I was, but this was her first time. We joined up and started the slaughter. Lo and behold, the little darlin' dropped after only about 30 minutes! My partner was a bit put out that I'd snagged him so quickly. Told her 'what part of 5 MONTHS did you not understand?' Sold that puppy! Can't wait for the next one, which will be MINE!

My most epic loot would have to be my Disgusting Ozzling. It was the first item I seriously farmed, and also the very item that got me into collecting pets. I farmed for days upon days, over what became months. Doing a bit whenever I had time to spare from raiding or real life.Eventually I got it, and then the server crashed. My hope faded away as I relised that it was not in my bags, due to the lack of me looting it the moment the server broke down.A day later I thought I would try my luck again in eastern plague lands, not expecting anything. To my surprise on my second ozzing bag I got it.I was over the moon =)As such thats my most epic loot.
My most epic loot has to be getting the headless horsemen mount.
Yes I am boring.Back in vanilla wow I was questing over in Felwood and out of the blue Glowing Brightwood Staff dropped for me. I didn't even see it at first as I had autoloot on. I just happened to glance at my chat window window and was like wtf is with the purple text! I couldn't use it myself but I happened to have a good warlock friend that could . We miss you Kanubee!
The most epic drop i ever got was about a year ago, i had been up all night farming primal air and fire in the elemental plateau in a desperate attempt to make enough gold to finally buy my epic flying training.Anyway, i had been farming for hours and hours, my eyes were heavy, head was getting sore and was sick of the sight of elementals and decided to call it a night and get some sleep. just as i was casting my hearthstone, an air elemental spawned right on top of me and interrupted my casting. I proceeded to kill the said elemental and could not believe my eyes when i kneeled down to lot it...It had dropped "Leggings of Beast Mastery" a Bind on Equip Epic pair of hunter leggings, gleefully regailing my guild with the tale of my awsome drop, i decided to stick it in the auctionhouse for a thousand more than the item was said to be worth and went to bed.I Awoke several hours later and logged on to WoW and checked my mail to be suprised that the item had indeed sold for a staggering 2.6k, this combined with what i had already saved paid for my epic mount and even had some left over for a nice weapon enchant....its the sort of thing that you dream about dropping and never before and never since have i seen any drop (outside of an instance) as awsome as this...my luck trully was in onthat faitfull night xD
Epic loot, epic loot where to begin. In my long list of epic drops, one still sticks in my mind as the top drop. It had been a long day of preparation in the sultry heat of summer, and finally the raid had assembled and was ready. Onward the raid pressed. Hours upon hours of work and sweat, tears and blood, with raging fire and turmoil, nothing like it had ever been seen before. Amid the booze fueled summers of my youth, this memory remains vivid...I went ahead, alone, venturing into the wilderness, bored of the incessant and tireless antics of my peers, I threw down my headset. Along the narrow path, a walk I had made many times, sometimes half in my sleep, other times running full speed, but today I was weighed down... it was then I heard it. The first of many, it was a loud rumble, and a quivering madness. The vileness was an foreshadowing of what was to come, possibly something I had never experienced, but IT was coming, and I knew I was in trouble, I had not seen or heard this before. My pace quickened, from a slow crawl to a mad dash, the race was on. Furiously I entered into the fray, battling forces I had vanquished the night before.. damn respawns."Away you! To the depths of hell from whence you came vile beast!" I screamed into the night. It dissipated, dissolved, shrank... gone for now.The earlier training of the day was both a blessing and a curse, on the one hand giving me the strength and courage to push on, but also would soon become my downfall. Up ahead in the distance, I saw the light, peering through the cracks of the cavernous hall, taunting me, mystifying me. Suddenly, the dwarf appeared, the evil kin, I had known he was coming. Exactly opposite me, he was heading for the light! Whilst mocking me, it burst into a full sprint. But my goal was within my reach! As I leaped into the air, I let out a roar that would make any and all beasts of prey cower in fear, "Out of my way you SCUM! DIEEEEEEEEEEE!" I slipped past the coward and slammed through the opening, making a monstrous leap into the chasm, A mistake on it's own. As I landed, I tumbled into the ground, I had missed the mark and the pain began. I grimaced and groaned.. when I got up I realized that I really didn't have a chance. I froze in horror as the tidal wave began, the loud rumble again, and the vile stench, unmistakable. My training had come to fruition, too much fire in the training... a searing pain struck my back, it had gotten me, it was over...The epic loot had indeed dropped. And it was all mine.
The most epic loot drop for me would have to be The sword of 1000 truths, other people call it http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=39344, but they don't know. *snuggles his sword*
